Season three of Netflix‘s teen romance hit Heartstopper lands on our screens this week.
Charlie (played by Joe Locke) faces something of a mental health crisis as beau Nick (Kit Connor) becomes increasingly concerned. The wider friendship group, including Imogen (Rhea Norwood), Tara (Corinna Brown), Darcy (Kizzy Edgell), Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney), are also facing more relationship and identity crises, showing their own angst over becoming young adults — all while love, sex and university choices land on their plates.
Guest starring as Charlie’s celebrity crush Jack Maddox is Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey, who Norwood describes as “very charming.” “He’s just got this incredible, natural charisma,” the 23-year-old says.
It’s been a busy year for the young British actress, who from June to September led London’s West End performance of Cabaret as Sally Bowles, alongside musical theater pro Layton Williams, at the Playhouse Theatre.

Billie Piper has been on quite a journey. From teenage popstar (and my first crush) through the tabloid obsession with her marriages to Chris Evans and – shudder – Laurence Fox, to her position, now, as one of Britain’s finest actors. I Hate Suzie – created by Piper along with Diary of a Call Girl collaborator, and Succession writer, Lucy Prebble – was a tremendous showcase for Piper’s ability, and it returns now for a short second season: I Hate Suzie Too. Get ready to be traumatised all over again.
Having hit rock bottom by the end of the first season, Suzie is now making a home for herself amid the pebbly detritus of her life as was. Her big comeback opportunity – personally as well as professionally – is a sub-Strictly reality TV show called DanceCrazee. But behind the make-up and glitter, leotards and legwarmers, Suzie is hanging by a thread. “How do you feel?...

One of my greatest accomplishments to date is the fact that aged eleven I was interviewed by Britain’s longest-serving TV breakfast host and queen of morning TV Lorraine Kelly! This was one of the greatest experiences as me and my family were whisked up from our humble home in Cardiff, put on a train (which even then was an extravagant cost) and put into the penthouse suite of the extremely ostentatious Park Plaza Hotel in the heart of central London to talk to Lorraine about the positive effects that Slimming World had had on me. The entire episode was dedicated to debating whether or not young children should be able to join slimming programmes such as Slimming World and I was the ambassador for such groups and the idea of healthy swaps rather than dieting! This was such a surreal experience for my younger self as I was able...

Jack Whitehall has told us that Bad Education will most likely come to an end with the big screen upgrade.
"This is our characters going out on a bang, and if this is where it ends, then I think it's a really good place to leave them," he said.
The Bad Education Movie transports Whitehall's inept teacher Alfie Wickers and his classmates to a crazy trip to Cornwall. What can go wrong?
Talking about the film, Whitehall said: "We've had a lot more money than we had with the series so we threw everything at it. When you're at the BBC there are certain rules you have to apply to, whereas with the film, taste and decency issues can go out the window."
He also spoke about the failed attempt to make a Us version on ABC, and said the film is not expected to be a hit on that side of the Atlantic.

Here's something you don't see everyday: Harry Enfield wearing a pair of prosthetic testicles as earrings.
Not only that, but the testicles happen to belong to Jack Whitehall from the set of The Bad Education Movie.

Jack Whitehall's Bad Education will soon make its way onto the big screen, as Alfie Wickers's class of tearaways go on an epic trip to Cornwall. What could go wrong?
Layton Williams plays the flamboyant Stephen in the BBC comedy, and he will return alongside his madcap friends in the movie version. The actor and dancer told Digital Spy that shooting the film was an emotional experience.
He said: "We were so used to coming together now like once a year, so I think this time it was a little bit like, 'Oh my god, this actually probably could, well, we never know, be like the last time we're all gonna be filming and working together!'
"So it was a bit sad saying goodbye, but we'll go onto other things, and we're definitely friends forever, really."

Jack Whitehall is a badass teacher in the first trailer for The Bad Education Movie.
Alfie Wickers and his tearaway pupils are back for a big-screen version of the hit BBC comedy, which arrives in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on Friday, August 21.
In the trailer, Alfie is itching to take his class for one last trip away together after completing their exams - but soon comes up against opposition from disgruntled parents who don't think he's an appropriate role model.
In response, he resolves to take the students "on a holiday that's so bats**t mental that if it was a movie, everyone would be played by Nicolas Cage", and they soon tear up Cornwall, raising havoc, insulting the locals and upsetting the resident wildlife.

Here's a first look at Jack Whitehall, the writer and star of BBC Three's new comedy Bad Education, surrounded by his pupils played by Charlie Wernham, Layton Williams, Ethan Lawrence, Nikki Runeckles, Kae Alexander, and Jack Binstead.
Jack plays Alfie, the worst teacher ever to grace the British education system and is a bigger kid than the kids he teaches. The teacher your kids would love but parents would hate!
The show also stars Mathew Horne as Fraser, the school’s headmaster, who tragically longs to be as cool as Alfie. He's the teacher who just wants to be everyone's 'best mate' and is prone to massive and very public mishaps. Sarah Solemani plays Miss Gulliver. She is the school biology teacher and the apple of Alfie’s eye. She cares deeply about the school and the students. Michelle Gomez plays Pickwell, the deputy head. She is an ‘old school...

Production begins this week on a new 6-part comedy drama series for BBC Three called Bad Education, written by and starring comedian and Fresh Meat star Jack Whitehall. Jack plays Alfie, the worst teacher ever to grace the British education system.
Co-written with Freddie Syborn, and produced by Tiger Aspect, Bad Education is a comedy about a teacher who’s a bigger kid then the pupils he teaches.
Alfie Wicker was always a loser; the kid that everyone gave up hope in, dropping back year after year at school and at university. But, in the end, he scraped through and got his Pgcse. And now, he’s got his first job as a teacher of a support class. His class is made up of pupils struggling to get through their Gcse’s and it’s his job to give them extra tuition in a selection of key topics. So, in a highly ironic way,...

I confess I had a somewhat lukewarm reaction to the first season of Beautiful People, a UK import that aired last year on Logo and quickly developed a cult following.
I loved the premise: a gay man looks back on his childhood antics as a flamboyant boy trapped in a stifling UK suburb with his even-more-flamboyant best friend. And it was impossible not to be impressed by actors like Olivia Colman, as Simon’s gloriously unbalanced mother, and (especially) Luke Ward-Wilkinson, the appealingly gawky rubber-faced actor who plays Simon.
But I’ve never been a huge fan of the 30 Rock-style of scatter-shot comedy where a show is determined to tell six jokes, even though only two of them are funny. And Beautiful People’s scripts sometimes seemed to me to be a little lazily-written – just set-ups to get to the next outrageous joke.
I’m happy to report that the second season of six episodes,...

Yep, it’s that time of year.
No, not the time to sip daiquiris alongside the pool or go catch some cool waves at the beach. It’s the time of year to watch summer television!
Truthfully, with most of broadcast television in reruns, it’s mostly cable and reality show offerings. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t something of interest to viewers of gay-related programming.
What’s worth watching this summer? The Great Gay is here to help you decide!
Who is the Great Gay is, you ask? Why, as always, I’m the collective wisdom of all who toil here at AfterElton.com, the sum total of years of endless, stupefying television viewing!
Okay, it’s mostly just me blathering on, with the others yelling at me whenever I get something wrong.

Olivia Colman, Layton Williams and Luke Ward-WilkinsonLike last week, we're once again excited to be able to share with you folks the latest episode of Beautiful People, the British comedy currently airing Stateside on Logo (our parent company).
This episode involves young Simon auditioning for a plum role in the school play, and is seriously 25 of the most brilliantly camptastic minutes of television I've seen since Solid Gold went off the air. Do yourself a favor and give it a go.
Enjoy, and let us know what you think!
For more Beautiful People goodies, check out the show's page on LOGOonline.com.

For me, summer is not a season for television. It's a season for kicking back in the yard or the park with fizzy cocktails, eating meals composed entirely of various types of ice cream, and laughing so hard with your friends that your mother/landlord/neighbors yell at you or you lose control of a bodily function.
Enter Logo's (AfterElton.com's parent company) Beautiful People, the first series of the summer to allow you to do all of these things in the comfort of your air-conditioned living room.
Equal parts wistful remembrance and raucous, candy-colored fantasy, Beautiful People is sort of what The Wonder Years would look like were it directed by a relatively well-behaved John Waters. Loosely based on the memoirs of Simon Doonan (first released in the U.K. under the title Nasty), the series tells the story of an impossibly fabulous and...

Here's some great news for us folks Stateside: Logo (our parent company) has secured the rights to broadcast the first two seasons of the British comedy Beautiful People here in the States. The show is based on the memoirs of style icon Simon Doonan (also the husband of American superdesigner Jonathan Adler).
Set in the early '90s, the show tells the story of Simon's coming-of-age as a gay teenager in working-class Britain, and made a big splash with mainstream audiences when it premiered in the fall overseas. We've been dying to get a look at the show (being big fans of both Doonan and of the people behind the sitcom, who also brought us a little show called Absolutely Fabulous) and we're stoked that we'll all get the chance in the near-term.

As told from the perspective of a Doonan...
