The airplane takes off at night--it was scheduled for 11:45 pm--but after Julie visits the cockpit for the first time, views out of the plane's windows show it is flying in the clouds in daytime. And though it didn't even fly out of the state, it lands in broad daylight.
When Lyle shoots Cliff, he takes off in Cliff's car after going through his pockets and finding Julie's address. Lyle is then shown driving on a road for a while. However, in the following cut, he is still at the spot where he shot Cliff. He then backs up Cliff's car and drives away as Cliff watches. On the cut after that Lyle then returns again to the spot where he shot Cliff and starts to hunt him down.
Julie pins the note to the door to the apartment she is staying at, above the peephole. When the police find the note it is pinned below the peephole.
When they are coaching Julie to land the plane, there is a shot of passengers watching the action from the lounge. However, in the immediate next shot, the orientation of the passengers has changed including a mustached man who went from no hat to wearing a hat.
When Julie puts on her coat as she is preparing to leave her house, the coat is open, and her scarf is hanging outside the coat. However, in the next shot, the coat is buttoned up, and the scarf is tucked inside the coat.
The emergency equipment at the San Francisco International Airport is shown lined up together besides the landing area of the runway. In real life they would have not been deployed that way--bunched up and so close to the runway that they could all be taken out by an aircraft in distress crashing into them.
The car Julie is driving when Lyle forces the accelerator to the floor has a 5.4L 225 horsepower engine and would have gone much faster, and Julie would not have been able to stay on the winding road nearly as long as she did.
At the end of the film's opening music, Julie drives through the first street intersection without stopping at the STOP sign on the corner.
Actually, there is a cut just before the car gets to the STOP sign, so it cannot be definitively stated that drove though the intersection. Also, she is very stressed at this point, so it would be understandable if she actually ran the sign.
In the opening scene, Julie is constantly turning the steering wheel, even when the rear projection shows the car to be moving in a straight line.
When Cliff is shot, a man comes out of a house and looks around. In the long shot of the porch, the lights are bright. However, in the closeup, it is dimly lit. Apparently, different lighting was used for the rear projection and the live action.
When the man comes out of the house after hearing a shot, the floodlight on the outside of the house is off. Then while the man is standing outside after a few moments, the light suddenly comes on. Then when the man goes back inside, he turns off the lights including the floodlight. Apparently, there was a crew person turning the floodlight on and off for the rear projection sections.
When Julie is in bed and awakened by the taped piano music, the piano audio is loud. However, in the following shot of the cop turning off the tape machine in the car, the audio is turned down low. In reality, the audio volume would be the opposite. Loud at the source which is the car while getting lower the further one is away from it.
When a passenger on the plane asks Julie for the time, her mouth movements don't match the words she speaks.
When Julie returns to the clubhouse from playing golf, a moving shadow of the camera and its operator is seen as she walks into the restaurant.
The shadow of a boom mic is visible in hotel lobby and police office scenes, plus many other scenes as well.
When Julie is staying with Denise Martin in her apartment, Doris Day is wearing her own personal robe; a DMD monogram can be seen on the back.
When Det. Pringle is given a phone number to dial to contact the controller early in the flight sequence, the number he is shown dialing is 2 or 3 digits shorter than the number he was given to call.
When Lyle tells Cliff he'll give him 30 seconds to make up his mind, he starts counting at "10" and only 9 seconds actually elapse before he reaches "27". At that point, Cliff agrees.
Julie asks the store clerk where the police station is, and the clerk replies, "Two blocks up, one block over." Not knowing the town, Julie wouldn't be able to find the police station with such vague directions.
