Was the British army really in the Sudan before 1876, as Mills and Borgnine were supposed to be? Don't think so.
During the Indian attack on the fort, Senora Veronica (Lucianna Paluzzi) takes an arrow in the back, however she was standing with her back against a wall at the time.
When Chuka (Rod Taylor) takes a lance to his side during the Indian attack, he momentarily grabs the tip of the spear and then suddenly the entire lance is gone. It would be impossible in his condition to remove the lance so quickly.
Indians throw spears into the wall of the fort and it can be seen that they are very loose yet some of the indians use them as ladders to climb over the wall.
For a story that occurs in 1876, there is a problem when the main characters arrive at the fort. There is a soldier being whipped for desertion. Whipping or flogging had been banned by the U.S. Army as of 5 August 1861.
