Josh Hartnett has always wanted to do what was least expected of him. What might be expected of a broad-chested, six-foot-three-inch football player turned actor with a strong jaw and deep-set brown eyes? Roles like himbo prom king. Daring pilot. Brave soldier. Which, sure, he has played. (See: The Virgin Suicides. Pearl Harbor. Black Hawk Down.) But especially since breaking out in a few of those roles at the turn of the millennium, he’s done everything he can to subvert the teen-idol persona, pursuing slightly offbeat characters who exist,...

There’s a strong contingency of the internet that preaches the gospel of M. Night Shyamalan. The director has one of the strangest career arcs of all time. Even today, you’ll hear that he’s a Wunderkind, washed up, or a secret genius. Trap, his latest film, seeks to contribute to his upward trajectory in recent years. Sadly, despite wanting to love Trap, its inconsistencies and atrocious storytelling sink the ship in the final half-hour.

When Cooper (Josh Hartnett) takes his daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to a concert, he assumes they’ll have a good time. However, once he arrives, it’s revealed that the show for Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan) was added to help catch a serial killer known as The Butcher.

Nearly three weeks ago, Kid Cudi broke his foot three when he jumped off the stage during his Coachella set, resulting in an injury that left him no choice but to cancel his forthcoming tour. The rapper has since shared a health update with his fans, proving that he really wasn’t being dramatic — the images he shared of his recent x-rays show that nearly a dozen screws were been placed in his foot during surgery.

Music and movies will take turns being Kid Cudi’s main creative priority. The musician announced on Friday that his next studio album is nearly complete, but he isn’t looking to release it until 2026. His latest release, the long-delayed Insano, arrived last month, which makes 2025 a movie year in his alternating schedule.
“My next album is already about 80% done, and it’ll be out in 2026. As always, we’re takin it someplace new,” Cudi wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Just wanted to let yall know, expect an album from...

Hours after the release of Kid Cudi’s ninth solo album, Insano, a curious sight appeared on a barge in New York’s Hudson River. It was a massive statue of Cudi, its eyes flaming red and fluorescent light shooting out of its mouth. A similar barge floated off the coast of Long Beach, while a third Cudi statue stood in the middle of Paris’ Place de la Bourse. “Satanic Kid Cudi slammed for unveiling massive statues of himself,” read a hilarious Page Six headline compiling social-media reactions to the stunt.

Since then, he’s focused on the Chinese market, making the wildly successful two-part Red Cliff and the less successful romantic epic The Crossing. He also dipped his toe back into the heroic bloodshed genre he made famous with 2017’s Manhunt, which, despite some virtuoso action, played more like one of his big-budget American movies than his old-school Hong Kong ones.

Kid Cudi has teamed up with Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams for his new song, “At the Party,” off his upcoming album, Insano.
Along with delivering the song’s hook, Pharrell produced “At the Party,” mixing speaker-rattling kick drums, bass thumps, and an array of heady synths that flit between psychedelic and sinister. Kid Cudi matches that mood on his verse, especially with lines like, “I don’t give a fuck what they saying/Cleveland city roots, anybody else got loose/When I get it in, tripped on shrooms/And...

Well, the Nsync reunion at the VMAs on Tuesday wasn’t just a one-time thing — turns the group have recorded their first new song since effectively saying bye bye bye to each other back in 2002 — and you’ll be able to see it in “Trolls Band Together” later this fall.

Don’t worry, they’re not actually gonna make you wait that long. The group — Justin Timberlake, Jc Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass — will be releasing “Better Place” as a single on Sept. 29. Kid Cudi grew up watching Star Trek every night with his dad. He’s talked about how important the series and the paternal bond were to him many times over the years. On this day in 1966, Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek: The Original Series launched on NBC.
Some 57 years later, the stars and crew of the latest iterations of Roddenberry’s universe came out to remind the studios and fans why they’re striking.
There were pickets in both LA and New York. On the west coast, stars including Michelle Hurd,
LeVar Burton and George Takei turned up outside Paramount, which controls the franchise, while in New York the likes of Melissa Navia, who stars in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, was one of many in Manhattan.
The writers and actors said that they were to pay homage to Roddenberry’s vision of a future, a future where everyone is treated with respect and corporate greed is a thing of the past. “Sadly, though, the studios and the AMPTP are failing to live up to Gene’s vision,” the WGA said.

In a statement shared on social media, the rapper announced that he would be pushing the record back, although no official release date had been shared prior. As the schedules begin to drop for this summer’s music festivals, Rolling Loud recently announced its headliners. One of the nation’s biggest hip-hop fests, the three-day extravaganza draws big-name rappers. This year, the event will feature headliners Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, and Playboi Carti and special guests Kodak Black, 21 Savage, and Lil Uzi Vert, among dozens of other artists. But when Kid Cudi performed last year, he cut his set short after concertgoers kept throwing objects at him. So it’s no surprise his name doesn’t appear in this year’s lineup.

A formula as old as the movies itself, the House Party concept is essentially a blank slate revolving around the climatic, titular event where the stakes of friendship, relationships, and or business interests hang in the balance. Entering 2023’s House Party with the “Og” Kid ‘n Play trilogy fresh on my mind, the film follows a familiar path, revolving not around high school or college kids but, like House Party 3, guys in a kind of arrested development in their mid-20s. Kid Cudi has claimed that “toxic fans” are one of the reasons he doesn’t want to make music for much longer.
The US artist’s statement was made on Wednesday (9 November), when Cudi removed his music from Soundcloud after a fan had said they preferred the original version.

Cudi then replied to the fan asking if they knew he had released the song officially on his compilation album The Boy Who Flew to the Moon, Vol. 1.

Dot Da Genius spent many years in the early 2000s grinding it out in New York City, living with and producing music for his close friend Scott Mescudi, better known as his hip-hop alias Kid Cudi. He was behind the boards on “Day ‘n’ Nite,” which launched Cudi into the mainstream in 2008 with his debut mixtape “A Kid Named Cudi.”
Dot and the 38-year-old rapper have since maintained a long creative partnership, still trusting one another to this day to explore new artistic mediums together. Kanye West took another jab at Kid Cudi and Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted in an Instagram post shared Thursday (1 September).
The “Flashing Lights” rapper – who legally changed his name to Ye last year – has been engaged in separate feuds with both Cudi and Rørsted for some time.
The 45-year-old rapper shared a photo of a fake New York Times front page with the headline story reading: “Kasper Rørsted also dead at 60”.
Below, in fine print, reads the question: “I know what you’re thinking... who is Kasper? but even less importantly who is Kid Cudi?”
The Independent has contacted representatives for Rørsted for comment.
In early August, West accused Adidas of inventing Yeezy Day sneakers without his permission. He also claimed the brand of re-issuing older Adidas Yeezy styles.
Adidas has not publicly responded to West’s accusations.
Meanwhile, Cudi recently criticised West’s reaction to ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s breakup with Pete Davidson.

Meanwhile, Cudi recently criticised West’s reaction to ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s breakup with Pete Davidson.

Kanye West took another jab at Kid Cudi and Adidas CEO Kasper Rørstad in an Instagram post shared Thursday (1 September).
The “Flashing Lights” rapper – who legally changed his name to Ye last year – has been engaged in separate feuds with both Cudi and Rørstad for some time.
The 45-year-old rapper shared a photo of a fake New York Times front page Thursday, with the headline story reading: “Kasper Rørstad also dead at 60”.
Below, in fine print, reads the question: “I know what you’re thinking... who is Kasper? but even less importantly who is Kid Cudi?”
The Independent has contacted representatives for Rørstad for comment.

Kanye West will not be charged for allegedly punching a fan during a heated argument.
The rapper reportedly got into a dispute with a fan that turned physical outside Soho Warehouse, a Los Angeles hotel and members bar, in January of this year.
Authorities initially investigated the case as a misdemeanour battery, which can carry a six-month jail sentence maximum.
However, on Tuesday (23 August) the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office shared a statement with TMZ saying: “After a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction.”
In a video obtained by the outlet close to the time of the alleged assault, West can be heard shouting: “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?... Cos that’s what happened right f***ing now.”
The outlet originally reported that West pushed and punched the fan.

American rapper Kid Cudi, who was once Kanye West’s friend and collaborator, has railed against West as he has spoken about Kanye’s erratic behaviour.
The two had a public falling out in February after Kanye removed Cudi’s contributions from his ‘Donda 2’ album because Cudi is friendly with ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Pete Davidson, who was in a relationship with Kim Kardashian after she ended her marriage to West, reports Variety.
Cudi’s statement came in a new profile published by Esquire magazine: “I’ve been on every one of that man’s albums. He’s only been on two of mine. That should tell you something,” Cudi told Esquire about West. “And don’t think I didn’t ask.”
According to Variety, after West removed Cudi from ‘Donda 2’, he proceeded to post several anti-Cudi images to his Instagram page.

Kid Cudi has revealed that he suffered a stroke while in rehab back in 2016.
The 38-year-old rapper checked into rehab six years ago due to anxiety and depression, describing himself as “a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions every day of my life”.
In a Facebook post at the time, the Ohio-born rapper said that he has checked himself into rehab “for depression and suicidal urges”.
In a new interview with Esquire, Cudi recalled his past, saying: “Everything was f***ed.”
The rapper also revealed that his speech and movement were slow after the stroke, and his manager Cummings suggested that he needed a break from music.
After that incident, Cudi spent a few months in physical rehab and didn’t fully feel back on his feet until he read with Michael Cera for a role in a Broadway play about law enforcement, Lobby Hero.
Apparently, the audition...

Kid Cudi opens up about his public falling out with Kanye West in a new interview with Esquire.
West previously announced Cudi wouldn’t be appearing on Donda 2 for being pals with Pete Davidson, who up until recently was dating West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Cudi, who signed to West’s label, G.O.O.D. Music, in 2008, says of the pair’s feud: “I’m at a place in my life where I have zero tolerance for the wrong energies. I’ve watched so many people throughout the years that are close to him be burned by him doing some f**ked-up s**t. And then they turn around and forgive him. And there’s no repercussions. You’re back cool with this man. He does it over and over.”

Kid Cudi is opening up about a health scare that occurred during one of the hardest times in his life. The "Day 'n' Nite" rapper, 38, recently revealed he suffered a stroke shortly after being admitted to rehab in 2016. In an interview with Esquire published Aug. 17, Cudi noted that the stroke impacted his movement and speech and required him to take physical therapy for months, telling the outlet, "Everything was f--ked." It wasn't until 2017 when the "Pursuit of Happiness" rapper auditioned for a role in the Broadway play Lobby Hero, with Michael Cera, that he felt he had improved. Though Cudi didn't land the role, he was able to...

Suffice it to say, Kid Cudi is not interested in squashing his beef with Kanye West. Speaking to Esquire for the magazine's September 2022 issue, Cudi said, "It's gonna take a motherf--king miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don't see it happening. He gon' have to become a monk." The rappers' feud reignited earlier this year after Ye took to Instagram to air his grievances with Pete Davidson, and with the fellow rapper for being friends with him. At the time, the then-Saturday Night Live star was dating Kanye's ex Kim Kardashian. The two recently broke up after nine months. "I'm not one of your kids. I'm not...

Kid Cudi headlined Rolling Loud Miami on July 22 but ended his performance after only 30 minutes after members of the audience continued to throw objects at him even after he threatened to walk off. Cudi had joined the festival lineup as a replacement for Kanye West, who dropped out of the lineup less than a week before he was set to perform. West did end up making an appearance, however, joining Lil Durk on stage at around the same time Cudi left the stage and performing a version of "Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1," a song off "The Life of Pablo" that features Cudi on the chorus.
As reported by Variety, Cudi was performing his fourth song, "Revofev," when members of the crowd began throwing what appeared to be bottles at him. The rapper told the crowd he would leave if any more objects were thrown. "Yo, I will walk off...

Kid Cudi is heading to the moon on his upcoming tour, kind of. The rapper’s newly announced To the Moon world tour unfortunately shares a name with an idiotic and unrelated crypto-bro phrase, so let’s just imagine that he’s getting a moon landing of his own.
Scheduled for 27 cities across North America, Asia, and Europe, the tour will begin on Aug. 16 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. Cudi will travel through Portland, Oakland, Denver, Miami, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Toronto, Chicago, and more cities. Tickets for the To the Moon tour go on sale Friday,...
