AC/DC closed out their 2024 comeback tour with a concert attended by over 82,000 people at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
The rock legends ran through a 21-song setlist, opening with a one-two punch of “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” and “Back in Black.” The evening featured plenty of other hits spanning the band’s five-plus-decade career: “Thunderstruck,” “Hell’s Bells,” “High way to Hell,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirty Cheap,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long,” among others.
The set also featured two cuts from the band’s 2020 album, Power Up (“Demon Fire” and “Shot in the Dark”), as well as some choice deep cuts from the discography such as “Riff Raff,” “Stiff Upper Lip,” “Shot Down in the Flames,” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Train.”
A truly explosive encore of “T.N.T.” and “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” ended the evening and tour.

AC/DC wrapped up their 2024 Power Up tour Saturday night in front of 82,000 screaming fans at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. It was a typically bombastic show that concluded with the title track to their 1981 LP For Those About to Rock We Salute You. Check out fan-shot video of the grand finale.

The current incarnation of the band includes classic members Brian Johnson (vocals) and Angus Young (lead guitar) alongside rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and bassist Chris Chaney.
Stevie, the nephew of Angus, has been with the band for several years, filling in when Malcolm Young was diagnosed with dementia and remaining with the band following Malcolm’s passing in 2017.
Laug made his debut with AC/DC at their comeback gig at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, this past October after it was revealed that classic drummer Phil Rudd would not be performing with the band.

In 1974, Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, and the rest of their band Mudcrutch entered Leon Russell’s the Church Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to record their first demo tape with producer Denny Cordell. It was a crucial moment that led to the formation of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers two years later. In late April of this year, Campbell returned to the studio for the first time in 50 years.

AC/DC are teasing a major announcement for Monday, February 12th. Fans are speculating that the news could be the legendary rock band’s first run of tour dates in eight years.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act has posted video teasers on its social media sites, with the words “Are You Ready” and audio of the song by the same name from the 1990 album The Razors Edge.
A clip on Wednesday (February 7th) included the number “5,” implying the announcement was coming in five days. And a countdown clock on the band’s official website is scheduled to end at 3 a.m. Et on Monday.

Legendary hard-rock band AC/DC has paid tribute to their founding member Colin Burgess, following his death aged 77.
Burgess, an Australian drummer, was recruited to form the band in 1973, along with Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar, his brother Angus on lead guitar, Dave Evans on vocals and Larry Van Kriedt on bass.
Burgess was fired from the band the following year, after his colleagues accused him of being drunk on stage; he later said his drink had been spiked. Although he left the band, he returned to fill drumming duties in 1975.
AC/DC said on their social media pages:
“Very sad to hear of the passing of Colin Burgess. He was our first drummer and a very respected musician. Happy memories, rock in peace Colin.”
No cause of death has yet been reported.

Burgess, an Australia native, teamed with other members of the first lineup of AC/DC, which also included lead vocalist Dave Evans, Malcolm Young, Angus Young and Larry Van Kriedt. After starting with the group in 1973, he left the following year. Phil Rudd would go on to become the best-known drummer of AC/DC across three separate stints with the band, which has continued to tour in its sixth decade. Classic members Brian Johnson (vocals), Cliff Williams (bass), and Phil Rudd (drums) all rejoined AC/DC for their 2020 album Power Up. However, Rudd won’t be behind the kit when the band performs its first show in seven years on October 7th at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California.
On Saturday (September 9th), AC/DC posted rehearsal audio on their social pages (see below), with the caption: “Pwr Up for Power Trip! Listen to the rehearsal of the boys powering up with Cliff Williams, who’s coming out of retirement for the festival and Matt Laug on drums.”
Laug is a veteran drummer who has played with Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, and Slash’s Snakepit, among other acts. Most notably, he performed on several tracks on Morissette’s multiplatinum album Jagged Little Pill.

Back in 2021, Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier came to the defense of the oft-criticized Lars Ulrich, praising the Metallica drummer as a “genius” for his showmanship and rock-solid presence behind the kit.
Duplantier doubled down on that sentiment in another interview this year, saying, “We need to bring some justice for [Ulrich] … I’m a bit tired of seeing all this conversation about Lars because what he did create is quite unique. Listen to …And Justice for All. It’s amazing.”
While speaking with Ulrich for Consequence’s just-published Metallica cover story, we asked him what he thought about Duplantier calling him a “genius,” and the Metallica drummer opened up on his larger philosophy as a musician. For Ulrich, it’s never been about flexing skill.
“The goal has never been genius,” Ulrich said. “If there’s one constant, it’s certainly not landing in the place of genius; it’s...

AC/DC fans hoping to see the group back on tour sometime soon were given an encouraging sign on May 2nd when Brian Johnson came out midway through the Foo Fighters’ set to rip through “Back in Black” at Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World, which was held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Johnson’s presence wasn’t advertised, but it was proof that he’s ready to return to the stage after a long hiatus that began in 2016 when hearing problems forced to him leave an AC/DC tour prematurely.

AC/DC do what AC/DC do best in the video for the Power Up single “Realize.” The clip, filmed in black-and-white and through a guitar-distorting fisheye lens, shows the five musicians simply having a blast playing the no-frills rocker in a rehearsal studio. As the camera pans around, it reveals that lead guitarist Angus Young has a wall of about 40 Marshall amplifiers, which might account for some of the eye-stretching visuals. The track, which opens the album, is a masterclass in AC/DC, from its crushing, lumbering opening chords...

For decades, AC/DC have defended their devil-horned crown as rock’s most stubborn band. They’ve survived deaths (singer Bon Scott in 1980, guitarist Malcolm Young in 2017) and dirty deeds (drummer Phil Rudd was placed on house arrest after threatening to kill a man). Yet, they remain eternally committed to their core values: rocking out, hailing Satan, and never going within an outback mile of a ballad. Hell, their most transgressive move ever was using the bagpipes on “It’s a Long Way to the Top,” and that was in...

On the surface, AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” Manfred Mann’s Earth Band’s “Blinded by the Light,” and Tom Jones’ “Valerie” have nothing in common. They were recorded in different decades, targeted at different demographics, and they don’t sound even remotely alike. But they all feature the drumming of Chris Slade, a journeyman Welsh musician who has also played with Olivia Newton-John, Tom Paxton, Uriah Heep, David Gilmour, the Firm, Gary Moore, and Asia.

The video features late lead singer Bon Scott shirtless and screaming lines that would deem inappropriate today, like “She ain’t exactly pretty/ Ain’t exactly small/ Fourt’two thirt’ninefiftysix/ You could say she’s got it all.” Malcolm Young, who once said...

AC/DC played a steamy rendition of “The Jack,” singer Bon Scott’s ode to STDs, when the band appeared on the Dutch TV show Countdown on July 13th, 1979. Dressed only in jeans and shoes, Scott caressed his mic and peered out at the packed crowd as he sang sexual innuendos, leading them in a sing-along accompanied only by the drums. Angus Young, also shirtless, plays his own seedy guitar solo midway through the bluesy number.

Decades from now, historians will look back at 2016 as a time when the fabric of the universe broke down and chaos reigned. It wasn’t just the year when David Bowie, Glenn Frey, Merle Haggard, Prince, and Leonard Cohen died, England voted to break free from the European Union, and Donald Trump pulled the biggest surprise victory in the history of American politics; it was also a time when AC/DC parted ways with Brian Johnson under murky circumstances and brought in Axl Rose to fill the void.

AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams will no longer be back in black as the 66-year old confirmed his retirement on Tuesday. The news of Williams hanging up his bass comes during a tumultuous time for the group. During the last couple of years, AC/DC has seen the ousting (or medical leave, depending on who you ask) of lead singer Brian Johnson, Malcolm Young’s departure due to dementia, and Phil Rudd’s legal problems. “It's time for me to step out, that's all. Not because we’ve lost Mal (Malcolm Young), Phil or Brian. Everything changes,” Williams said. “I’m ready to get off the road and do what I do in between tours…It's just my time. I'm happy I just need family time, just chill out and not do this." Williams continued, “I couldn't have asked for anything more -- being with the people I'm with and have been,...

For the first time, New Zealand prosecutors have publicly outlined their case against AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd. On Friday, they said that he called a man who had worked for him for three years and threatened to kill him and his daughter. The details were in a brief one-page "summary of facts" released by prosecutors. They have charged the 60-year-old drummer with threatening to kill, which comes with a maximum prison sentence of seven years, as well as possessing methamphetamine and marijuana. He has pleaded not guilty and faces a judge-only trial next year. Prosecutors said that on Sept.

Rudd did not enter a plea during his brief appearance. The 60-year-old is charged with threatening to kill, which comes with a maximum prison sentence of seven years, as well as possessing methamphetamine and marijuana. Citing a lack of evidence, prosecutors earlier dropped a more serious charge that alleged Rudd tried to hire a hit man to kill two people. The New Zealand Herald reported that during his appearance,...
