The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power wrapped up in October, and while the show has taken its lumps over the years, it's found its fanbase and turned in a pretty enjoyable season of TV...if you approach it in the right way.
As a longtime Lord of the Rings dork who knows way too much about the lore of Middle-earth, watching The Rings of Power is an odd experience. The show is set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings story most people know. Author J.R.R. Tolkien sketched out what happened during the Second Age, but he didn't write a novel series about it, and the producers on The Rings of Power have taken huge liberties in filling in the gaps. Sometimes the show seems like it's working hard to hew close to Tolkien's outline,...

[This story contains major spoilers from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two, episode eight.]
Spoiler alert… Sauron and Galadriel’s long-awaited battle in Amazon Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings prequel series finally came to fruition Thursday night.
The Rings of Power‘s season two finale didn’t end well for the elf, played by Morfydd Clark, who battles her frenemy fiercely. After a sharply choreographed sword fight, she is stabbed by the crown of Charlie Vickers’ Sauron, but not before he offers her a chance to become Queen. She shuts him down with “a roundhouse kick to the face,” as Vickers describes it, and he drives the weapon into her chest. He finally rips from her body the nine rings he was in search of. It’s the pure evil form of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s villain that audiences have been anticipating.

Earlier this week, Prime Video aired the season 2 finale of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The episode revolved around the Siege of Eregion, an elven city that was a hub of culture and industry during the Second Age of Middle-earth. Unfortunatley, it was devastated in the battle. We got to talk to The Rings of Power stars Robert Aramayo (Elrond) and Benjamin Walker (Gil-galad) about what it meant to be in the thick of it.
Aramayo, who you may also remember as young Ned Stark from Game of Thrones, knew the Siege of Eregion was a big moment from author J.R.R. Tolkien's mythology and sounded determined to get it right. "The main thing was we were doing the siege of Eregion, you know what I mean?" he told us. "I felt a lot of pressure and a lot of responsibility and I really wanted it to be something.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 just wrapped up, and Elrond makes a major choice that goes against everything he's been fighting for.
Throughout the second season of Amazon Studios' streaming epic, Robert Aramayo's Elrond has been rebelling against the use of the Elven rings of power as hard as he could. As it goes, he does fail, and the Elves decide to use them anyway.
Elrond, however, doesn't. That is, until the Season 2 finale when he's forced to put one on to save Galadriel's (with whom he has a strong bond) life after her fight with Sauron, Middle Earth's big bad.

Read, friend. Then enter: This article contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power!"
"The Rings of Power" has officially wrapped up its second season courtesy of a season finale loaded with major events and reveals for countless characters. We know who the Stranger is now. Celebrimbor has met his grisly doom. Adar is no more. The same can be said for King Durin. Finally, Sauron is officially ascendant and in possession of Rings of Power (though not the One Ring yet).
In the midst of all of the hullabaloo, it was easy to miss another major reveal, one that will have profound consequences on the history of Middle-earth. This one was connected to a place rather than a person, much like the unleashing of Mount Doom in season 1. When Mordor is minted, though, the hell-on-earth event is abundantly obvious. It even...

This post contains spoilers for "The Rings of Power" season 2, episode 7. Proceed with caution!
The penultimate episode of "The Rings of Power" season 2 had plenty of splashy moments. There was a giant battle that you could actually follow. The Nine Rings for Mortal Men officially entered circulation in Middle-earth, and we learned why they turn men evil. We even almost had an epic cavalry charge — although the reason they never actually gave it to us will baffle me to the end of my days.
Despite the overload of events, one melodramatic moment in the episode continued to capture the polarizing commentary of the internet days after it came out: that smooch between Elrond and Galadriel. I already debunked the question of whether the shocking kiss happens in the "Lord of the Rings" books last week, but since that time, Elrond actor Robert Aramayo himself has come forward to clarify another...

Rings of Power: Morfydd Clark and Robert Aramayo React to Elrond and Galadriel’s Kiss - Main Image
The Siege of Eregion was the main focus of the latest episode of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but one scene that caught fans particularly off guard was the kiss between Galadriel and Elrond.
While fans go heads and tails about what the kiss between the two means for the characters, Inside the Rings of Power, outright asked Morfydd Clark and Robert Aramayo about their reaction to the moment.
Morfydd Clark on Elrond x Galadriel’s Rings of Power Kiss
For context, the scene had Galadriel being held captive by Adar and he demands that Elrond give him Galadriel’s ring Nenya in exchange for her life. Elrond refuses but is then allowed to say goodbye to Galadriel, to which he gives her a kiss.

The latest episode of The Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power revolved around the Siege of Eregion, a major moment from J.R.R. Tolkien's mythology of Middle-earth. On one side, an army of orcs threatens the elven city. The elf Elrond (Robert Aramayo) tries to negotiate with their leader Adar (Sam Hazeldine), who has taken his friend Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) prisoner. Thinking that Galadriel will die in the coming conflict, Elrond asks Adar leave to say goodbye. Getting it, he goes over to Galadriel, looks her in the eye, and kisses her.
This surprised a lot of fans, not least before Elrond will go on to marry Galadriel's daughter Celebrían, so he's kissing his future mother-in-law. According to Robert Aramayo, it surprised him too when he first read it in the script. "I too was shocked when I read that. We both were," he told Radio Times. "We talked...

The penultimate season 2 episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now streaming, and despite featuring a massive battle and a couple of deaths (though we'd say Arondir is still kicking), it was a kiss between two characters that emerged as the biggest talking point.
Spoilers from this point on.
Though they never had a relationship in J.R.R. Tolkien's source material, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) locked lips in "Doomed To Die." Were these Elven comrades simply unable to contain their feelings any longer, giving in to their passionate desire for one another?
Not exactly.
The kiss was actually a strategic play on Elrond's part, as he was able to slip the captured Galadriel a cloak pin that she would later use to free herself from Adar. While some fans enjoyed this moment and are even "shipping" the characters, a lot of others...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, episode 7, marks the halfway point of a spectacular three-episode run. This group of episodes depicts the Siege of Eregion. I believe it is a monumental achievement in fantasy series television.
To Sauron’s dismay, the episode of The Rings of Power begins with still failing to forge the nine rings. Also, the Orcs damn the river, cutting off reinforcements for Eregion, who are now under siege from Adar.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2, Episode 7, “Doomed To Die.”]
Shortly before “The Rings of Power” Season 2 debuted, there was a short-lived Twitter tiff over whether fans should care how much money Amazon spends on its “Lord of the Rings” prequel series. On one side, there were fans happy to take their entertainment at face value: “It’s TV! It’s meant to be fun! If a trillion-dollar shopping giant wants to cough up half a bill on the boss’ favorite fantasy franchise, then who are we to complain? And if you don’t like it, don’t watch it — there are other shows, you know.”
Fair points, to be sure, but the opposition argument focused on the bigger picture: “Think of all the other shows Amazon could’ve made with $465 million. Think of all the other artists who could’ve been working on those shows.

Heads up! This article has some major spoilers for season 2, episode 7 of "The Rings of Power." View first, friend, and then enter.
Episode 7 of season 2 of "The Rings of Power" is chock-full of action. From Sauron (as Annatar) taking over the defenses of Eregion, to Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) leading a desperate attempt to break that same siege, the epic installment of Jd Payne and Patrick McKay's Second Age story is dripping with Middle-earth drama.

I say this as someone who is genuinely enjoying the show and yet is painfully aware of how many alterations and adjustments have had to happen to pull this thing off. Lo! This article contains some major spoilers for both "The Rings of Power" and Tolkien's source material. Read at your own peril.
"The Rings of Power" season 2, episode 7, is officially live, and with it comes some shocking new developments in the world of Elves. We're not even talking about the fact that Adar (Sam Hazeldine) is besieging Celebrimbor's city or that Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Gil-galad's (Benjamin Walker) Elven relief force is on the ropes after trying to break the siege.
This is about the one item on the episode 7 menu that will have all of the Middle-earth tabloids ablaze for months to come. Elrond and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) have officially locked lips. You heard it here first, folks. (Or maybe you watched it...

The first five episodes of The Rings of Power Season 2 have been a true test of patience. I mean, if you look at how the first season set up each of the plotlines and if you really think about how much they’ve progressed over the course of five incredibly long drawn out episodes, you’re bound to get at least a little angry. Apart from everything that’s going on between Sauron (or Annatar) and Celebrimbor, everything else is moving at a snail’s pace. And if the intention behind the slow-burn nature of the storytelling is to allow the audience to marinate in all the drama and tension that exists between the characters, then they’re clearly failing at that too. Why? Because these characters have little-to-no depth. What you see is what you get. The show has been quite lackluster in terms of the action too. It...

We're now two seasons into "The Rings of Power," and I'm going to report some breaking news here: Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay haven't been shy about adding to and changing things up from J.R.R. Tolkien's original material. Shocker, I know! To be fair, much of this was an unavoidable aspect of translating literally eons of Middle-earth history recorded in the text into a traditional television show. The rest came as a result of creative choices meant to make this more entertaining and digestible than it otherwise would've been. Ask yourselves, dear readers: Would the average viewer rather struggle to keep track of two dozen minor characters all filling vaguely interchangeable roles, or simply follow "non-canonical" creations like Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s sixth episode marks the beginning of a spectacular three-episode run known as the Siege of Eregion, a monumental achievement. The risks are accurate, the action is thrilling, and the characters are begging to test the depths of their resiliency.
However, beyond the great siege, there are plenty of other things to discuss and analyze in The Rings of Power—for instance, the mutual understanding between Adar and Galadriel, Queen Miriel’s sea trial, and how Sauron keeps Celebrimbor in the dark about what’s happening in Eregion.

For two seasons, Amazon Prime Video's Rings of Power has explored the relationship between Elrond and Galadriel, leading fans to wonder if they're family, just friends, or maybe something more.
Unlike most of the Rings of Power cast (Gandalf confirmation pending), Morfydd Clark (Galadriel) and Robert Aramayo (Elrond) play younger versions of well-known characters from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
While the two Elves did not always share scenes on the big screen, their close bond is key to their respective Rings of Power storylines.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is off to a great start! The first three episodes were released on Prime Video on Aug. 29. Now, the fourth episode of the season is now streaming, as of Thursday, Sept. 5.
Finally, in the third episode, Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) and Sauron (Charlie Vickers), disguised as Annatar, started making the rings for the Dwarves. It’s called the “Rings of Power” after all, so they should probably get busy.
Elrond and Galadriel set off toward Eregion
In episode 4, the story picks up at the very end of the third episode. Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) have assembled a team to accompany them on their way to Eregion. They believe that Sauron has already returned to influence Celebrimbor, and they’re right!

This article from the Prime Video series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022) Season 2 Episode 4 contains significant spoilers.
The fourth episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power begins with Elrond leading a mission to Celebrimbor. He, along with Galadriel and four other Elves, finds that a bridge has been destroyed, causing a fortnight’s delay in their travel. Nenya tells Galadriel that this is a trap set by Sauron.
Elrond decides to travel south, much to the chagrin of Galadriel, who questions him with a slight alveolar trill on the “R” in his name. The commander berates her, asking what Galadriel’s intentions are. She tells Elrond that her only intention is to avoid getting anyone killed, including him.
However, Elrond chooses expediency over safety. The friction between them is turning into a deeper fire—by that, I mean romance. At some point,...

The Rings of Power returned to our small screens with a second season. Prime Video started things off with a three-episode premiere, and, well, all three of them were pretty boring. On a technical level, the show continues to be great. The cast is splendid. The story, on a thematic level, maintains some form of relevance. But the meandering storytelling, reliance on fanservice, and echoing of the aesthetic of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy keep the show from becoming its own thing. In contrast, a lot of critics who had the privilege of watching all the episodes of the show before filing their reviews were absolutely raving about it. I wasn’t one of them. But will my opinion about the show begin to change after the fourth episode? (Spoiler alert) No, it won’t. I mean, there are things to like about it, but overall,...

The Rings of Power is currently airing its second season. The show’s first season, which premiered in 2022, received a mixed reception despite Amazon’s substantial investment. Anticipation was high, but issues began surfacing with the release of initial promotional materials.
The show faced widespread criticism on multiple fronts, including its costume design, the portrayal of Galadriel, and various inconsistencies with the source material. One of the most debated aspects was the show’s suggestion of an enemies-to-lovers arc between Galadriel and Halbrand.
The critical reception for the second season of The Rings of Power has been excellent so far, with many noting improvements in various aspects of the show. While it’s uncertain whether this positive feedback will continue throughout the season, the initial enthusiasm could attract viewers who were previously uninterested.
One of those potential viewers is Hugo Weaving, who famously portrayed Elrond in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

‘The Rings of Power’ is currently airing its second season. The show aired its first season back in 2022 to a somewhat mixed reception which is a shame considering the eye-watering sum of money Amazon spent on it. The show was initially highly awaited, but as soon as the first promo materials started – the trouble started as well.
It’s hard to think of an aspect of the show that wasn’t criticized by the audiences. Starting with cheap-looking costumes, the portrayal of Galadriel, and numerous inconsistencies with the source material. One one the most highly criticized aspects was that the show somewhat hinted that there’s an enemies-to-lovers type of arc going between Galadriel and Halbrand.
So far the critical reception for the second season has been excellent, with many pointing out that the show has improved in several aspects. Whether that remains the case throughout the whole run, remains to be seen,...

When The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring hit theaters in 2001, fans were captivated by its epic storytelling and stunning visuals. But for some die-hard Tolkien enthusiasts, one question lingered: where was Tom Bombadil? This whimsical, enigmatic character—alongside the menacing Old Man Willow—played a memorable role in the early chapters of the book.

Yet, Peter Jackson made a bold decision to exclude them from his film adaptation. Why? It all boiled down to keeping the focus sharp and the storyline streamlined. Here’s the full story!

“Rings of Power” Season 2 is sending Gil-Galad to war.
The season picks up shortly after the creation of the three elven rings — Narya, Nenya and Vilya — and the reveal that Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) was Sauron all along. Now, Gil-Galad has some serious choices to make.
Benjamin Walker, who plays the elf high king of Noldor, said that just as he was getting used to playing the Gil-Galad as a peacetime leader, he had to switch gears and look at him in a whole new way as he prepares for war.

Middle-Earth is seemingly running out of time with the Dark Lord Sauron still on the loose. But why does Herald Elrond want to destroy the rings of power? These were the elves' last hope, after all.
Spoiler Warning: This article contains major spoilers for The Rings of Power season 2, so proceed with caution.
Elrond Saw Darkness in the Rings, Despite the High King's Orders
Galadriel (played by Morfydd Clark) recently unveiled the truth: Halbrand was Sauron's human disguise, which the High King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) didn't take lightly.
As a part of their last hope, the High King believes that the three rings would be their last hope in saving the elven kingdom. Eldron (Robert Aramayo), on the other hand, refused to believe that Sauron's creations would help them from their tragic fate.

Speak, friend, and enter ... but only after watching the first three episodes of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" season 2. Major spoilers abound.
"The Rings of Power" is officially back and better than ever, and with it comes all the usual deep-cut references to complicated lore that author J.R.R. Tolkien first dreamed up all those decades ago. Much of that ended up on the big screen in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies, taking some seriously out-there topics and turning them into pop culture staples. In no time at all, everyone knew about the seductive temptations inherent in the various rings of power, the stark differences between Hobbits and elves and dwarves, and all the nerdiest details that, once upon a time, only ever existed in fan-run wiki sites and niche internet forums. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is now streaming on Prime Video. Fans have been waiting for more than two years to watch the new episodes of the season.
At the end of the first season, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) knows that Sauron (Charlie Vickers) is here. He’s offered a position in his new world, but she rebukes him for now. He ends the season heading for Mordor to reclaim his crown.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is back for Season 2, and this time around there are a number of new characters to keep straight. With Sauron revealed to be Halbrand at the end of Season 1, the chess pieces are now fully in the open and the Dark Lord is masquerading as yet another new character this season in order to try and forge the titular rings. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returned on Thursday morning with a thrilling flashback, lots of deception, and a problematic partnership. Let’s recap just the first of the three new episodes, now streaming on Prime Video.
As Season 2 opens, Sauron (played by Charlie Vickers) addresses his hordes at Forodwaith. Adar (Sam Hazeldine, replacing Joseph Mawle), the dastardly Orc who caused so much trouble last season, stands nearby, his expression unreadable. The Orcs bristle at Sauron’s admission that many of them will die in pursuit of “this new, perfect order,” but none move against him. Not yet.

We’ve all (probably) watched so much TV, too much TV, and our brains are jam-packed with storylines, characters, and information to remember what happened in The Rings of Power season 1 finale.
We shared a few important points for you to remember heading into The Rings of Power season 2 on Thursday, Aug. 29.
The Rings of Power season 1 recap
Amazon shared a recap of The Rings of Power season 1. It’s a pretty good reminder of some of the main points that happened in the first season.
Heading into season 2, it’s important to remember where we started with Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and where things ended. Early in the season, Galadriel believed that Sauron was not killed as previously suggested. She travels far and wide,...

“Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 is finally here, and Sauron is making a bigger play for power.
Season 1 of the series introduced us to the Second Age of Middle-earth – thousands of years before the stories of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.” The season packed quite a lot into just eight episodes, jumping all over the continent, dealing with elven and dwarven cultures one moment and revealing the “proto-hobbit” Harfoots the next. It’s a lot of story to untangle to prep for Season 2 but these are the major players and events to remember to get you ready.
Dive into our “Rings of Power” Season 1 recap for everything you need to know to get you ready to head back to Middle-earth.

Plot: Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without an army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season One’s epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.

Rumour has it that Prime Video's The Rings Of Power is the highest-budgeted TV show ever made — though the maths depends on including the vast amount paid for the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien’s magnum opus, The Lord Of The Rings. It certainly looks expensive, from its extensive locations to the huge sets. More importantly, however, the plot lives up to the packaging.
It may be cobbled together from tag-ends of material in Tolkien’s appendices, but this packs more incident and excitement into its second season than some entire books. If you’re going to throw money at a TV screen, you can only hope it looks and sounds as good as this.
Admittedly, showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay are standing on the shoulders of giants. They have Tolkien’s unmatched worldbuilding, and the visuals owe a heavy debt to...

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 gets off on the wrong foot — or so it seems. Long before Sauron (Charlie Vickers) first meets Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) on that makeshift raft stranded in the ocean, he was in a dark castle pitching his leadership potential to an army of orcs. It doesn’t go well, which leaves Sauron to do what he does best: Lurk in the shadows, stockpile energy from passing rats, and slowly build himself back into a force to be reckoned with. It’s only then, as he’s on his way back to the orc army (presumably to secure their leadership by less diplomatic means), that he makes a curious choice. The notoriously single-minded monster actually pivots away from his primary plan. At the invitation of a kind, elderly man, Sauron decides to travel with some fleeing villagers to destinations unknown.
