Not to be confused with the 1986 Gary Paulsen novel that was on your fifth-grade reading list, Adam Green's 2007 slasher "Hatchet" was intended to be an homage to the plentiful stalk-and-kill movies from the 1980s. The first "Hatchet" takes place deep in the swamps of Louisana where feckless city-dwellers get lost while taking a swamp tour. They trade stories of Victor Crowley, a local kid with facial differences who, years ago, was trapped in a burning house set ablaze by prankster teens. Crowley was accidentally killed by his father when he recklessly used a hatchet to free him from the fire. Victor's spirit is now said to haunt the swamp and murder interlopers. Of course, Victor will appear to start the predicted murders.
Victor Crowley was played by stuntman Kane Hodder, perhaps best known for playing the masked killer Jason Voorhees in "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood,...

Imagine if the beautiful Ariel in Disney’s animated film The Little Mermaid had sharp teeth and human blood on her lips. Well, that’s exactly what the team behind The Little Mermaid thought when they came up with the concept of this film!
To make one more nostalgic film a traumatic event for the world, Msr Media recently released the trailer for their upcoming horror film. Based on the story by Hans Christen Andersen (the author behind The Little Mermaid), this horrific trailer is everything that Halle Bailey’s film wasn’t!

Back in 1986, Caroline Williams played one of my all-time favorite horror final girls, “Stretch” in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. She has followed that with several more horror movie appearances, taking roles in the likes of Leprechaun 3, Blind, and the recent Nicolas Cage Dracula movie Renfield, among many others. Now The Horror Collective has announced that they’ll be bringing us a Christmas-set (and 80s-set) slasher called He Sees You When You’re Sleeping this holiday season, and Williams is in the cast of that movie as well!

The action-thriller Megalodon: The Frenzy is a film directed by Brendan Petrizzo. The cast includes Caroline Williams, Eric Roberts, Jessica Chancellor, and others who have helped in the proper execution of the film. The attack of the supposedly extinct sharks, the Megalodons, take the lives of many across California and wreck severe damage on some ships and submarines. After sustaining damage, the naval ships U.S.S. King and U.S.S. Fragasso manage to protect Cratus, a research submarine and help it escape. The movie seems to have drawn inspiration from films like The Meg, Jaws, Open Water. Shark Night, and others. Replete with thrills and action, the movie is bound to keep the audience glued to their seats till the end. Will the Cratus be able to manage its way past the lurking dangers under the depths of the ocean? Let us find out!

August 22nd marked the 37th anniversary of the release director Tobe Hooper‘s sequel to his 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A sequel appropriately titled The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (get it Here). Many fans celebrated the film with star Bill Moseley on social media – and the occasion inspired Moseley to reminisce about the moment when he ad-libbed one of the most popular lines in the film: “Lick my plate, you dog dick!”
In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Moseley played the maniacal goofball Chop Top, who is revealed to have had a metal plate placed in his head after he received a head wound during the Vietnam War. He wrote on Facebook, “Damn, a whole lotta love for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 yesterday on the occasion of its 37th birthday! Love the movie, love the memories, love Chop Top! Now that Renfield is available on Blu-ray and DVD, I think a lot of people will be kicking themselves for not sinking their teeth into the horror-comedy on the big screen. The home video release boasts an hour of making-of featurettes and deleted/extended scenes, plus an audio commentary with eight crew members.
The track features producer Samantha Nisenboim, screenwriter Ryan Ridley, makeup effects supervisor Christien Tinsley, visual effects supervisor James E. Price, assistant editor Noah Cody, supervising sound editor/sound designer John Marquis, supervising sound editor Nancy Nugent, and supervising digital colorist David Cole.
Here are eight things I learned from the Renfield commentary…
1. Using footage from the original Dracula was Adam McKay’s idea.
Renfield opens with Nicolas Cage’s Dracula and Nicholas Hoult’s Renfield inserted into footage from Tod Browning’s 1931 classic adaptation of Dracula, a concept that came from McKay after boarding the project.

Universal’s Dracula comedy Renfield (read our review Here), starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his titular lackey, was a box office disaster, pulling in just $25 million worldwide… which is a shame, because the movie is a lot of fun. Maybe it will reach more of an audience when it receives a digital, Blu-ray, and DVD release on June 6th – and Universal is doing their best to make sure viewers will check it out, giving it a “Dracula Sucks Edition” release that will be packed with extras!
Based on a treatment written by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Renfield was directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (Rick and Morty). In Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, R.M. Renfield was an inmate at a lunatic asylum who was thought to be suffering from delusions but actually is a servant of Dracula.

Universal’s Dracula comedy Renfield (read our review Here), starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his titular lackey, didn’t light up the box office when it reached theatres last weekend. So far it has only pulled in just over $12 million… and those are the worldwide numbers. So there probably aren’t a whole lot of you who have seen the movie to know that the dance sequence Hoult shared on social media last Friday is a deleted scene… but trust us, the dance sequence isn’t in the movie. What Renfield Easter Eggs did you miss?

Horror’s resident St. Patrick’s Day icon built a reputation on schlock. Rhyming puns, a hokey sense of humor that includes an obsession with shoes and gold, and a serious case of wanderlust – the pint-sized killer has traveled from Hollywood, Vegas, space, and the hood, after all.
Surprisingly, though, the Leprechaun ranks pretty high on the list in terms of horror icons with the most kills. He’s managed to surpass fellow figures Chucky and Freddy Krueger as he has now murdered his way through eight films. Freddy and pals have the edge when it comes to creative deaths; a lot of little Lep’s slaying happens off-screen or via quick cutaways.
That’s not to say there aren’t some gory gems throughout the franchise, though.

Julian Sands is being remembered by actors and filmmakers everywhere.
After the “A Room With a View” and “Ocean’s 13” star went missing while hiking in the Mount Baldy region in San Bernardino County, hopes for Sands’ return have flooded social media.
Cassian Elwes penned, “I’ve known since Friday that my friend Julian Sands has been missing on Mt. Baldy. I’m devastated. A very close family friend who was an adventurer in everything he did. I’ve said many prayers. Life is fleeting and precious.”
Jon Cryer added, “I am hoping against hope that this will turn out to be just another one of his adventures. I’m so sorry for his family and friends going through this.”
Matthew Modine wrote, “Julian Sands is a wonderful man, husband, father, and friend to so so many. A gentle, kind soul. Keep candles burning for his safe return from the mountain he loves.

Near the pinnacle of director-driven ’70s cinema is this marvelous comedy about a ‘American Miss’ contest, and the swirl of personalities that come to support, promote and ogle the teen beauties just learning the ropes of the good old U.S. hype machine. Bruce Dern, Barbara Feldon and Michael Kidd are just wonderful as the adults in charge of the pageantry; Annette O’Toole, Joan Prather and Melanie Griffifth are among the hopefuls, learning an early lesson in a time honored, entirely bogus Americana ritual: as Michael Kidd says, he teaches these sweet kids to dance and behave like Vegas showgirls. It’s deceptively, distractingly funny — and as true as the day is long.

Wamg Interview: Caroline Williams – Star of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and 10 Minutes To Midnight
Caroline Williams began her career in Texas, and quickly established herself in the Texas movie marketplace doing commercials, industrial films and voiceover work. She soon found herself busy with roles in such films The Legend Of Billie Jean (1985) and Getting Even (1985). After her star-making turn as Stretch in 1986’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Pt 2., Caroline moved to LA and appeared in films such as The Stepfather 2 (1989), Days Of Thunder (1990), and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (2000)
In her latest, Ten Minutes To Midnight, Caroline Williams returns to the DJ booth for the first time since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Pt 2. Williams plays Amy Marlowe, a veteran late night radio host on the eve of forced retirement trapped inside the station by a violent storm after being bitten by a rabid bat.
Caroline Williams took the time to talk to We Are Movie Geeks about her career and about Ten Minutes To Midnight.

Do you ever listen to late night radio programmes? There's a special art to presenting at that hour. A lot of listeners are driving and they need to be kept awake but not distracted. Others are lonely, sitting through late shifts with only the radio for company or isolated in their homes. For decades now, Amy (Caroline Williams) has been a lifeline for such listeners. Now, however, her boss (William Youmans) has decided that they (and he) would respond better to a younger woman. He's picked a hell of a night to tell her.
Amy is late to the studio. She's never late. It's understandable, however, given the awful weather and the encounter she had with a bat along the way. Her colleague tells her that she really ought to go to the emergency room and get those puncture marks on her neck checked out, but the storm makes that impossible.

Screen Anarchy has an exclusive clip to share with you today. You can see it, the trailer and a small selection of stills down below. In Ten Minutes to Midnight, Caroline Williams returns to the DJ booth for the first time since her star-making turn as Stretch in 1986's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Williams plays Amy Marlowe, a veteran late night radio host on the eve of forced retirement trapped inside the station by a violent storm after being bitten by a rabid bat. The film draws inspiration from classic horror tales brought to life by Stephen King, The Twilight Zone, and other forgotten late night horror anthology programs.
Erik Bloomquist (Long Lost) directed from a screenplay co-written with Carson Bloomquist.

After botched laser eye surgery treatment, actress Faye completely loses her vsion and is trying to get used to life in the dark. We find Faye attending support groups and making visually impaired freinds who are helping her deal with things. She’s also falling for the leader of the support group, Luke, who is a mute and can only communicate through his mobile. We are going to spend the day/night with Faye as she learns she may not be as alone in the house as she thinks.
I am skipping straight to end with this review because, honestly, Blind is pretty average, not amazing but good enough to rave about either. However… Sarah French is absolutely brilliant in the lead role and holds this film up on her shoulders aloine.

“Hired to be fired.” That’s what radio DJ Amy Marlowe (Caroline Williams) tells her boss (William Youmans) one rainy night before her show… her final show at Wlst Radio, to be exact, as she’s getting the proverbial boot to make room for young up-and-comer Sienna (Nicole Kang). Amy knows that 30 years at one radio station is a damn good run for any DJ, but that doesn’t make leaving any easier. There’s the lack of respect (and sexual harassment) from her superior, the audacity to be asked to have Sienna shadow her on her last day, the fear of a forced major life change, and then there’s that pesky bite on Amy’s neck that isn’t helping matters, either, especially since it may have come from a bat with rabies… or something much, much worse.

Tagline: "There's Never Been a Night Like this One." Ten Minutes to Midnight is a vampire thriller. From Mainframe Pictures, this title involves a hurricane, which traps a radio host inside. Meanwhile, Amy's replacement is acting strangely and confined to the shadows. As well, this title was developed by Erik Bloomquist (She Came from the Woods), with co-writer Carson Bloomquist. Ten Minutes to Midnight has a cast, consisting of: Caroline Williams (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Nicholas Tucci (You're Next) and Nicole Kang. The film's early film poster and a production update are hosted here. The first graphic shows several of the characters. A vampire looms above, under the tagline: "Late night bites." A Hurricane rages as a character, forefront, screams. Vampire bats and radio towers frame this film poster as Ten Minutes to Midnight begins its debut, this week. Ten Minutes to Midnight is set to show at Cannes,...

Given that things are utterly bananas in the world right now, I think we’re all looking for places where we can get some comfort food, both of the literal and figurative variety. And when I think of comforting experiences in the horror genre, I think Caroline Williams. Ever since I first saw her play Vanita “Stretch” Brock in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, I’ve noticed that even her screams seem to have an element of laidback southern charm as all manner of gore and mayhem play out around her. She’s been a prolific presence on both the big and small screens since the ’80s, but she always manages to find her way back to the horror fold with turns in Stepfather II, Rob Zombie’s Halloween II, Leprechaun 3, and Verotika. So for this month’s movie, I’m going to combine her comforting screen presence with a film...
