Connext, the annual industry showcase for new films and TV dramas made in Flanders and Brussels, will present new projects from some of the region’s leading filmmakers including Kevin Janssens, Veerle Baetens, and Fien Troch.
The 2022 hybrid edition will run onsite in Antwerp from October 9-11 and online from October 10-24.

The titles include Origin, which will open through 108 Media’s speciality distribution label 108 Madcap for unconventional fare.
The action-sci-fi thriller centres on a group of medical researchers who test a new cure for cancer on themselves. Andreas Climent and Andre Hedetoft wrote and directed.
108 Madcap will also distribute mystery thriller Crushed, Megan Riakos’ directorial debut about a woman who returns to the family vineyard to solve her father’s death, and Israeli comedy-horror Freakout.

Five features by young filmmakers and two Flemish minority co-productions are among projects to receive production support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (Vaf).
The projects include first-time directors and the new Dardenne brothers film starring Marion Cotillard.
Total production, script and development support in its latest round of funding comes to €2.8m ($3.8m).
Black is the second feature by young Flemish directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (of Image which is currently in post-production). Written by Nele Meirhaeghe, the film is produced by Caviar.
D’Ardennen is Robin Pront’s directorial debut. Based on an original screenplay by actor Jeroen Perceval (Bullhead, Borgman) and Pront, the film is produced by Savage Film (Bullhead).
