(Actress Poonam Dhillon had the chance to work with late writer Sagar Sarhadi in her second film "Noorie". She was barely 16-years-old when she played the title role, a character written by Sagar Sarhadi for the 1978 film. She recalls working with him and how over the years she got to know him better as a man of integrity, love and respect.)

Mumbai, March 22 (Ians) Noorie was the film that gave me my actual launch and propelled me into me being recognised, and getting a certain amount of name, fame and acclaim. That role was so beautifully written by him. That character was really lovable and soft. He was there at our shoot, where we were shooting in this very isolated place called Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir. He was fully involved in the film, in the dialogue and how a scene should be executed.

When the film 'Bazaar', Sagar Sarhadi's debut directorial venture, released in the early 1980s, several pre-established boundaries were challenged - not just been art and mainstream cinema, but also characterisations. There were no black and white characters, only humans with multiple shades. Tragedy was not an explosion but a series of daily upheavals. And suicide could be an act of self defence.
Sarhadi, who passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday night after age-related issues started his writing career with Urdu plays and short stories.
Born near Abbottabad, he migrated to Delhi at the age of 12.
Entering the Hindi film industry with a bang by writing dialogues for Yash Chopra's 1976 'Kabhie Kabhie', starring Amitabh Bachchan and Raakhee, he also wrote the screenplay for 'Silsila' and dilogues for 'Chandni'.
In the 90s, he also wrote dialogues for Shah Rukh Khan's debut 'Deewana' and Hritik Roshan's 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai'.

The Least Of These: The Graham Staines Story
Starring: Sharman Joshi, Stephen Baldwin
Directed by Aneesh Daniels
From the outset of this profoundly moving though flawed recreation of the ghastly Graham Staines murder, the director and his writer Andrew Matthews, make it very clear to us whose side they are on.
And that’s perfectly fine by me. A work of art is most welcome to take sides if it knows the truth. And truth in this case was this: Odhisa-based Australian missionary Graham Staines did not indulge in conversion of the locals. He was cleared of all malafide intentions by a investigative committee after Staines and his two little sons were burnt to death by goons with suspicious political affiliation. Nobody is suggesting saffron in the blood. This has gone far beyond mere suggestion.
It is interesting how the director has chosen Sharman Joshi’s character of the out-of-luck...

It seems to be a season of unusual co-stars for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While in her comeback film Jazbaa, she was teamed with Irrfan Khan, in her next film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil she has Fawad Khan for company. Karan Johar's curious-looking love quadrangle has cast Fawad Khan opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In this contemporized version of Sagar Sarhadi's 1977 quadrangular drama Doosra Aadmi, Aishwarya steps into the role of a woman who has lost her beloved and sees a reflection of her dead lover in a much younger man whom she meets many years after the tragedy. Unfortunately, the debonair dude, played by Rishi Kapoor in Talwar's film and Ranbir in Karan Johar's film, is already engaged elsewhere. While Neetu Singh had played Rishi's girlfriend in Doosra Aadmi, Anushka Sharma plays Ranbir's lover-girl in Ae Dil Hai Mushqil. But the really interesting bit of casting that...
