Richard E. Yawn
- Sound Department
- Additional Crew
Richard Yawn is an Emmy nominated Supervising Sound Editor. He has been involved with the creation of over 140 Feature Film and Television soundtracks across a range of genres, including Action, Drama, Musicals, Comedy and Science Fiction.
As resourceful sound artist and with his years of experience, Yawn applies the same rigorous attention to detail and creativity to all projects he's involved with. Whether it's a studio blockbuster, a high profile streaming series, a smaller independent film, or a network episodic drama. His aim is to deliver a unique distinctive soundtrack that fulfills the filmmaker's vision and brings the story to life.
"Film Making and Sound Design is a craft for which I am fortunate to be a part of. Every film is distinct and takes on it's own life during the sound design phase. I love sharing in that process and being able to make a creative contribution to something that lives forever."
Past:
Richard started his film career early on working in Ariel Cinematography at Tyler Camera Systems Inc. in the early 80's. "It was a lot of fun working around helicopters and cameras, but it was very specialized and the work was limited."
He quickly discovered a passion for the craft of Sound Editing and Design while working on independent films. "I was always the guy they would hand the Nagra to, to go get fresh sounds for whatever film we working on at the time. I love the process of finding that interesting sound, recording something new and fitting it in the film."
Richard was an Operating Partner and Supervising Sound Editor as part of the SoundStorm Six, with SoundStorm Inc. in Burbank, CA. As a company SoundStorm earned five Academy Award Nominations and a win for "The Ghost and The Darkness."
