A return to the big screen by Hong Kong screenwriter and director Lo Chi Leung since directed probably his best films “The Vanished Murderer” (2015) and “The Bullet Vanishes” (2012) starring Lau Ching Wan. Before that, he also directed Leslie Cheung in “Inner Senses” (2002) and “Double Tap” (2000). Unfortunately, “Come Back Home” (2022), a search-and-rescue drama funded by Mainland China and starring Donnie Yen, was a big flop at the box office. Otherwise it would have been a nice return for Lo and Yen in a purely dramatic non-action role.

Get ready to go back to the Continent...in 2025! Netflix has just unveiled a bunch of new information for its next spinoff of The Witcher, including its release date: February 11, 2025. The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is an animated film which takes place in the earlier days of Geralt of Rivia's monster-hunting career. This time around, he'll be facing off with something brand new for the television franchise: merpeople.
Originally, Sirens of the Deep was announced with a release date of 2024. The move to early 2025 isn't wholly surprising, since Netflix has remained relatively quiet about the movie throughout the year. But not anymore!
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is exciting for a few reasons. The first is that it features the return of Doug Cockle, who voiced Geralt in the beloved video Witcher game series from CD Projekt Red. Henry Cavill may have become synonymous with The Witcher for...

“Dragons are as valuable as they are rare. It's said their meat tastes exquisite, their blood can heal any wound, and their hearts grant immortality when consumed. A tiger is lucky enough to capture one, but as she's about to devour the beast, she pauses—he's much too young to make into a meal. The tiger decides to raise the dragon herself, and it turns out there's more to him than meets the eye. Is it simply natural instincts that draw the predator and her prey to each other, or is it something greater…?” (Yen Press)

The titular term refers to the strong winds that visit the coastal city and county of Hsinchu between September and November. Tom Lin, in his multi-awarded, semi-autobiographical debut, focuses on the period, both literally and metaphorically, while presenting a coming-of-age story that takes place in 1996, during the time of a tragic baseball game-fixing scandal in Taiwan. The movie was produced by Eric Tsang, who also has a small role in it.

With a film based on one cult TV series on the way, it appears that David Leitch is not done digging into nostalgia for movies. He and his 87North production partners are now developing a film based on 1970s series Kung Fu, with Donnie Yen lined up to star.
Stephen Chin has written the script for the new film, which will put a new spin on the show. Created by Ed Spielman, the original series ran between 1972 and 1975 on ABC and starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, a master martial artist who fled China after his master was murdered.
He wandered the Old West helping the downtrodden and weathering rampant racism while eluding assassins trying to kill him. He was a peaceful man until provoked, which happened at least once an episode.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick has wrapped up its three-episode run, but a number of questions were left unanswered, which has fans wondering whether season 2 might be in the works. I haven’t had a chance to watch the series for myself yet, so to be safe, I’ll just say watch out for Spoilers.
Related The Continental producers didn’t know if John Wick spinoff would work without Keanu Reeves
While speaking with GamesRadar, The Continental director and executive producer Albert Hughes said that while he “hasn’t heard anything” about a potential season 2, he has been “daydreaming” about the next stage of the story. “I would like to see if [Winston] becomes what he hated,” Hughes explained. “Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The red bird landing on the ledge with Cormac in episode 1, to then appearing in the penthouse with Winston during the finale, that’s...

As the first season of Peacock’s John Wick universe spin-off series The Continental comes to an end with the third and final episode Theatre of Pain, viewers can’t help but feel discontent as to how hastily the finale wrapped up the narrative. Previously, viewers learned how Winston’s elder brother, the ‘Nam war vet Frankie Scott, undertook the dangerous mission of stealing the High Table coin press from New York Continental in order to earn a life of freedom with his wife, Yen, inciting the ire of his mob boss and Continental manager Cormac O’Conner in the process. Winston got tangled up in that mess as well, and he had to witness his brother sacrifice his life to save him and Yen. A vengeful Winston decided to take revenge and put an end to the sordid history the Scott brothers shared with Cormac, and in order to do so,...

The biggest concern about The Continental after watching the series premiere was not the quality of the product.
In The Continental Season 1 Episode 1 review, we mentioned that the show created a certain hunger that it might not be able to satisfy in three episodes, given that it was a limited series.
A lot of what it did in most episodes was painting broadly through characters and plot points, and while that might have been enough to keep the story going for that episode, it might not have been enough for the bigger picture, which is the show.
The Continental: From the World of John Wick Season 1 Episode 3 concluded Winston's origin story as far as his relationship with The Continental was concerned. With regard to that point, you could not have asked for better execution.
Finally, the narrative shifted to inside the establishment, which the show is named after, something...

Fresh off this year’s John Wick: Chapter 4 comes the spinoff prequel television series The Continental: From the World of John Wick, developed for television by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons. Running for three feature-length episodes on Peacock, the series follows the adventures of Winston Scott (Colin Woodell), the future head of the eponymous New York hotel that serves as a safe haven to a shadowy order of global assassins. Set decades before the John Wick films, Winston finds himself on his vendetta as he is drawn deeper into the lethal world of assassins, taking on the Continental’s ‘70s proprietor Cormac O’Connor (Mel Gibson).
Filled with explosive gunfights and a quiet expansion of the John Wick shared cinematic universe, The Continental depicts a rise to power for Winston while proving him every inch as deadly as John Wick himself.

Loyalty and the lack of it turn out to be major game changers in the treacherous depths of the underworld, and the second episode of Peacock’s John Wick universe crime drama The Continental makes sure to convey that. After the pilot episode of the series established the central plotline in a rather jam-packed manner and ended on a tragic note, the following-up focuses primarily on setting plans for the climactic clash between two parties.
In the previous episode, set in 1970s New York, Winston’s elder brother, Vietnam War veteran Francis Scott, stole the High Table coin press from the notorious criminal refuge, the Continental, much to the dismay of the hotel’s manager and his mob boss employer, Cormac O’Conner. As Frankie went into hiding, Winston got dragged into the scene by the psychotic Cormac. As he eventually finds out about Frankie, it is revealed that the reason...

This post contains spoilers for "The Witcher" book series.
Ciri is nowhere to be found. At least, that what the princess' parent figures Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) thought when fans of "The Witcher" last saw them recovering from the battle of Tor Lara. Season 3 of the popular Netflix series ends with the pair poised to head in different directions on a mission to save Ciri. Sorceress Yen takes on the task of rebuilding Aretuza after her mentor's death, while Geralt (soon to be recast with Liam Hemsworth taking over for Cavill) plans to track down The White Flame (Bart Edwards), Aka Ciri's long lost father.
That's all well and good, but it turns out Ciri (Freya Allan) actually ended up somewhere unexpected. After portalling to the desert and lizard-bashing her way out of there with the help of some creepy ghosts (or hallucinations), she ended up kidnapped by bounty hunters.

Some of the best scenes in "The Witcher" season 3 fast-track the show's central relationships. After two seasons spent splitting up and reuniting, Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), Geralt of Rivera (Henry Cavill), and the powerful sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) were finally in one place -- and surprisingly happy. There was still some bad blood about that whole 'Yen almost sacrificed Ciri to a Baba Yaga-esque demon' thing, sure, but "The Witcher" pretty swiftly moved past it. The season premiere features a surprisingly endearing montage of the group evading detection together, all while Yen trains Ciri to be the hero she's meant to become.
These scenes worked well thanks to the cohesion of the core cast, who all have a familial chemistry that makes even a sped-up bonding experience look sweet and believable. According to Chalotra, though, it took some coordination between the actors to get the bond between Ciri...
