For those who went to cinemas on the 15th of September 2015 to see the 3-D showings of the two-part Series 8 finale, Dark Water and Death in Heaven, there was a six and a half minute treat at the end. After being exhorted to remove their 3-D glasses, fans were treated to the much-anticipated Series 9 Prequel, The Doctor’s Meditation.
This short film was directed by Ed Bazalgette and written by Steven Moffat, and it acted as a prequel leading into the first episode of the new series, “The Magician’s Apprentice”. The prequel was shown in Russian, Canadian, Danish and Us cinemas, but nowhere else – including the UK! So, as it turned out, very few Doctor Who fans got to see it!
So, what’s the Prequel like? Well, don’t read any further if you dislike spoilers! But, if you want to know what happens and can’t...

Steven Moffat says "not doing [Sherlock] again would be fine. If that was it, then that would be it"...
This Broadcast interview with Steven Moffat is well worth a read. In it, he discusses leaving Doctor Who, his original plan to exit after Peter Capaldi's second series, the show's scheduling issues last year, new Executive Producer Chris Chibnall, and more.

It's his comments on Sherlock though, that fans are keen to hear amid a feeling that the series four finale may have been a permanent end to the hit BBC show.
"The ratings were extremely good," said Moffat "so I guess they’ll ask us again, and then we’ll have to see first of all if we have three films we want to make, and then if Benedict and Martin have the time, schedule and inclination.

Spoilers Ahead For Last Year's "Doctor Who" Finale
The BBC has announced that Michelle Gomez will reprise her role as Missy/The Master in the upcoming ninth season premiere of "Doctor Who" this Fall on BBC America.
Michelle Gomez says: "Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see The Doctor again!" The BBC has also released an announcement video about the casting:
Show runner Steven Moffat penned the two-part episode "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch’s Familiar" with the double bill set to open the new season. Missy, who was last seen in the eighth season finale, will return in those episodes.
Moffat says: "Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener.
