Actor Michael Colgan studied English at Oxford University and trained at the Jacques Lecoq Theatre School in Paris. He made his London debut at the Donmar Warehouse alongside Helen McCrory in Paula Vogel's Pulitzer-winning How I Learned To Drive. Other theatre work includes leading roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Abbey Theatre, Old Vic, Young Vic, Arcola Theatre and Royal Exchange. TV work includes The Fall, The Thick Of It and Happy Valley for the BBC, Marcella (Netflix/ITV), Chernobyl (HBO), The Crown (Netflix), Michael Winterbottom's This England (Sky) and Stephen Frears's The Regime (HBO). Films include Oscar-winner Simon Beaufoy's This Is Not A Love Song, acclaimed Belfast punk biopic Good Vibrations, and legendary Irish cult movie The Eliminator. He also writes fiction under his birth name Michael Hughes, including the award-winning novel Country, a retelling of the Iliad set in his native Northern Ireland.
