It wasn’t all fun and games on Ryan Murphy’s “The Glee Project”, apparently.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the final episode of the reality show, that aired from 2011 to 2012, contestants have spoken out about their time on the series.
Insider interviewed multiple stars of the show, which was dedicated to finding “Glee”‘s next big star, with season 2 contestant Abraham Lim admitting: “There were so many great elements of the show, but it was also really anxiety-inducing and there was a lot of trauma. Trauma bonds were made.”
Executive producer Shauna Minoprio insisted it was all about who Murphy wanted to write a “Glee” character for.
“What’s interesting about the show is, this was about somebody’s creative vision,” Minoprio told the publication. “It wasn’t about who’s the best singer or dancer. It was about who Ryan Murphy was the most excited to write a character for.

There was a time when “Glee” dominated pop culture, and as a result, a reality competition spinoff was briefly in the spotlight as well. But, according to some of the contestants on “The Glee Project,” that spinoff series actually fostered “a lot of trauma.”
In a new oral history with Insider, former winners and runners-up of “The Glee Project” — including Damian McGinty, Samuel Larsen and Lindsay Pearce — admitted that the reality show was pretty emotionally damaging at times, saying that the producers “manipulated” the young contestants into storylines they wanted to see on screen.
“It was abuse, whether they thought it was or wasn’t,” Pearce, who had a brief arc as Harmony “the Gerber baby” on the show, said. “They made a successful reality television show, but the cost was high for some of us.”
Pearce recalled two specific moments on the show, in which she was involved directly.

Which, given how mundane this film is, may be the best possible outcome for the movie… For without the negativity of reviews, Darrell Wheat’s modern-day slasher movie may just find an audience.

La-based Continental Media has picked up worldwide sales rights to Ebf Productions’ upcoming thriller Recovery.
Kirby Bliss Blanton (pictured) and Samuel Larsen have been cast in the project, set to shoot in the summer.
Recovery centres on a high school graduate who searches for the smart phone she believes to be lost, all the while unaware she is the target of twisted kidnap plot.
Alex Shaffer and James Landry Hébert round out the key cast.
Darrell Wheat makes his feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Kyle Arrington. Eric B. Fleischman’s Ebf Productions produces with Sean Tabibian.
“With our increased addiction to technology, especially our smart phones, I wanted to explore the lengths people would go to retrieve something stolen… especially something with personal information on it, even when you know you’re in over your head,” said Wheat.

Anyone who owns an iPhone knows what a useful app "Find My iPhone" is. That shit comes in handy, and I've personally used it several times. That being said, filmmaker Darrell Wheat is ready to use it for nefarious purposes in his new movie, Recovery.
The flick, starting production this summer, stars Kirby Bliss Blanton (pictured; The Green Inferno, Project X), Samuel Larsen (pictured; “Glee”), Alex Shaffer and James Landry Hébert. Recovery was written by Wheat and Kyle Arrington (“The Originals”). Eric B. Fleischman’s Ebf Productions and Sean Tabibian are producing. Continental Media reps international rights.

Following two wonderful seasons of sublime singing and dancing, “The Glee Project” has just been cancelled by the Oxygen Network.
A statement from the production company explained, "The Glee Project will not be returning to Oxygen but we are extremely proud of this series which launched the careers of several talented individuals.”
“The show had so much heart and we thank Ryan Murphy and all of the creative talent who helped make the series a critical darling.”
Despite launching the careers of Alex Newell, Blake Jenner, Samuel Larsen, and Damian McGinty, Oxygen cited declining ratings as their reason for pulling the plug. Additionally, the recent tragic death of Cory Monteith had nothing to do with the call.

Though "Glee" is already set for another two seasons (at least), Oxygen has officially canceled "The Glee Project." The reality series that launched the careers of recurring/series regulars Blake Jenner, Alex Newell, Samuel Larsen, and Damian McGinty will not be returning for a third season.

Daniel Radcliffe ready to play a dad, Henry Cavill is kind of hot, and Ecuador turns the wrong way on equality
Glee’s Samuel Larsen has had enough of his trademark dreadlocks and has chopped them off, documenting the process with a photographer. I, for one, was not quite expecting what we got in the end.

"Glee" star Samuel Larsen just lost his most recognizable trait: His dreadlocks!Larsen, who joined the Fox show after appearing on "The Glee Project," had been itching to cut off the dreads for some time now -- telling MTV in 2011 "I'm very much over my hair. If it was up to me, I'd have cut it a long time ago."And now he seems very happy with the decision to finally chop them off."Just for the record my neck feels freakin awesome okay. Seriously. #holla," he tweeted on Thursday after the haircut. We gotta say, we think he looks a lot better with short hair. What do you think? Vote in the gallery above! Read more...

Samuel Larsen is a new man! The 21-year-old Glee actor cut off his signature dreadlocks on Thursday, May 23. Larsen, who earned a recurring role as Joe Hart on the Fox musical series after being a co-winner of The Glee Project in 2011, documented his haircut in a photo shoot with photographer Chelsea Lauren. The actor showed off his short hair -- and muscles -- by posing shirtless in before and after pictures. After having some time to adjust to his new 'do, Larsen tweeted May 25, "Just [...]...

Is cable network Oxygen ready to cancel its reality show, "The Glee Project," after two seasons? While reports indicate that the "Glee" spin-off will not return for Season 3, its network says otherwise.
As first reported by TVLine, sources at Oxygen indicate that there were several factors involved in making the decision not to renew the show. Low ratings and the fact that "Glee" itself has not yet been renewed for a fifth season on Fox are believed to be the main reasons.
A statement from an Oxygen spokesperson, however, indicated that "The Glee Project" -- while not officially safe for another season -- still has a shot: "What TV Line reported was speculation. 'The Glee Project' has not been canceled."

Aspiring Glee stars, you might have to start trying to get on the hit Fox show the old-fashioned way. In addition to Oxygen's denial, sources tell us that no decision has been made about the future of the show. The Glee Project was responsible for getting the likes of Damian McGinty, Samuel Larsen, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell onto Glee with recurring or guest roles. If The Glee Project is...

It's been a couple of weeks since "Glee" left us with a couple of rather major cliffhangers. What happened to Emma (Jayma Mays)? Is Rachel (Lea Michele) pregnant? Is Finn (Cory Monteith) the father?
Maybe the musical tracks from the upcoming episode, "Girls (and Boys) on Film" will hold some answers. If not, it's at least fun to hear music from such movies as "Moulin Rouge," "Footloose," "Top Gun," "Ghost" and "Animal House."
We start with one of the biggest songs from a film, "Footloose," performed by Artie (Kevin McHale), Sam (Chord Overstreet), Joe (Samuel Larsen) and the rest of New Directions.
Next up are a pair of tunes from the Baz Luhrmann musical, "Moulin Rouge." Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) duet on "Come What May," while Marley (Melissa Benoist) and Unique (Alex Newell) take a medley of "Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend" and "Material Girl."

f there's one thing that a teen show needs, it's gratuitous nakedness. "Glee" recognizes this and thus presents us with an episode called, "Naked."
Of course, there are more ways to get naked than just taking off a shirt. This being the kind of show that it is, we can probably expect some emotional nakedness too. But emotions don't photo well, so we might as well enjoy "The Men of McKinley High" in their photo shoot.
Two of these calendar photos -- meant to raise money for (Spoiler Alert) Regionals -- have already been released. Ryder (Blake Jenner) and Blaine (Darren Criss) appeared in them as Mr. July and Mr. December, respectively. What about the other boys? Surely they will give us some eye candy too!
Judging from the photos released for "Naked," they will indeed.

Glee returning to primetime after the holiday hiatus is already enough to be excited about, but can you believe the New Directions boys will get halfway nude just two weeks after the show comes back? These photographs are proof: Chord Overstreet, Blake Jenner, Jacob Artist, Darren Criss, and Samuel Larsen will be showing off a whole lot more than vocals for the show's second episode from break, the wonderfully-titled "Naked". Now clearly, the boys are posing for an upcoming calendar of sorts, but let's be honest: Ryan Murphy needed any excuse in the world to cause a Darren Criss Sex Riot with a Chord Overstreet Ovary Explosion on the side, and we will take whatever we can get, however we can get it.
So who are you most excited to see bare it all for the camera when "Naked" airs on January 31st at 9pm? Darren? Blake? Jacob? Chord? Do...

Chaos reigns in the show choir world. Evil Sue Sylvester roams the halls of McKinley High. Rachel and Kurt see all of their dreams come true. This is the "Glee" episode they call "Swan Song."
Marley isn't dead, to begin with...
Ok, when did Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) become the sassy mean girl of New Directions? Because she certainly is here. Granted, her anger is somewhat justified. Marley's (Melissa Benoist) tumble at the end of "Gangnam Style" caused the entire club to rush her back to the practice room for TLC and juice boxes.
This was a mistake. Apparently, the draconian rules of show choir dictate that teams who leave the stage forfeit any chance of a win.
The Warblers have beaten New Directions at Sectionals. The competitive season is over.
Season 1, back again...
Remember how in season 1 of "Glee" the big conflict was evil Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and how...

"Glee" is going all-out with its Christmas episode this year. Not only is the show paying homage to the holiday classic, "Love, Actually," but "Glee, Actually" will also feature the return of some very familiar guest stars.
While we do not yet know which "Love, Actually" stories might be recreated in the "Glee" episode, we do know that there will be multiple storylines that somehow come together by the end of the hour. A few of those stories include:
Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Brittany (Heather Morris) think the world is going to end with the Mayan apocalypse and therefore try to live their lives to the fullest.Jake (Jacob Artist) and Puck (Mark Salling) reunite for a brotherly Hanukkah.Artie (Kevin McHale) has a holiday-themed dream (of the Ebenezer Scrooge variety, perhaps?).Kurt (Chris Colfer) has a Christmas he will never forget. (Spoiler Alert: It may be because Blaine (Darren Criss) is going to visit!

After you've stuffed your face full of turkey and various types of potatoes and pies, Fox is offering a super helping of "Glee" on Thanksgiving Day.
HuffPost TV has an exclusive sneak peek of "Glee's" superhero-themed episode, titled "Dynamic Duets" (Thursday, November 22 at 9 p.m. Et on Fox), in which the New Directions have some fresh drama: The Dalton Academy Warblers (yep, Blaine's former glee club) have stolen their Nationals trophy.
There's a laptop with a video message in the trophy's place. In the video, a young man with an altered voice and blurred out face, wearing an iconic Warblers blazer, says: "You have been living as national champions on borrowed time and that ends now. We have your trophy. Soon we'll have your title as well."
Could it be Blaine's (Darren Criss) Season 3 nemesis Sebastian Smythe (Grant Gustin)? Watch our clip above and tell us what you think.

After a baseball-induced hiatus, "Glee" returned with an episode absolutely packed with new spotlights and major developments, as well as some returning favorites. And the show proved the strength of the McKinley High storylines by sticking with them throughout the entire episode. In other words, there were no side trips to check on Rachel and Kurt in New York.
