A native of Los Angeles, Al Coronel has always been surrounded by the entertainment industry but did not pursue his dream of being a performer until later in life. Prior to embarking on his acting career, he became a world-recognized professional dancer in the world of Salsa, traveling extensively to teach and perform at Salsa festivals and events worldwide. He landed his first film role in the feature film, Blow, starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, as a salsa dancer. This experience reignited his childhood dream of becoming an actor.
He has made countless appearances in film and television and states that one of his highlights was starring in the March 2017 hit Marvel movie, Logan, alongside Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook and Stephen Merchant. The Wolverine sequel broke box office records and was only the 2nd rated R movie in the Marvel franchise.
He can also be seen on season 3 of the HBO hit series, Westworld and on Season 3 of TNT's hit drama "The Last Ship," which debuted in June 2016 and which stars Eric Dane of Grey's Anatomy fame.
As an actor, Al Coronel graduated from the The Sanford Meisner two year program and the masters program at The Sanford Meisner Center for the Arts in Los Angeles, California under instructor and Sandy Meisner protege Martin Barter. On stage, Al has gone on to perform in several theater plays like Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing and the musical Cesar & Ruben, written and directed by Ed Begley Jr.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, the bilingual actor resides in his hometown. A military veteran having served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps, he continues to support vets through the Veterans in Film and Television program, participating in many events for its members.
