Mark is an award-winning director, producer, and cinematographer. He is a 2019 Guggenheim Fellow.
His first feature, MARMATO, premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and went on to win 15 international awards, including the Grand Jury Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival. It was distributed by Participant Media, Netflix and Univision.
His second feature, A RIVER BELOW premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim and won the Environmental Doc Award at the Sheffield Documentary Festival and the Audience Award at the Zurich Film Festival. It was distributed by Netflix, Amazon, and Grasshopper Film.
His recent work as producer include the Emmy-winning documentary, THE TERRITORY that premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by National Geographic. The film was shortlisted for 2023 Academy Awards and won a Peabody Award. He is executive producer of the award-winning PBS documentary, THE BODY POLITIC. He is the producer for the feature documentary, LOST IN THE AMAZON, directed by the Oscar-winning team of Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin and distributed by National Geographic Documentary Films.
