Alex is a conservation biologist, wildlife cameraman, and writer working on big cat conservation issues globally. As a National Geographic Explorer, he has traveled extensively and has over 15 years of experience working on species as rare as jaguars in the Peruvian Amazon, leopards in East and southern Africa, India, and Sri Lanka, African lions in Uganda, and even caracal in the remote mountains of the southern Cape. His deliverables are diverse, and range from three National Geographic documentaries (and three magazine stories as a photo assistant), 30 published scientific papers with the Universities of Oxford, Queensland, and SUSTech, and over half a million dollars in fund raising for lion and leopard conservation in East Africa, and Sri-Lanka in the last five years alone. His current scientific and film work in Uganda focuses on drivers of carnivore decline, evidence-based monitoring, and financial mechanisms for human-carnivore co-existence. You can see his recent documentaries "Tree Climbing Lions" and "Tree Climbing Lions: Return to Uganda" on National Geographic WILD and the streaming service Disney Plus.
