“Bridgerton” has cast Yerin Ha as Benedict Bridgerton’s love interest for Season 4.
According to sources, Ha will play Sophie Beckett in the upcoming season of the hit Shondaland-Netflix series. As previously announced, Season 4 will tell Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) love story and will be based on the events of Julia Quinn’s third “Bridgerton” novel, “An Offer From a Gentleman.”
Reps for Netflix and Shondaland declined to comment. Reps for Ha did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Per the official logline for the season, “The fourth season of ‘Bridgerton’ turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
Beckett is the “Lady in Silver.” In the novel, she is the illegitimate daughter of an earl and one his maids.

Bridgerton fans know that the series, as well as the spin-off Queen Charlotte, are based on historical events. It’s based in the early 19th century and some real-life historical figures appear in the show. England’s King George III and his queen consort Charlotte Mecklenburg-Strelitz are the central figures in the spin-off.
As much as viewers love Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel, it’s entirely possible her time on Bridgerton could be coming to an end. Season 3 takes place around 1815. The real queen died in 1818.
So does the production team have plans to kill off the beloved character on the show?
Historically, Queen Charlotte Would Have Died Within The Bridgerton Timeline
Bridgerton premiered on Netflix during the early days of the pandemic, captivating viewers around the world. Almost immediately, fans fell in love with Queen Charlotte, the snarky monarch with larger-than-life wigs.

The Ton would not be the same without Queen Charlotte, who’s as much a fixture in Bridgerton as the Netflix drama’s titular family. But historically speaking, the fashionable royal consort is poised to die relatively soon.
Season 3 is set around 1815 and the beloved monarch’s real-life death occurs in November 1818 — mere months before the birth of her granddaughter, the future Queen Victoria.

Watching Bridgerton is like picking up your favourite novel and diving right back into it as if no time has passed. The first episode is titled ‘Out of The Shadows,’ it does exactly what it says. The episode starts by introducing a newly married Viscount and Viscountess Bridgterton. The happy Bridgerton family soars on with anxiety about Francesca’s debut while Eloise recovers from two heartbreaks – her fight with Penelope Featherington and her first heartbreak with Theo.
There is so much happening in season 3 that it might feel almost rushed.

Nearly a year after Queen Charlotte’s six-episode Season 1 binge drop, mega producer Shonda Rhimes — who wrote and served as showrunner on the series — is speaking on the potential for new episodes.
The Netflix drama told the story of Charlotte and George’s passionate romance and how their arranged union sparked a societal shift that resulted in the diverse world presented in Bridgerton. The season ended with the titular monarch and a rarely lucid King George in present day celebrating the news of their son Edward finally conceiving an heir.

In the new clip, debuted at a “Bridgerton” fan event in London, U.K. attended by Quinn and executive producer Shonda Rhimes, Lady P. finally confronts Colin about his reluctance to court her. “Because I embarrass you, of course you would never court me,” she tells him, with tears in her eyes.

Netflix has debuted a new batch of first-look images of Penelope and Colin’s budding romance in season 3 of ‘Bridgerton.’
Season 3 will be based on ‘Romancing Mister Bridgerton,’ the fourth book in Julia Quinn’s series. The third season finds Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) finally giving up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters.
But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.

When reading actor Brian Cox's memoir "Putting the Rabbit in the Hat," I was disappointed that he didn't mention his work on David Fincher's superlative "Zodiac." Throughout the book, Cox shows no reluctance to burn bridges, and given his ribbing of "Succession" co-star Jeremy Strong's method acting, I was eager to see if he'd have similar words about Fincher's infamous perfectionism. Alas, no such stories exist.
True to its title, the 2007 "Zodiac" film is about the Zodiac killer, the still unidentified murderer who left Northern California quaking with fear as the 1960s closed. The film spans the 1960s to 1980s (with an epilogue in 1991), focusing on the killings and then Robert Graysmith's (Jake Gyllenhaal) investigation years later.

Ready for another rendezvous with the ton?
“Bridgerton” is returning to Netflix in 2024, with the third season of the period drama waltzing onto streaming in two parts. The first four episodes will premiere on May 16, and the next four will be available to stream on June 13.
Along with the announcement, Netflix released a video stitching together previously seen footage with TikToks and social media posts from fans eager to revisit the upper crust of Regency-era London.
The Shondaland series will jump right into Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) romance in Season 3, diverting from the Julia Quinn books it’s based on. Meanwhile, Penelope will have to deal with her rift with Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), who, according to Netflix’s description, has found a new friend in an unlikely place. With a growing presence in the ton, Penelope is challenged with keeping her Lady Whistledown alter ego under wraps.

Netflix has debuted a set of first-look images of Penelope and Colin’s budding romance in season 3 of ‘Bridgerton.’
Season 3 will be based on ‘Romancing Mister Bridgerton,’ the fourth book in Julia Quinn’s series. Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as she’s finally given up her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing him disparage her to his friends last season. Instead, she’s focusing on finding a husband who will respect her independence so she may continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. Due to her lack of confidence, however, her search doesn’t go so well.

Colin is back from his summer travels with a new look and major swagger. He is disheartened to learn that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.

Dear Readers, rejoice! Netflix is giving Bridgerton fans their first look at the upcoming third season of Shondaland’s hit costume drama with new photos featuring the show’s latest it-couple, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). As part of the streamer’s Tudum event, viewers were treated to the release of images featuring the fan-favorite duo who will take center stage in Season 3. Fresh off the heels of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story excitement, the flagship series is preparing for its next chapter. (Credit: Liam Daniel/Netflix) Showrun this time around by Jess Brownell, the season is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen. As viewers may recall, Penelope and Colin didn’t leave things off on a positive note in the Season 2 finale as she overheard him chatting with friends, suggesting he’d never explore the possibility of a relationship with her.

“Bridgerton” fans are getting a first look at Season 3, released on Saturday during Netflix’s Tudum event.
“Bridgerton” Season 3 picks up with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) love story. After finally giving up on her long-unrequited feelings for Colin once she heard his snide comments about her, Penelope has decided it’s time to take a husband — preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But her attempts so far haven’t sprouted any fruitful potentials.
Colin, on the other hand, returns for Season 3 with a new swagger about him, but he’s disheartened to find that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him, is giving him the cold shoulder. “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” has one of the most complicated, and yet stylistically unified, scores of any series this year — Kris Bowers‘ original score, the 18th-century period music, and a surprising number of string-quartet covers of 21st-century hits.
The Netflix series, a prequel to the 2021 hit “Bridgerton,” imagines a Black bride for England’s King George III in 1761, chronicling their initially rocky marriage and her gradual understanding of the monarch’s mental illness; flash-forwards to 1817 feature an older and wiser queen.
Bowers, who earned two Emmy nominations for his work, returned for the prequel but took a different approach. “This show needed a level of intimacy that the score for ‘Bridgerton’ doesn’t necessarily have,” he says. “My initial instinct was to write for a smaller ensemble, and to mic and mix the music in a way that was more intimate and tactile, a sense of closeness to the instruments.

‘Queen Charlotte’ Star Arsema Thomas on Taking up Space as Lady Danbury and as a Black Queer Actress
When Bridgerton was first released in 2020, Arsema Thomas wanted so badly to be a part of that world she couldn’t even watch the hit Netflix period romance.
“I don’t know what it was, but sometimes when you see something that you want and you see that it’s already come and gone, it’s difficult to sit and enjoy it without thinking of that,” Thomas, 28, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I think that was what was going through my mind, that this would be the perfect thing, the greatest thing… to see that it came and went and I didn’t hear of an audition, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m gutted. I don’t think I can ever watch this.’”

There is nothing “other” about HBO Max’s “The Other Two.”
The acclaimed comedy returned for its third season with two new episodes on May 4, wasting no time in reminding viewers and voters why it should be in the running for Best Comedy Series. The showbiz satire, which was created, written, directed and executive-produced by former “Saturday Night Live” writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, picks up in a post-pandemic world with self-obsessed siblings Cary (Drew Tarver) and Brooke (Heléne Yorke) having found success (or something close to it if you squint) as an actor and a manager, respectively. But although they have escaped the shadow of their younger brother Chase (Case Walker), neither can get out of their own way long enough to make real progress. With excellent supporting performances from Molly Shannon and Josh Segarra (the Mvp of every show he appears in), “The Other Two” is the...

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”.
“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”, now streaming on Netflix, tackles King George III’s mental health struggle, and actor Corey Mylchreest — who portrays the young royal in the drama — has now spoken out about filming such scenes.
The “Bridgerton” spinoff tells the origin story of a young Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and her arranged marriage to George.
In real life, the King was never specifically diagnosed with a mental illness, but it’s been reported that he suffered multiple bouts of quite severe mental illness during his time on the throne.
“The series in itself is like a different beast,” Mylchreest told Variety of the spinoff. “It feels like ‘Bridgerton’ but it has maybe darker moments to it, and it’s a little bit grittier. So it feels like its own thing.”

Bridgerton seasons one and two were well-received Netflix originals. A show that gave the audience an alternate history version by reimagining a world where people from different races were part of the high society in England. Even though I had issues with the show, Bridgerton was path-breaking in its way. When stories from the pre-Victorian and Elizabethan eras are told and retold, Bridgerton comes across as a breath of fresh air when it comes to storytelling and music as well. We got to see Queen Charlotte, the cheeky older Queen of England who had a penchant for gossip but was also known for her strong personality. Keeping her character in mind, the makers of Bridgerton give us a spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which takes us back to a few decades ago when Charlotte was a young woman and was on the way to becoming King George III’s wife.

“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” is not just a spin-off series of the Netflix hit.
Centering on the titular character as portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel in the original series, the prequel, which premiered Thursday, extends the frills and romance of the “Bridgerton” universe by taking audiences back to the origins of the epic love story between Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and King George (Corey Mylchreest) and the substantial challenges that threatened their happiness.
While Julia Quinn’s “Bridgerton” novels provided the basis for the highly-successful Netflix TV adaptation, series creator Shonda Rhimes went off book to build on the historical figure Queen Charlotte, whose coronation marks the start of “The Great Experiment,” a societal shift that integrates people of color into the fair-skinned ton. Whereas the background of this societal shift introduces a somewhat adjusted world when Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page) first met in “Bridgerton’s” first season,...

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a series from Netflix directed by Tom Verica, starring India Ria Amarteifio y Golda Rosheuvel.
If you’re a fan, you’re going to love it. And if you are not, you will discover a wonderful fairy tale with an excellent production and a dynamic that, in our very humble opinion, surpasses the original series at the level of treatment.
Netflix has discovered a niche market (that’s its job), and it knows how to take advantage of it. This time it does it with a stylish spin-off, delving in a deeper story, full of humor and with the magnificent India Ria Amarteifio heading the cast and putting all the irony that the character requires.

The official trailer for Netflix’s “Queen Charlotte” is finally here.
Putting together puzzle pieces from the previously released thorny meet-cute first look between Young Queen Charlotte and Young King George as well as the overwhelming weight societal pressure that awaits her in the “Bridgerton” prequel series’ teaser, the trailer spotlights Queen Charlotte’s rise to the throne amid a loving yet tumultuous marriage.
As Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) arrives to the famed palace lamenting “Why me?” her brother attempts to knock some sense into his stubborn sister, saying “there are worse fates than marrying the king of England.”
While her brother might be right, Charlotte quickly starts to feel the weight of the nation on her shoulders as her union with the king is expected to bring about societal unity and “as many babies as possible.” While Brimsley (Sam Clemmett) offers Charlotte support as she prepares for her impending marriage and royal debut,...

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will premiere on Netflix May 4, and will have a Shondaland alum at the helm. Actor, producer, and director Tom Verica directed every episode of the Bridgerton spin-off and he recently revealed his approach to directing the romance period drama.

Verica has had a long career on television, working as an actor, director, and producer. Queen Charlotte is his latest project — a prequel series in the Bridgerton universe that tells the love story of the king and queen that reign in the show.
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes wrote every episode of the six-part series, with Verica serving as director. It’s not the first time Rhimes and Verica have collaborated, and the latter recently revealed what working on their latest project has been like.

The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) were the big winners at last night's Directors Guild of America's DGA Awards. The filmmaking duo took home the top prize, Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film, for "Everything Everywhere All At Once" — beating out directing legend Steven Spielberg ("The Fabelmans"), as well as Joseph Kosinski's massive aerial action film "Maverick," Todd Field's critical darling "Tár," and Martin McDonagh's black comedy "The Banshees of Inisherin."
These days, the Daniels seem to embody their hit film, being everything, everywhere, all at once. The Michelle Yeoh-led maximalist action-comedy has something for everyone, and is deeply, satisfyingly, weird. It topped many best-of lists (it was my #1 pick for Best Films of 2022) and is a favorite to take home the Academy Award for Best Picture. Now with a DGA Award under their belts, the odds of that happening are better than ever.

With less than a month to go before the Oscars, every award show counts. The next few weeks will see all of the major Hollywood guilds give out their annual awards, ensuring that each department gets its moment in the spotlight. Tonight, directors took center stage as Hollywood convened at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the Directors Guild of America Awards.
The ceremony honored outstanding achievement in both film and television directing, and the former category is often seen as predicting the Best Director winner at the Academy Awards. Four of the five Best Director nominees competed in the Feature Film category tonight: Steven Spielberg (“The Fabelmans”), Martin McDonagh (“The Banshees of Inisherin”), Todd Field (“TÁR”), and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”). “Triangle of Sadness” director Ruben Östlund is not nominated, with “Top Gun: Maverick” helmer Joseph Kosinski taking his place.
