Horror masters Brian Yuzna and John Penney have joined forces to launch the brand new genre label Dark Arts Entertainment, and first up from the distribution company is the film Terror Firma.
Dark Arts Entertainment will release Terror Firma on Blu-ray August 27, 2024.
Spinning a modern-day allegory of the turbulent times we’re living in, Terror Firma is described as a sci-fi thriller and debut film from writer-director Jake Macpherson. “It weaves a dark, out-of-this-world mystery of family, betrayal, and deadly flora,” Dark Arts previews.
In the film, “When struggling artist Lola has nowhere else to go, she uncomfortably leans on her older brother Louis for help. Agbo on Wednesday revealed the winners of its 48-hour filmmaking competition No Sleep ‘til Film Fest.
The 48-hour short filmmaking competition invites emerging creators to make a bite-sized film, three minutes or less, based off of the provided creative prompt. The judges for the festival included Agbo co-founders and directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Chief Creative Officer Angela Russo-Otstot, Chief Innovation Officer Jake Aust, Chief Marketing Officer Marian Koltai-Levine, President of Film Michael Disco, and President of TV Scott Nemes.
Darren Hinchy, an Irish filmmaker who lives in Canada, won first place for his short Time of Your Life, about a college freshman’s life unfolding solely on her phone screen.
He will receive a Red Komodo Starter Pack, a new GoPro action camera, a Surface Pro 9 from Microsoft, a copy of DaVinci Resolve Studio from Blackmagic Design, a copy of Final Draft screenwriting software, Agbo merch and a Red Bull swag bag.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ (Habitat LA) recently hosted its 19th annual Power Women, Power Tools build event at Isabel Villas — Habitat LA’s newest affordable housing development in South Los Angeles.
Celebrity supporters and women executives from corporations and organizations throughout LA County gathered to help build 8 homes alongside future homebuyers. Habitat LA and presenting sponsor City National Bank hosted this legendary build day to spotlight underinvested communities and celebrate heroic women leaders of diverse backgrounds.
This years’ theme “Powered by Purpose” rings true as Habitat LA celebrates the efforts of power women who use their voices to build strength, stability, and self-reliance in their industries, creating a ripple effect within local communities. From installing insulation to landscaping and painting, more than 150 participants picked up a power tool to help Habitat LA revitalize the Willowbrook Neighborhood by building much-needed new affordable homes.
