Gotye is a Belgian-born Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter.
Gotye has released three studio albums independently and one album featuring remixes of tracks from his first two albums. He is a founding member of the Melbourne indie-pop trio The Basics, who have independently released four studio albums and numerous other titles since 2002. His voice has been compared to those of Peter Gabriel and Sting.
Gotye's 2011 single 'Somebody That I Used to Know' reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the fifth Australian-based artist to do so and the second born in Belgium (after The Singing Nun in 1963). He has won five ARIA Awards and received a nomination for an MTV EMA for Best Asia and Pacific Act. On 10 February 2013, he won three Grammy Awards at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards Show: Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for 'Somebody That I Used to Know' and Best Alternative Music Album for Making Mirrors.
The Australian newspaper identified Gotye in its "top 50 most influential Australians in the arts" list; the selection was largely based upon the success of the 'Somebody That I Used to Know' song and the publication described the composition as "one of the most successful songs in Australian music history".- Roger Etienne was born on 9 December 1923 in Bruges, Belgium. Lander Haverals (1985 - Bruges) developed his passion for film and documentary at the Mooov Film Festival, formerly known as Cinema Novo. At the age of 16, he was selected to be a member of the jury and thereafter, he became a passionate volunteer at the festival. He turned his passion into his job after studying at the National Radio and Film Institution (Narafi) in Brussels, where he successfully graduated in 2007. Lander worked from 2007 to 2011 for the television and film production company "Woestijnvis" (Desert Fish) and from 2014 he also started working for "De Chinezen". In spring 2011, to satisfy his passion for photography and human interest, he took a year long break to travel around the world to meet new people and immerse himself in new cultures. So far, in his career he has always focused on human interest and documentaries. As a director he worked for the daily TV shows: "Man Bijt Hond" (Man Bites Dog) and "Iedereen Beroemd" (Everyone Famous). Both are about the daily struggles and joys of life. As well as several documentary series: "De Rechtbank" ("Court" - about the justice system in Belgium), "De Recherche" ("Detectives" - following several crime solving units in Belgium), "De Noodcentrale" ("Emergency Call Centre"), "De Acht" (travel show - following the diaries of eight Belgian explorers). With award winning short "Pure Waanzin" ("Pure Madness") he realized a long existing dream and hopes to break the taboo of a very well known, but not widely spoken social problem: mental suffering. This is in loving memory of his brother Jelle, who committed suicide in 2007. This short led to a TV-series and feature documentary "Strokes Of Madness". His latest video art project "Minds On Mute" was made in collaboration with the talented artist Annick Timmermans and visions a meaningless future, where people have lost their identity, are lonely and indifferent due to a society saturated with technology.
