Calling all horror fans, we need your attention! We have some very good news to share. This just in: a sequel to the 2019 box office hit Crawl is in the works at Paramount Pictures with French filmmaker Alexandre Aja back to direct. More on this upcoming horror film below.

Titled Crawl 2, the sequel is reportedly in development at Paramount, with Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Project Almanac) writing the screenplay. As mentioned above, Aja, who directed and produced the first film, will helm the sequel. He will be producing alongside Craig Flores and Sam Raimi, who also produced the first movie. In addition, Gregory Levasseur and Zainab Azizi are signed as executive producers.

2019’s Crawl was an effective thriller in which Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper found themselves going head-to-head with some nasty alligators. The film scared up an impressive $91.5m at the box office on a budget of just $14m.

Talks about a sequel started almost right away, but the last we heard about any concrete plans was in 2021 when director Alexandre Aja talked about the possibility of returning to gator-infested waters with a brand new story and new characters.

THR has reported that Paramount Pictures is developing Crawl 2, a sequel to the 2019 gator horror film directed by Alexandre Aja.

Production on the sequel is expected to get underway in Europe this fall, with Alexandre Aja returning to direct. He will also produce alongside Craig Flores and Sam Raimi. Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan, best known for writing Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Project Almanac, are penning the script. The report states that Crawl 2 will revolve around a new cast in a new location, this time said to be New York City.

The first movie starred Kaya Scodelario as Haley, a University of Florida swimmer who ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper) when a massive hurricane hits her hometown. After finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters.

Released in 2019, Alexandre Aja‘s Crawl put Kaya Scodelario up against a category 5 hurricane and a pack of hungry alligators, and the thrilling mix of action and suspense-horror proved to be a hit with audiences at the box office. On a $13 million production budget, Crawl scared up over $91 million worldwide, with sequel talks beginning almost immediately.

What’s the latest on Crawl 2, you might be wondering? THR reports today that Paramount Pictures is “deep in development” on the sequel, with Aja returning to direct! Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension) are writing.

The Hollywood Reporter notes, “Crawl 2 will feature a new cast and a new location, in this case the more urban dangers of New York City, according to sources.”

The studio is deep in development on a sequel to Crawl, its gator-gnashing horror movie released in 2019, and is eyeing a fall shoot in Europe.

Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan, known for penning horror flick Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and time-travel romp Project Almanac, are writing the script.

French-born horror fiend Alexandre Aja, who directed the initial movie, will be back in the director’s chair. Aja is also producing as well as Craig Flores and horror master Sam Raimi, all of whom produced the original.

Exclusive: In a preemptive situation, Neal Moritz’s Original Film has landed an untitled horror pitch from Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman.

Amanda Lewis will be producing for Original. Pitch was bought through Original’s Paramount discretionary fund.

An insurance investigator tries to debunk claims that a couple’s death was caused by a haunted house, but his doubts are challenged by a psychic and the mysterious occurrences he witnesses with his own eyes.

Producers are Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi for Raimi Productions, and Roy Lee for Vertigo Entertainment and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs exec producing. Raimi has a financing deal with Starlight, which optioned a collection of short stories called Every House is Haunted. The Ian Rogers short story The House on Ashley Avenue is the basis for what this project has become. The project was shopped to the town this week and got a number of bids, with Netflix coming in strongest.

The log line for “Classified” describes the project as a “high octane, cat-and-mouse thriller, in the vein of ‘Die Hard’ meets ‘Indiana Jones,’ set inside a top secret government bunker that contains relics covertly recovered during World War II — that turn out to be more powerful and dangerous than ever imagined.”

Stahelski, who starts his fourth John Wick film imminently, will produce with his 87Eleven Entertainment cohorts Jason Spitz and Alex Young, and Trevor Engelson through his Underground banner. Dean Israelite, the helmer behind the 2017 Power Rangers reboot movie, will direct the sci-fi film, Unexplained Phenomenon.

While the 2017 Power Rangers reboot movie didn’t quite turn out to be a lucrative generations-crossing property tentpole, it did serve as a mainstream coming out party for its director, Dean Israelite. Now, the helmer puts down his proverbial power morpher to move on to a different avenue of the sci-fi genre, attached to the mystery movie, Unexplained Phenomenon.

He will work off a script by Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan, the duo who wrote the (uncharacteristically cinematic,) 2015 found-footage horror franchise sequel Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and, in the same year, teen time travel film Project Almanac, which Israelite directed. Who knew you could get this much mileage out of a ghost named Toby? Nine years ago this week, Oren Peli started production on "Paranormal Activity," which was made for $27, a box of Band-Aids, and three plates of ham sandwiches. Truly independent in every way, the film premiered a year later at ScreamFest, and then… didn't come out for two more years. While "Paranormal Activity" is a remarkable success story, it's also not an instant one. Peli had to struggle to get his film from that first screening to a major theatrical release, and there were plenty of fine-tuning that had to be done to get it there. "Paranormal" has many godfathers, and by the time the film came out in 2009, it had been through many hands. Imagine Back to the Future meets Chronicle seen through the eyes of Michael Bay and you've pretty much landed on the latest offering from the found footage factory, Project Almanac.

Bay produces this movie through his Platinum Dunes production company and, though first-time director Dean Israelite initially has fun with Project Almanac's nifty premise, the film's inevitable descent into 'Bayhem' prevents it from being anything other than fast-forgotten entertainment.

Jonny Weston leads the cast as David, a geeky high-schooler who discovers time machine blueprints left by his late father. With his pals Quinn (Sam Lerner), Allen (Adam Le), sister Christina (Virginia Gardner) and school crush Jessie (Sofia Black-d'Elia), they construct the device and start pinballing across the space-time continuum.

I don't think I could even begin to attempt to explain how the time travel is supposed to work in director Dean Israelite's Project Almanac, but it's not as if it matters. A group of teenagers stumble on blueprints telling them how to make a time machine, they make it, use it to get rich, popular and to party at Lollapalooza. What's not to understand about thatc Of course, when things begin to go wrong, and one of them attempts to fix things on his own, it's no longer fun and games. Yes, the butterfly effects is in full... ahem... effect. Told using the found footage style of filmmaking, Project Almanac is never going to come together logically, but that doesn't stop it from being a harmless little time travel feature that does tend to wear thin and overstay its welcome once things begin to fall apart for the group of five teens.

If so, you’ll have to wait longer than expected, as Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of their new Friday the 13th movie and Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, while also slating Rings, the next installment in The Ring franchise, to hit theaters on one of the vacated dates.

Deadline reports that the new Friday the 13th movie, which last May was rescheduled to come out this November 13th, has now been pushed back to a May 13th, 2016 release.

Casting and plot details for the next installment in the Friday the 13th franchise are still unknown, but David Bruckner (V/H/S, The Signal) is still expected to direct, with Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller and Andrew Form producing.

Paramount has set a November 2015 release date for “The Ring” reboot, titled “Rings,” and has moved back the release dates for “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” and “Friday the 13th.”

“The Ghost Dimension,” the sixth installment of the “Paranormal Activity” horror franchise, will now open on Oct. 23, 2015, pushed from its original March 13, 2015 date.

On the back of a report from Bloody Disgusting, we might now know why Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse Productions decided to shift the fifth instalment in their annual spook franchise from its regular Halloween slot to next spring. According to the horror outlet, the next chapter in the demon series, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, has apparently been granted a 3D release.

Currently in production, The Ghost Dimension has long-time series editor, Gregory Plotkin in the director’s chair and franchise newbies, Project Almanac‘s Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark, penning the script. It’s possible that the unique elements required for the ‘ghost dimension’ were a key factor in the decision to render the pic in 3D. Per Bloody Disgusting, the plan is to shoot the film digitally before converting it to 3D in post-production.

Bloody Disgusting has suggested that the use of 3D will be used to differentiate between dimensions.

Earlier this year, the makers of Paranormal Activity revealed that they have a conclusion planned for the series.

"It was really when we were making the third film that things started to crystallise," Christopher Landon said.

"I had an endgame in mind which I had pitched to the group and they loved it. We've been working toward getting to this finish line.

The Michael Bay-produced time travel film, previously titled Welcome to Yesterday, focuses on a group of teenagers who discover plans to build a time machine leading to a wild temporal adventure.

Johnny Weston, Sofia Black-d'Elia, Amy Landecker and Ginny Gardner are among the cast for the film, which is directed by Dean Israelite and written by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark.

Transformers director Bay is producing the film through his Platinum Dunes company with Bradley Fuller and Andrew Form.

Project Almanac will open in Us cinemas on January 30, 2015 and February 6 in the UK.

Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of the fifth "Paranormal Activity" film yet again. At last report it was slated for release on October 24th, now it has been pushed back an extra five months and will hit cinemas on March 13th 2015.

The film has also scored a new title - "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension". In its new date it will go up against Disney's "Cinderella" and Warners' "Heart of the Sea".

The story follows a new family comprised of a video game designer, his wife, his younger brother and his 6-year-old daughter whose new house is the subject of supernatural evil.

First October 2014, then January 2015, and then sometime in 2016. Paranormal Activity 5's release has been shuffled around quite a bit, and now we're hearing it could be back in play for late this year or, more likely, 2015.

Bloody-Disgusting got the scoop from a source close to the PA5 production that the powers-that-be are suddenly rushing headlong to get the film out as soon as possible. While nothing's been confirmed, Bloody suggests that Paramount might even be hoping to have the sixth film in the series out in theaters by this October.

That doesn't seem likely, but perhaps Paramount will once more give the movie a winter 2015 release. Bloody goes on to report that director Greg Plotkin is a man on a mission. That mission? To get Paranormal Activity 5 in the proverbial can as soon as possible. The movie was scripted by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark, both newcomers to the franchise.
