Oxygen True Crime has revealed details about its upcoming two-hour special Serial Killer Capital: Los Angeles. The documentary examines a series of brutal murders that brought terror to south Los Angeles from the 1980s into the early 2000s. TV Insider’s exclusive clip, below, includes a chilling phone call that had police wondering if this was from the killer himself. Bodies of women were discovered in alleys, playgrounds, and even on the steps of an elementary school. Cops initially believed they were hunting one perpetrator who became known as the “Southside Slayer.” However, further investigation led authorities to believe the murders over three decades were tied to multiple killers. Families of victims will speak for the first time in the documentary along with firsthand survivor accounts and interviews with law enforcement who found justice for many of the murdered women. The film delves into how police noticed a trend...

Kohei Horikoshi is considered to be one of the best new-gen manga artists, as his art style has got the otaku community buzzing with his work. His most renowned work, My Hero Academia, is considered one of the best modern works that has majorly influenced modern pop culture.

With a colorful and unique world that features the good and the bad, the series took no time to become an absolute fan favorite. Everything was going immensely well for the title as it became one of the highest-rated series, rivaling the likes of Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and many more.
The series was believed to be the next big thing, and only a perfect ending stopped it from being so. However, a sub-par ending ruined the work. Interestingly enough, the ending turned out to be great for the author, as...

Slayer are reigning once again, as the thrash legends played their first concert in five years on Sunday night (September 22nd) at Riot Fest in Chicago.
The headlining performance at Douglass Park featured a career-spanning, 20-song set that didn’t stray too far from Slayer’s setlists on their farewell tour in 2019.

After kicking off with the ominous “South of Heaven,” the band immediately delved into Reign in Blood with a rendition of deep cut “Reborn” — the first performance of the song since 2014. From there, each era of Slayer was represented, highlighted by staples such as “Repentless,” “Seasons in the Abyss,” “Hell Awaits,” and “213” (for the first time since 1998).
A final four-song volley ended the set climatically: “Mandatory Suicide” into “Raining Blood,” “Black Magic,” and a finale of “Angel of Death.”

In recent times, Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover has gained unparalleled popularity that has surpassed other new-gen titles in terms of popularity. The title is arguably the best underrated Shonen series that has slowly gained mainstream popularity and now has one of the largest fanbases, rivaling the likes of Demon Slayer, Bleach, and Jujutsu Kaisen.

As a result, the manga received an anime adaptation, which multiplied its popularity, making it one of the most popular anime of the year 2020. Tabata-Sensei’s project holds the potential to cement its legacy and become one of the faces of the industry.

This year’s Riot Fest is just around the corner, taking place September 20th-22nd at Chicago’s Douglass Park. Consequence is giving away two VIP passes to the three-day extravaganza, which boasts headlining performances from a reunited Slayer, Beck, Fall Out Boy, and Pavement, along with sets from dozens of other notable acts.
After initially announcing a move to Bridgeview, Illinois, for this year, Riot Fest recently revealed a last-minute switch back to the familiar Douglass Park in downtown Chicago, where the multi-genre fest has taken place for the past several years.
Slayer will be performing their first show since they ended their farewell tour in November 2019, after an unexpected reunion announcement earlier this year. The legendary thrash metal band’s set will be one of only three scheduled performances this year.

In the Demon Slayer universe, there is only one who stands higher than all the other demons, and that is Kibutsuji Muzan, also referred to as the Demon King. His powers and insight are so extraordinary that nothing can hide even the tiniest of secrets from him, since he had total control over all the demonic abilities. And even the bravest of demons shake at the very thought of crossing this man.

Masashi Kishimoto has set a benchmark in the anime-manga industry with the success of Naruto. Matching the success of Naruto is not an easy feat, and it might not even be the goal. But after Naruto ended, fans were expecting him to release something that was either related to Naruto or something that matches it’s glory. Boruto was the former and has become fairly successful. Whereas Kishimoto’s other manga, Samurai 8, was neither of those things.
Published for the first time in 2019, Samurai 8 had a lackluster year-long run. It’s performance was far worse than the general perception regarding Boruto. Here are 3 reasons that made Samurai 8 a complete disaster.

Chicago’s Riot Fest is reversing course, choosing to move back to its long-time home at Douglass Park just months after announcing plans to relocate to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, and only weeks before this year’s festivities are set to get underway.

As one of the most revered thrash metal axemen of all time, Slayer’s Kerry King is a guitarist first and foremost. But he can sing, too.
Aside from the occasional backing vocals, King sticks to the guitar — especially in Slayer. However, like many songwriters, he demos material with his own scratch vocals to lay down his ideas.

In the case of his solo debut, From Hell I Rise, those scratch demos were then handed over to Death Angel’s Mark Osegueda, who performed vocals on the final recordings and assumed the role of frontman in King’s solo band.
In a new interview with The Sdr Show, King was asked about those demos and what his singing voice sounds like.
“I just sound like an angry white punk kid… I think it sounds kind of adolescent,” King admitted [as transcribed by Blabbermouth], adding that most of the demos were first takes.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" climaxes with the Marvelous heroes fighting the titular tin man and his army of duplicates in fictional European nation Sokovia. Ultron has built a giant engine beneath a Sokovian city to lift it off the ground, intending to slam it back onto the Earth and cause a mass extinction event. "When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world will be metal."
This scheme is not inspired by a Marvel comic, but rather another film about a robot army and floating city: Hayao Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky," the first film made by Studio Ghibli. (Though "Nausicaä Of The Valley Of The Wind" brought Ghibli's soon-to-be founders together.) "Castle In The Sky," set in a Wales-like fantasy world, follows orphans Pazu and Sheeta as they search for Laputa, a long-lost advanced civilization.
Laputa is like Atlantis if it soared above the clouds instead of collapsing beneath the waves.

We’re pretty sure that Kerry King isn’t hurting for cash these days, but the Slayer guitarist admits his bank account would have a lot more money it if he had set up a different financial arrangement for his contributions to the classic Beastie Boys track “No Sleep Till Brooklyn.”
King famously played the iconic guitar riff on the Licensed to Ill track, but apparently took a singular payment for his contributions rather than a percentage of the royalties. Of course, Licensed to Ill went on to become one of the biggest rap albums of all time, selling over 10 million copies in the US alone and earning Diamond certification.

“And yet, I am still alive”
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has taken its audience on a fascinating journey across its four seasons. Like any good adventure, there are natural highs and lows as a story takes risks, not all of which always pay off.
Demon Slayer’s Hashira Training Arc season has been the most inconsequential and shortest of the series’ seasons. A different adaptation approach may have helped this material shine better and feel more important. That’s not to say that this season hasn’t been enjoyable and this extensive focus on training wouldn’t feel nearly as manipulative if the season were twice as long. This season, while far from filler, almost comes across as a playful way to bide time until Demon Slayer’s final battle.

“No matter what anyone says, I will acknowledge you, Tanjiro Kamado.”
The final episodes of Demon Slayer’s Hashira Training Arc season have been incredibly interested in Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira and the Demon Slayer Corps.’ strongest warrior. After an entire episode of Tanjiro essentially being ignored by this sage swordsman, “Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima” quickly demonstrates just how proud Himejima is of Tanjiro. This pride is in regard to Tanjiro’s completion of his rigorous boulder training, but also his courageous performance in the Swordsmith Village. When Glen Powell was initially offered the role of Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick, the actor wasn’t initially keen on playing the character. Fortunately, the Anyone but You star was eventually onboard with the role, which led to the actor’s ascend in Hollywood, who is currently one of the biggest bankable young stars on the planet.

This Demon Slayer review contains spoilers.
“It’s time to wake up that sluggish body of yours!”
Training arcs are commonplace in battle shonen anime and any series that’s repeatedly turned to this trope runs into the issue of how to make a new training arc feel fun and narratively compelling when it’s been done so many times before. This is an issue that’s endemic of the shonen genre as a whole, not just Demon Slayer, but it becomes a larger problem when the entire season has “Training Arc” in its title and is built upon this storytelling device.
Demon Slayer has been dense in training arcs, and while they’re usually entertaining, there’s a struggle to top past heights without hitting diminishing returns that diminish the events. It’s a risky gambit that potentially feels superfluous to the larger battle that it’s setting up.

The second episode of Demon Slayer season 4, which was released on May 19, 2024, has finally revealed the reason behind Giyu Tomioka’s loneliness and sadness. Not only that, it gave a glimpse into the past of the Water Hashira and his struggles. The episode also explored the link between Giyu and Sabito, who was actually his childhood friend.
Sabito – Demon Slayer | Ufotable
Sabito was first introduced in the story when Tanjiro was training for the final selection exam of the Demon Slayer Corps. His spirit form helped Tanjiro slice the giant boulder in half by guiding him and explaining to him the basics of sword skills. In a way, he was indirectly responsible for Tanjiro being able to pass the final selection exam.

Over the past week or so, Apple Music has slowly unveiled the titles included in its list of the “100 best albums.” Today, the top 10 albums were revealed, with Miss Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill claiming the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top five are Michael Jackson’s Thriller; The Beatles’ Abbey Road; Prince’s Purple Rain; and Frank Ocean’s Blonde.
The top 10 also includes Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life; Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version); Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black; Nirvana’s Nevermind; and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
In all honestly, it’s a pretty safe top 10, especially considering the drama that unfolded when Apple unveiled picks 11-20 and slotted Adele’s 21 at No. 15 and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at No. 18 — ahead of albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds,...

“Bridgerton” Season 3 is off to a steamy hot start.
The third season of the Shondaland period drama drew 45.1 million views over its first four days of availability, according to Netflix, easily finishing first on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list. Take that, Tom Brady roast.
It was the biggest week — by quite a bit — for any series on Netflix since the streamer changed its core metric from hours viewed to views in mid-June 2023.
The first four “Bridgerton” Season 3 episodes reached number 1 in 78 countries and the Top 10 in 92, Netflix said. The next four episodes premiere on June 13; try not to obsess over the big cliffhanger between now and then.
The third season of “Bridgerton” also brought the first two back to (some semblance of) their former glory. “Bridgerton” Seasons 1 and 2 both returned to Netflix’s Top 10 TV (in any language) list in the week ahead of Season 3. They did even better during Season 3’s premiere week.

Ufotable’s Demon Slayer may have a lot of defining moments that make the anime series one of the best of all time, but a major part of the credit for the success of the series should ideally go to the voice actors of Demon Slayer, who managed to capture the emotions of intense characters like Tanjiro, Nezuko, Rengoku, Zenitsu, etc.
Nezuko and Tanjiro in Demon Slayer | Ufotable
Voicing such prominent characters can be difficult as they often end up in dire situations, and the entire focus is on them. Therefore, even a small mistake can affect the character and the voice actor’s image. Be it Japanese dubbing or any other language, the stress on the voice is similar for every voice artist who is working on the series.

The first solo album from former Slayer guitarist Kerry King is basically the “Still D.R.E.” of thrash metal.
But where Dr. Dre wanted to remind his fans that he was still puffin’ his leafs, still fucking with beats, and still not lovin’ police after close to a decade’s absence, King wants his fans to understand that even though Slayer are essentially hellbound, he’s still Satan’s preeminent ambassador with furious, jagged riffs and sweet nothings like “Crucifixation” and “Everything I Hate About You.” On From Hell I Rise,...

When Slayer announced that they were unexpectedly reuniting to play music festivals this fall, the timing appeared to upstage guitarist Kerry King‘s then-just-announced debut solo album, From Hell I Rise.
In a new interview on Sirius Xm’s Trunk Nation, King was asked about whether the Slayer reunion had a positive or negative impact on promo for his solo album and subsequent tour. He was quick to clarify that the upcoming Slayer dates are one-offs, and the reunion won’t extend beyond the occasional live appearance.
“I see it both ways,” said King [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]. “We’ve [Slayer] been turning down offers for the last four years. Unfortunately, when the right offer came around, this one, it was right as my project was releasing. So there’s certainly people, like my management and booking agents, who say, ‘Oh, that’s great. In 2021, Bleach celebrated its 20th anniversary with a new art exhibition giving details about the series, its history, its progress over the years, and the overall success of Tite Kubo’s magnum opus. The art exhibition was opened on December 18, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan, and it was probably the biggest celebration of the Bleach franchise.

To honor the legacy of Kubo and his masterpiece, other prominent manga creators from the industry also came together and shared their own artwork featuring the characters and events from the Bleach manga series. This was their way of congratulating Kubo on completing 20 years and still going strong with the latest adaptation of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
While all the artworks from the manga creators had a lot of importance, the illustrations from Eiichiro Oda (One Piece) and Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto) held the most value, as all of them make up the “Big Three” of the anime industry,...

Slayer stunned fans earlier this year when they announced they’d be reuniting for three festival gigs this fall. Among those who were surprised was Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, who says he messaged Slayer axeman Kerry King and told him, “Thanks for making me look like a liar.”
The timing of Slayer’s announcement was especially surprising considering that King had just unveiled details of his eponymous solo band, including a debut album, From Hell I Rise, set to arrive May 17th, and a summer tour supporting Mastodon and Lamb of God. Slayer’s reunion gigs will follow in the fall at Riot Fest, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock.

What began as a short-lived novel series by Jaki in 2019 quickly became a popular ongoing fantasy light novel series that debuted in 2020. Still written by Jaki and illustrated by fame, The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan is a popular fantasy series that will finally receive its anime version later this year, as has been officially confirmed. The light novel series currently consists of four volumes, which is not much, but it will give the producers enough material to produce a proper anime season that will, as per the official information, be released in October 2024.
It is not that often that so much information is revealed at the time of an anime’s confirmation, but this is certainly a major scoop and we are happy to report that the anime is coming later this year and that we have several important information for you at this stage.

Developer The Astronauts have announced a new Early Access update for their dark fantasy shooter Witchfire in the Ghost Galleon Update. In addition to quality-of-life features, the update introduces “soul-style classes”, vault raids, weapons, and new Calamities.
Alongside the new features in the update, The Astronauts team has implemented careful redesigns of Witchfire‘s level progression and Calamity systems, based on Early Access feedback. Players will begin the game with souls-style classes, granting boosts to certain stats and unique gear. Those classes include Slayer, Berserker, Hunter, Shadow, Saint and Penitent, with Penitent giving Witchfire veterans an extra challenge.
A new feature, called Gnosis, will allow players to “over-level” (slightly) without a corresponding uptick in enemy difficulty. Gnosis is the understanding of dark magic. After five years, Slayer will return to the stage for headlining sets at Riot Fest and Louder Than Life in September 2024.
The announcement on Wednesday (February 21st) comes as a massive surprise, with the thrash legends set to play Riot Fest in Chicago on September 22nd and Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 27th.
“Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we’re on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans,” said frontman Tom Araya via a press release, “and to be honest, we have missed that.”
Added guitarist Kerry King: “Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. Slayer means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them.”

No one can play Buffy Summers, the girl chosen by fate to be a vampire Slayer, better than Sarah Michelle Gellar. She's not the only one who's tried though.
For starters, Gellar is actually the sophomore Slayer — Buffy was first played by Kristy Swanson in the original "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" movie from 1992 (that's been soundly displaced by the TV series in pop culture). For the TV series, Charisma Carpenter originally auditioned for Buffy, but ultimately played Queen Bee Cordelia Chase instead, the part that Gellar turned down. The whole point of Cordelia is that she's what Buffy was before she became the Slayer (an acerbic popular girl), so casting Gellar and Carpenter made sense. In another world, they could pull off each others' parts.
Carpenter wasn't the only runner-up to play Miss Summers. Back in 2001, when "Buffy" was still ongoing and sensation, Natasha Lyonne appeared on "The Howard Stern Show...

Kerry King just unveiled full details of his eponymous solo project, including the band lineup, the debut album, and the first single. At the same time, the guitarist also gave a brutally honest interview to Rolling Stone, declaring that fellow Slayer founder Dave Lombardo “is dead to me.”
When asked if he’s spoken with the drummer since Slayer fired him in 2013, King bluntly stated, “No. Lombardo is dead to me.” He went on to bring up the financial squabble that led to Lombardo’s sacking from the legendary thrash band.
“He went on that tirade when we were on a flight to Australia, and he knew we couldn’t retort for 14 hours, and he threw me under the bus,” said King. “I was the only one keeping him in the band. Tom [Araya] wanted him out before that, and [the late] Jeff [Hanneman] had just gotten the spider bite, so he wasn’t playing with us much.

Kerry King has announced his debut solo album, From Hell I Rise, arriving May 17th, along with the lead single “Idle Hands.” The guitarist has also unveiled the members of his post-Slayer band.
The official announcement comes years after King symbolically left his iconic chain onstage at the end of Slayer’s final concert in 2019 at The Forum in Los Angeles. At the time, King was quick to inform fans that he would be forming a new solo band to carry on the sound and ethos of Slayer — whose retirement King felt was “premature”.
“I knew early on that I wasn’t done,” remarked King in the press release for the album, “and I had no intention of not continuing to play.”
