The casts of 9-1-1 and Jury Duty faced off in the latest episode of Celebrity Family Feud, and we have to admit, at the beginning, we didn’t see how the former could win. Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Tracie Thoms, and Bryan Safi from 9-1-1, playing for the American Red Cross, faced off against Ronald Gladden, Cassandra Blair, Maria Russell, David Brown, Susan Berger, and Edy Modica from Jury Duty, playing for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. Stark and Gladden faced off first. “We asked 100 men, fill in the blank, you know a date’s not into you if she ____ after you kiss her,” host Steve Harvey said. Stark rang in first with “comes up with an excuse,” but it wasn’t on the board. “Pulls out her phone,” Gladden said, and it, too, wasn’t on the board. Then it went to Guzman,...

The rain stayed away from Santa Monica Beach on Sunday (February 25) as Past Lives was named best film and Celine Song best director at the 39th annual Spirit Awards.

Lara Parker, who found the role of a lifetime at just 28 years old when she was cast by Dark Shadows producer Dan Curtis as the beautiful, vengeful and altogether evil witch Angelique Bouchard Collins, died October 12 in her sleep in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer. She was 84.
Her death was announced by producer Jim Pierson of Dan Curtis Productions, on behalf of Parker’s family.
“I’m heartbroken, as all of us are who knew and loved her,” said her Dark Shadows co-star and longtime friend Kathryn Leigh Scott in a statement. “She graced our lives with her beauty, talent and friendship, and we are all richer for having had her in our lives.”
Parker, who also authored four popular Dark Shadows-related novels from 1998-2016, arrived on the supernatural soap opera in 1967, not long after Canadian actor Jonathan Frid had been cast as vampire Barnabas Collins. Frid...

When the list of potential Emmy nominees was officially released on Thursday, the Amazon Freevee genre-bending comedy “Jury Duty” listed six submissions for Emmy Awards comedy supporting actor and actress: James Marsden, David Brown, Susan Berger, Cassandra Blair, Edy Modica and Rashida Olayiwola. That may not seem particularly significant, but for a series that seemingly against all odds caught hold of the zeitgeist this past spring, it’s massive. The craziest part is that it actually has a chance of pulling in an Emmy nom or two – perhaps even in comedy series and (maybe especially) comedy series casting for its casting director Susie Farris.
In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that “Jury Duty” is going to be the Andrea Riseborough of this Emmy season and shock the awards world as a grassroots phenomenon by cracking the best comedy nominee lineup. And it...

In the final episode of Jury Duty, the cast and crew take the time to walk unknowing hero Ronald Gladden through the production behind everything he just experienced. He’s still in disbelief even as the hidden cameras and fake sets are revealed and actors share their real names, unable to take it all in. But it’s now been more than a year since the series was filmed, and Gladden is back to reflect and reveal even more behind-the-scenes secrets alongside director Jake Szymanski and stars James Marsden, Mekki Leeper (Noah), Cassandra Blair (Vanessa), and Maria Russell (Inez) for Jury Duty Exclusive Cast Commentary episodes.

Ronald Gladden is reliving his Jury Duty experience. He and the other stars of Amazon Freevee’s comedic docuseries recently came together to record an exclusive cast commentary on the show. The special episodes hit the ad-supported streaming service on June 1.

In the commentary on the first episode, the solar panel installer from San Diego reflects on one of the most memorable moments from the jury selection process in the fictional case of Hilgrove vs. Morris. Gladden, who believed he was participating in a documentary about a real trial, suggested to another potential juror that he might be able to get out of serving if he tells the judge he is racist. To his shock, Noah (played by Mekki Leeper) ran with the idea.
Gladden says he was horrified as he watched Noah first declare that he was racist, then quickly apologize and backtrack.

Ronald Gladden's Hollywood journey is continuing. The solar contractor-turned-comedy star appears in a new ad with Ryan Reynolds for the actor's mobile brand, Mint Mobile. In the video posted to Reynolds's Instagram, the pair even hug.
"It's hard to believe in a time of crazy inflation Mint is still just $15 a month," Reynolds begins the ad. "Can you believe that, Ronald?"
Gladden walks into frame; his lower-third reads, "Ronald Gladden, All-Around Good Guy." "No, this doesn't seem real," Gladden says.
"Well it is," Reynolds counters. "Premium wireless, $15 a month. What's your problem?"
"Are there hidden cameras?" Gladden asks. Reynolds points him to the "massive" camera in front of them. "I have some major trust issues," Gladden admits. "I've been through some sh*t, man." Reynolds gives him a hug and tells him, "I've got you. You can trust me.

The reality comedy series “Jury Duty” is an elaborate prank on one normal man, and you’ll want to be in on the joke.
On Tuesday, Amazon released a trailer for the series, which is coming to the free ad-supported service Freevee on April 7. It’s a “docu-comedy” following Ronald Gladden, a solar contractor from San Diego who thinks he’s taking part in a documentary about an American jury trial, from juror selection through verdict. In reality, it’s all fake, every other participant is an actor, and everything that happens is carefully scripted to make him feel like he’s taking crazy pills.
“Jury Duty” was created by “The Office” veterans Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and “Who Is America?” producer Todd Schulman is an EP. Cody Heller (“Dummy”) is the showrunner, and Jake Szymanski (“The Package”) is the director.

The creative minds behind The Office set their new docu-style comedy in the courtroom. Amazon Freevee’s Jury Duty, which just released a trailer, focuses on 12 jurors…but only one doesn’t realize he’s not sitting on a real jury.
“Jury Duty originated with a question: Was it possible to make a sitcom like The Office about a trial, populate it with brilliant comedic performers, and put a real person at the center of the show who doesn’t realize he’s surrounded by actors?” said executive producer Todd Schulman (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm). “We honestly had no idea, but when we pitched it to Freevee we pretended like it was a sure thing. Thank God we pulled it off.”
The Office‘s Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky created the series and serve as executive producers. David Bernad (The White Lotus), Ruben Fleischer (Superstore), Nicholas Hatton (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Cody Heller...

“Jury Duty,” the upcoming docu-style comedy series starring James Marsden as himself, explores truths stranger than fiction when one unsuspecting juror is put in a courtroom of actors for a fake case and a faker documentary.
Marsden leads the “Truman Show”-style misadventure, playing a version of himself who tries – and fails – to get out of his civic duty when the judge fails to recognize him as a public figure. In the first trailer for the Amazon Freevee series, which dropped Tuesday, other characters are seen pushing the envelope of what’s acceptable behavior in the literal court of law – while real-life juror Ronald Gladden goes about his duty being none the wiser that everything is staged.
Coming from the producers of “The Office,” “The White Lotus” and “Bad Trip,” “Jury Duty” is just the latest comedy series to blend genres of reality and scripted, following in the steps of Sacha Baron Cohen,...
