Severin’s extravagant four-film six-disc The Complete Umberto Lenzi / Carroll Baker Giallo Collection is a luxurious trip into sexy, violent Italo thrill territory. CineSavant concentrates on the first Lenzi-Baker collaboration, a truly nasty bit of misanthropy that bridges the gap between standard ‘Lady In Peril’ fare and the full-bore giallos that would soon become the norm. It’s presented under its original title, which sounds more appropriate for a porn movie… in the U.S. the given title was Paranoia.

Desperation sets in at a new level for Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan) on Monday's (Dec. 9) episode of "Hostages."
Given that he and his family were taken hostage in their own home; he's been bound, beaten up and shot; had his corrupt business practices; and had his affair at the office and tenuous marriage and relationships with his kids exposed, viewers would expect he had reached these depths already.
But no, Brian manages to sink lower in this episode. After directing his daughter Morgan (Quinn Shephard) to steal a friend's cell phone so he can make a call that cannot be traced, he calls Nina Carlisle (Francie Swift), FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle's (Dylan McDermott) wife is in a hospital, dying of leukemia.
She has no idea that that her husband has been moonlighting as a kidnapper, holding a family hostage. Or that he is doing so until Brian's wife, Ellen (Toni Collette...

Since stabbing the man holding his family hostage with a needle full of poison didn't work, and all of his other plans failed, Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan) tries a new tact on Monday's (Dec. 9) all-new episode of "Hostages."
He calls Nina (Francie Swift) and tells her what her husband is up to, and oh yeah, by the way, she is the daughter of the president of the United States.
Brian has his daughter steal one of her friend's cell phones, so that the call won't be tapped. Then he calls Nina who is in a hospital bed, dying of leukemia. Still, Nina has the presence of mind to question this stranger.
Nina's husband is FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott), who is part of a bizarre plan to hold the Sanders family hostage until Ellen Sanders (Toni Collette) does their bidding and kills the president while operating on him.

The Hostages won’t be sitting on their hands, by any stretch, as CBS’ 15-episode thriller continues this Monday 10/9c.
This week, Brian Sanders brainstorms an escape plan for his family, which is being held virtual prisoner until matriarch Ellen can kill the President of the United State during surgery. After that, someone will need ER attention (but in the kitchen) and an unexpected drop-in drums up dire drama. TV vet Tate Donovan gave TVLine a preview of the twists and turns to come.

Hilarie Burton has been taken hostage by CBS.
Indeed, the veteran actress (On Tree Hill, Grey's Anatomy, White Collar, Castle) will recur on CBS' new drama Hostages. According to TV Line, she will portray the assistant to the main character's husband, Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan), a shady real estate dealer.
Hostages premieres on Monday, September 23 and will tell the story of Toni Collette's Dr. Ellen Sanders, a surgeon scheduled to perform an operation on the President of the United States…

Is Megan Draper going to die?
That question is at the center of a "Mad Men" theory that has suddenly erupted on the Internet. Started by a Twitter post and then fueled by rampant speculation on Reddit, fans of the AMC drama are now wondering if Megan (Jessica Pare) will suffer a fate similar to Manson family-victim Sharon Tate.
The history
Sharon Tate was an actress who rose to prominence throughout the decade of the 1960s. Originally appearing in small television roles, she gradually moved into film and was nominated for a 1967 Golden Globe Award for her performance in "Valley of the Dolls."
With her marriage to director Roman Polanski in 1968, Tate's career seemed poised to go only upward. She became pregnant early in the marriage and was only two weeks from her due date when she met a shocking death.

Continuing the trend of enigmatic marketing art from last year's campaign, which featured a photo of Don Draper (Jon Hamm) looking at a window display containing two mannequins, the season six "Mad Men" key art released by AMC yesterday involves a drawing of the show's protagonist passing himself on a New York street. Don Draper, meet Dick Whitman? Or is that another past self? The retro key art is the work of Brian Sanders, a 75-year-old illustrator who worked in the era in which the show is set. Of the "Mad Men" poster, he told the New York Times that "It’s a style we refer to over here in England as bubble and streak. I don’t work in that manner now, and I was surprised how quickly it came back, the ability to use it in that particular way." The two-hour "Mad Men" premiere will air on AMC on Sunday,...

“Mad Men” will be back in April for the premiere of the highly-anticipated sixth season. AMC has released some really spectacular key art for the new season, created by veteran illustrator Brian Sanders. I’ve found that the key art always seems to have something to do with either events coming up in the season or some new development in Don Draper’s messed-up psyche. The key art shows Don Draper sort-of looking back at another guy he passes on the street–another Don Draper. Does this mean that Don is getting more paranoid? Will some huge thing about his fake identity be revealed? I don’t know. You can make your own conclusions [ Read More ]

We still have about a month to go before the April 7th premiere of "Mad Men" season 6, and given Matt Weiner's penchant for secrecy, don't expect much, if any, information about what's happening — or even, as usual, when it's happening. AMC did release one set of clues today, in the form of the season 6 key art, drawn by veteran illustrator Brian Sanders. It's an intriguing image that raises all sorts of questions and theories about the new season, like: * Why are there two Don Drapers? Is this a metaphor to represent Don's dual identity as Dick Whitman, or will he...

The new "Mad Men" Season 6 poster is full of clues and opens up many more questions.
The poster, drawn by illustrator Brian Sanders, shows two versions of Don Draper (Jon Hamm) walking past himself on Madison Avenue. One Draper holds hands with a faceless woman -- share your guesses in the comments -- while the other carries his briefcase to work.
Viewers will remember that Don kept his cheating ways in check last season while he tried to be a family man with his new wife Megan (Jessica Pare), but the series finale implied that he might not stay faithful for long.
Meanwhile, three cops leer at him from a distance, hinting that the Don's secret identity storyline might not be as dead as the real Don Draper.
Then there's the possibility that "Mad Men" could be entering its blue period, although it'd be hard to top last season's depressing vibes.

We're literally counting the days until Season 6 of "Mad Men" premieres April 7 on AMC, and the show's gorgeous new teaser poster only heightens the anticipation.
The image of two Don Drapers, headed in different directions, is in keeping with what star Jon Hamm has hinted at in promos for the new season: "There are definitely two sides to life. The part of life that is public and the part that is private," Hamm says. "We're trying to sort of pull back the curtain."
Of course, "Mad Men" fans know Don's two faces go beyond simple distinctions of personal and professional, all the way back to his roots as Dick Whitman. And last year's finale suggested Don -- who spent the season in newlywed bliss with Megan -- may be headed back to his adulterous ways.
So exactly whose hand is he holding below? And what's with all the ominous elements in the background: the police,...

Mad Men is well-known for leaving symbolic clues in the posters previewing upcoming seasons: The fourth season’s shots of an empty office, pointing toward Don Draper grappling with redefining himself after losing everything familiar. The fifth season’s stiffly posed, shop-window illusion of domestic bliss, and the mannequin Don totally got it on with. With that in mind, here’s season six as laid out by Brian Sanders, commercial artist of that era, with plenty more visual clues as to what to expect. Having been exposed to the red Kryptonite, this season finds Don split into Gray Don and ...

You would think for a show that revels in the bygone advertising era fuelled by cigarette smoke and sex, "Mad Men" would've had the lightning bolt to maybe grab someone from that time and do a little artwork for them. But for whatever reason, it's taken them until season six, but the results speak for themselves. Boasting the kind of artwork you might see on Peggy Olson's presentations in the the offices of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, this one sheet for the highly anticipated new season was created by Brian Sanders. The 75 year-old English native may not be household name, but his work back in the day caught the eye of none other than Stanley Kubrick, who tasked him to work on the set of "2001: A Space Odyssey" for two months, delivering illustrations of scenes from the movie (which you can see here along with his other advertising work...

Last year, Mad Men teased its return from a very long hiatus with a pair of very cool advertisements: A minimalist teaser ad which inspired a fill-in-the-blank graffiti meme, and an evocative image featuring a pair of extremely suggestive existential mannequins. But this year the show has taken a decidedly more classical approach. A new poster that hit New York subways is actually a drawing that looks straight out of an advertisement in a mid-60s New Yorker. (As reported by The New York Times, the poster was actually illustrated by an old pro named Brian Sanders, a commercial artist...

After years of Matthew Weiner mooning over classic advertising illustrations from the sixties, the Mad Men team went to the real deal for some of this year's promo imagery. "Finally they just looked up the person who had done all these drawings that I really loved, and they said: 'Hey, we’ve got the guy who did them. And he’s still working. His name is Brian Sanders,'" Weiner says. Sanders, a 75-year-old who once spent months illustrating Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey set and later did paperback covers for authors like John Steinbeck and John Fante, came up with an image of Don Draper that "looks as if it has time-traveled from the pages of an old copy of Reader’s Digest," per the Times. "What it did was take me right back, about 50 years," Sanders says, adding that he was already a Mad Men fan...
