Bleach was created because Tite Kubo wanted to draw kimono-wearing shinigami, so he drew the character of Rukia Kuchiki, making her the first character to be drawn as well as the first character to appear in the series.
In the manga, Orihime Inoue's mother was a prostitute and her father was a drunk and they used to abuse her and her older brother, Sora.. In the anime, this was toned down.
Named after the creator's, Tite Kubo, favorite Nirvana album Bleach.
According to director Noriyaki Abe, the anime ended before adapting Bleach's final manga arc, the Thousand-Year Blood War, because the anime was too close to the manga that they had to ask Tite Kubo, mangaka of Bleach, for what would happen next. The production of episodes starts months in advance according to him, and at the time the anime ended, the manga was only 4 chapters ahead, which wasn't enough to start a new anime season.
The series was initially going to be titled 'Snipe' and Rukia was originally going to be its main character because Rukia was the first character that the creator, Tite Kubo, drew first. Kubo drew up the character and envisioned her wielding a scythe while all the other characters carried guns.
