We have still yet to get the first release for DC Studio’s Dcu, but with what we have seen so far with James Gunn’s Superman and now the full trailer for animated series Creature Commandos, they might actually be giving fans what they have long deserved.
James Gunn dropped the trailer for Creature Commandos this weekend, announcing on social media, “My pride in this project couldn’t be greater. A pleasure from start to finish with everyone involved. From DC Studios, here’s the full trailer for the beautiful, horrible and tragic” Creature Commandos. Below came the trailer itself, which features one badass opening line from Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller: “The United States is in the business of saving the damn world by any means possible…Congress said we can’t use human prisoners…These assholes aren’t human.”

DC Studios has released a new trailer for Creature Commandos at New York Comic Con which offers us a much better idea of what to expect from both the Max animated series and the new Dcu.
It starts by explaining the premise of the show as Amanda Waller, no longer allowed to assemble human prisoners for Task Force X, rounds up these creatures to form a new team overseen by Rick Flag Sr. We're introduced to each member of the team and get a first look at Wonder Woman villain Circe, Creature Commandos' big bad.
Another major talking point is the presence of Batman bad guy Clayface. He looks very comic-accurate and, with James Gunn confirming we'll see these characters in future live-action projects, this must mean the Dcu's Dark Knight has crossed paths with the shape-shifting rogue.
In terms of violence, Creature Commandos looks like a hard R and...

The DC Universe is in desperate need of a reset, and it's about to get one next year. DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have an ambitious plan for a unified DC multiverse, which they first laid out in early 2023. While that kicks off in earnest with Gunn's "Superman" movie next summer, it is technically the animated "Creature Commandos" that will usher in this new era for the Dcu. Fresh from the halls of New York Comic Con, we've got a brand new trailer for the series, which hits the Max streaming service in December. Have a look for yourself.
"Creature Commandos" is sort of a spin-off of "The Suicide Squad" in that it's Amanda Waller once again leading a team of not-so-good people executing missions that the good guys can't or won't do. We've also got some returning characters, most notably Weasel, but it's largely a...

“Every step of the way, I felt like I hit the jackpot on this,” declares two-time Oscar and 10-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and musician Finneas O’Connell about debuting as a TV composer for the prestige drama “Disclaimer.” For our recent webchat he adds, “like any opportunity like that, you feel this immense pressure to not be the weak link, to not mess it up. I love pressure like that. I think one of the things that drew me to composing for film and television in the first place was the feeling, like when I make a pop album, the first several albums, when I was less experienced, I had this real feeling of anxiety of ‘I don’t know how to do this, I don’t know what I’m doing,’ but it really pushed me to learn all this stuff and to create stuff in a way that I would never otherwise have created.

The first few projects in the new DC Universe already have one common element: Frank Grillo. The actor will debut as Rick Flag Sr. in the animated series Creature Commandos before making the leap to live-action in Superman and the second season of Peacemaker. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, DC Studios co-head James Gunn dropped a few hints on Grillo’s character.
“He is a really cool character that Frank has been molding,” Gunn said. “The character’s also in Superman, and he’s an incredibly important part in Peacemaker. He is one of the primary characters in Peacemaker season 2. So we get to see this character from different angles, and he is not simple.“
Gunn continued, “This isn’t just a good guy, not at all. We see all different sides of his character. He is morally a complex human being. Grillo is somebody who I’ve known for a little while,...

Alfonso Cuarón’s potboiler Disclaimer, an adaptation of the Renee Knight’s 2015 novel of the same name, begins with famed documentarian Catherine (Cate Blanchett) being fêted at an awards ceremony. Scenes of Catherine and her husband, Roger (Sacha Baron Cohen), living a posh life in their gorgeous London rowhouse are intercut with a storyline about a pair of students, Jonathan (Louis Partridge) and Sasha (Liv Hill), having a gap-year escapade in Italy. Meanwhile, a gloomier third narrative tracks Stephen (Kevin Kline), a widowed schoolteacher who seems to have lost every reason for living except for the drive to exact vengeance on Catherine for a crime that he believes she got away with.
These plot strands are at first loosely knit together, but Cuarón pulls the strings tighter and tighter throughout the first few episodes. Catherine receives a novel, The Perfect Stranger, privately published by Stephen, which seems to mirror a...

The official trailer for Apple TV+’s psychological thriller Disclaimer ends, fittingly enough, with a disclaimer: “Any resemblance to persons living or dead is not a coincidence.” But before that appears, Cate Blanchett is tormented by the threat that secrets from her past are about to be made public.
Oscar winner Kevin Kline, three-time Oscar nominee Sacha Baron Cohen, and Oscar nominee Kodi Smit-McPhee star, in addition to two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett. The cast also includes Oscar nominee Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon, and Indira Varma as the narrator.

When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets and threatens to destroy her family,” reads Apple TV+’s synopsis.

Loose lips sink ships, but Frank Grillo still sails the superhero seas after hitting rough waters with Marvel Studios on multiple occasions. Speaking with Comicbook.com for his upcoming film Long Gone Heroes, Grillo spoke about joining DC’s Creature Commandos, where he plays Rick Flag Sr. The animated monster mash launches DC Studios‘ new direction for the Dcu, and the studio is serious about keeping spoilers under wraps. Grillo, who plays Brock Rumlow (Crossbones) in the MCU, has an unfortunate habit of unintentionally breaking the rules and was almost fired by Marvel 36 times for opening his mouth too wide. Once known as Dune: The Sisterhood, the TV series Dune: Prophecy, which serves as a prequel to the Dune feature films directed by Denis Villeneuve, started filming in November of 2022, then underwent quite a shake-up in 2023 when the director of the first two episodes, Johan Renck (who executive produced and directed all five episodes of the HBO limited series Chernobyl) decided to leave the project over creative issues, then Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) – who had been cast as one of the show’s lead characters – followed him out the door. Everything has been worked out since then, with Dune: Prophecy on track for a November premiere on both HBO and the Max streaming service… and now we’ve learned that the promotions will begin at New York Comic Con, where attendees will get to experience both a panel and a fan experience.

The “old world” is a wasteland. People still live there, but not for very long. Those in the “new world” live hundreds of years thanks to a drug that slows aging. It’s groundbreaking technology that comes at a price: the combination of scarce real estate on which to live safely and figurative immortality means less to go around for a populace that never decreases. The compromise was thus to take China’s now-defunct “one-child policy” to the nth degree and render the conception of all children illegal. Unless you’re granted a waiver by the government, but that permission is understandably not easily won. You must prove yourselves worthy as a couple via a seven-day evaluation.

Last week, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn dropped a plethora of new information related to the first chapter of his newly crafted Dcu with an official confirmation from Max that the adult-animated series Creature Commandos is set to debut on Thursday, Dec. 5, before the end of the year. After the premiere, the series will be one new installment every week until the finale on Jan. 16, 2025.
In addition to the series landing a premiere, Gunn offered a creative sample and a small variety of tidbits of what’s in store for the DC Studios brand during an exclusive sit-down with Trade Entertainment Weekly.
The director explained, "The thing I've always loved about DC Comics was that you had your mainstream comics that always ran, but they also had these tonally different comics like Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns and All-Star Superman."
Gunn added, noting critical differences from his time and process at Marvel.

Christmas comes early for DC fans this year as the release date for James Gunn’s Creature Commandos arrives to end 2024 with an action-packed monster mash! Premiering December 5 on Max, the first entry in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s “Gods and Monsters” arc finds Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) with her hands tied, operationally, meaning that she’s no longer able to get away with putting human lives on the line to carry out her clandestine morally questionable missions. Instead, she recruits a ragtag band of misfits, not unlike the Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Her new team is a collective of literal monsters, bringing tooth and claw to the Dcu with unpredictable tempers and tantrums that could change how Waller wins the day.

Updated: Max has set Thursday, December 5 for the premiere of Creature Commandos, the streamer announced today. The seven-episode adult animated series will release one episode weekly through January 16.
See series details below and trailer above.
Previous, July 26: James Gunn beamed in from the Superman set Friday at Comic-Con to show off the new teaser for Max’s animated series Creature Commandos, which he wrote all seven episodes on. Premiere date is December.
In the footage, which you can see above, Viola Davis reprises her role as Amanda Waller. She walks Captain Flag down to inner prison areas where we’re introduced to a bunch that’s crazier than the Suicide Squad: Weasel, The Bride, G.I. Robot, Dr. Phosphorus, Frankenstein and Nina Mazursky.
“These assholes aren’t human,” Waller tells Rick Flag. G.I. Robot later pops up, “It’s been oh., so long since G.I. Robot sent Nazia back to hell!

Exclusive: In what we understand to be a high seven-figure deal, Prime Video has scooped up all international rights (excluding Germany) to Toronto Film Festival sci-fi movie The Assessment, starring Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider), Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision), and Himesh Patel (Station Eleven).
Set in a near future where parenthood is strictly controlled, the film charts a couple’s seven-day assessment for the right to have a child. The ordeal unravels into a psychological nightmare, forcing them to question the foundations of their society and what it means to be human.
Also starring are Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Nicholas Pinnock (Captain America: The First Avenger), Charlotte Ritchie (Wonka), and Leah Harvey (Foundation).
We’ve heard good things about the movie, which marks Fleur Fortuné’s feature debut. Fortuné has previously directed music videos for 83, Skrillex and Drake, and ads for brands such as Chanel, Apple,...
