The hack's liner notes on Vol. 26 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theatre series pretend that INSIDE PUSSYCAT is something of a classic adult film. Au contraire, this is porn filler of the most routine type, evidently stimulating to that self-appointed expert's peculiar fetishes but overall terrible.
Format is simple: a smug grad student is working on his doctoral thesis to "prove" that everyone has a schizophrenic dual nature: what one thinks one is and one's true personality. He uses drugs on three coeds to bring out their hidden natures, and has surreptitiously filmed them having uninhibited sex to prove his point.
Entire picture is merely him showing the trio a 16mm film of their last night's escapades, miraculously developed and printed for his use overnight (!). It is just endless hardcore footage involving them and many other people, including guest star Orita de Chadwick, whose career credits don't match this IMDb-dated-as-1977 (marked down recently from 1979) title. At film's end he almost twirls his moustache as he blackmails them into continuing another two months of being drugged as his experimental guinea pigs, or else he will book this crappy movie (the 16mm one, not the one I've been suffering through courtesy of SWV) to "1,000 theaters". Yeah, right.
The three coeds' reactions are completely unbelievable, since they don't do anything interesting in the incriminating footage. It's all an extraneous excuse for pretending that a bunch of loop material is a feature film.
The mediocre sex footage is badly filmed, with the shadow of the camera interrupting at will due to bad lighting/poor technique, and the insulting ploy of actresses suddenly spitting out a pint of milk (or peraps half & half) to simulate ejaculation-in-the-mouth repeated over & over. Cast includes attractive femmes (no doubt winning the heart of the male 'ho who wrote the rave review for SWV), but they mechanically do the eyes-closed/fake-passion routine throughout the mish-mash of sex scenes. The only thing that kept me awake was casting in the orgy of an underage guy who looked like Sam Raimi circa EVIL DEAD -not a pretty sight in porn context. Although I would date this film as more likely circa 1974, with its 1977 date thank God they didn't use the real Sam! Not even Bruce Campbell could have made this film work.
Musical score is uninteresting, save for a not-paid-for twangy guitar cover version of Cat Stevens' "Wild World", played while our dear Raimi-kid gets it on with two girls at once.
