      While filming No Way Out (1987), Kevin Costner contacted Eric Louzil to buy the rights to Malibu Hot Summer (1981) and Shadows Run Black (1984), which Louzil produced. But Louzil had already sold the rights to Troma. Costner was pissed. He had appeared in both movies early in his career and he didn't want anyone to see them now that his career was starting to take off. Louzil said in 2002 that he'd given about 300 interviews about Costner once he became a star because of the two films.

      (at around 57 mins) When Victoria Taft gets out of bed and answers the phone, she is nude. As she brings the phone up to her ear, she has on a white bikini bottom.
    • Alternate versions
      The German video version released in 1992 misses two scenes (some talking in an office and a sex scene). The new video release by Troma includes the sex scene but still misses the talking in the office.

    Kevin Costner's First Movie

    I have decided to watch every kevin Costner movie in order. So I start here with his debut. Malibu Hot Summer or Sizzle Beach USA as its called on my DVD.

    Plot In A Paragraph: 3 female friends (One wants to become an actress, one wants to be a singer, and the other wants to be a gym teacher) go to stay at a beach house for the summer.

    There are a lot of naked beauties in the movie, and I'm sure a few people still get a kick out of the 1970's soft core porn movie vibe. But it's one to miss.

    Kevin Costner is given a Special Guest Star Billing, and is in it quite a bit. He plays a cowboy who falls in love with the actress. But truthfully he gives the impression he is reading his lines from a none to helpful prompt book.
