Janet Dyer is a fourth generation San Franciscan She has 2 grown children Liz and Eric who both live in San Francisco. Janet grew up in Marin county and Petaluma CA. where she studied drama and performed in junior high and high school plays. She danced the twist and the stroll in American Graffiti, got a close up and was hooked. While attending Santa Rosa Junior College she was a straight A student in theater arts and was accepted in UCLA's drama department but was talked out of the major she loved by a counselor who convinced her that Drama was a fluff degree and that she would go nowhere. It was the 1970's so she changed majors to Recreational Therapy. Janet had excelled at her job as a recreational therapist assistant at Santa Rosa Junior College, so she transferred to UCSB to major in Recreational Therapy. While attending UCSB she worked her way through school at the Santa Barbara Winery. In 1976 and she convinced her boss to allow her to sell wine for a day in Santa Maria. She was wildly successful. Janet became the first woman to sell wine wholesale in Ventura County and the first woman to sell wholesale fine wine in Santa Barbara County. Janet faced many obstacles but persevered and became one of the first women in the USA in the wholesale wine business. She has held almost every position in the wholesale wine business except president and has written a screenplay about it called "Corked" which is in development. In November of 2019 her short also called "Corked" was shot in Healdsburg, CA. Janet was the executive producer.
Janet never lost her love of film and theater and has studied acting and film for 11 years now including the Groundling's in LA. She partnered with writer/producer/director Lori Shockley and in 2016 formed Lotus Wine Films, LLC. Lori Shockley wrote and directed "Corked" short film which is receiving many accolades.
Janet lives in San Francisco with her dog Tessa, her tuxedo cat Rudy and partner David. She is a SAG AFTRA board member and delegate.
