Angelina Jolie might be one of the most famous actors in the world, but some of her younger fans might not know that the star is actually a nepo baby. The 48-year-old activist's dad is actor Jon Voight, 84, and her mom was the actor Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007 at 56. Jolie's parents were married from 1971 to 1980 and also welcomed her brother, James Haven. They separated when Jolie was 1.
After Voight and Bertrand split, Jolie and Haven lived primarily with their mom, who raised both kids in both New York and California. Though Jolie was close with her mom, she has had a more tense and difficult relationship with her dad, and there have been times when she and Voight have been publicly estranged.
"I grew up with my mom and my brother. [My father] was around occasionally for holidays or birthdays, and we had bits of time," Jolie told The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2003 of their relationship.

Jon Voight danced briefly on a makeshift stage in the East Room of the White House as the theme from Midnight Cowboy played and President Donald Trump prepared to award him the National Medal of Arts.
The jovial atmosphere was a contrast to what was taking place at the same time on Capitol Hill: Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, was giving his closing remarks in Thursday’s hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry.
Trump has labeled Schiff “shifty Schiff,” while Voight is one of the president’s highest profile Hollywood defenders. He’s blasted the Democrats on Twitter for pursuing the investigation.
At the ceremony, though, there was no mention of impeachment. Instead, Trump cited Voight’s Oscar and award nominations, as well as a list of credits that also include The Odessa File Deliverance, Coming Home, Pearl Harbor and Mission Impossible.

If you thought Angelina Jolie's relationship with Brad Pitt was complicated, think again! The A-list actress and her dad Jon Voight's relationship is by far one of the most confusing and complicated in Hollywood, but things are finally easier to understand. The father-daughter pair has had their fair share of ups and downs since the 1970s, but in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Angelina opened up about how the two are making it work today. "Jon and I have gotten to know each other — through grandchildren now — [and] we're finding a new relationship, and it's very, very nice," she told the news outlet. "We've had some difficulties, [but] through art we've been able to talk. It's the common language." (Photo Credit: Splash) But now, she knows what works and what doesn't work when communicating with her father today. "We don't really talk politics well," she confessed. "We talk art very well.

It's hard to believe Angelina Jolie has been a fixture of Hollywood for almost 20 years now.
Ever since breaking out in the late '90s with a string of critically-acclaimed performances, the actress quickly established herself as an international star. Between headlining hits like "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and directing passion projects like "In the Land of Blood and Honey," Jolie is perhaps the biggest Hollywood spokesperson of humanitarian efforts worldwide. This summer, however, Jolie can be seen taking a wicked turn in Disney's "Maleficent" -- a re-imagining of "Sleeping Beauty" from the villain's point-of-view.
From her Oscar-winning godfather to her curiosity with blood, here are 33 things you probably don't know about Angelina Jolie.
1. Jolie was born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles to Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, both actors.
2. The actress was born Angelina Jolie Voight, but she legally dropped her surname "Voight" in 2002.
3. She is the goddaughter of actress Jacqueline Bisset and actor Maximilian Schell.

Actor reveals he was ignorant of his daughter's decision but was deeply moved by her handling of the situation
Angelina Jolie's father, actor Jon Voight, has revealed that he was kept in the dark over his daughter's plan to have a double mastectomy, and only learned about it at the same time as the rest of the world.
Voight told the New York Daily News: "I was as surprised as anyone and deeply moved by the way she's handled this."
Jolie announced she had undergone the medical procedure in an op-ed piece in the New York Times on 14 May, but Voight explained he had no prior knowledge. "I saw her two days ago with my son Jamie. We all got together for his birthday, with her and Brad [Pitt]. But I didn't know. It wasn't obvious at all."
He also said he "completely understood" her reasons for not informing him.

Delivering a good Oscar acceptance speech is not easy. If you over prepare, you seem arrogant, like you knew you were going to win all along, and if you aren't ready for your name to be called, you're almost certain to forget to thank your significant other or your film's director. Some Oscar winners suffer from a serious case of the sniffles and leave audiences unsure what they even said, while others go off on tangents that have nothing to do with movies at all.
In the end, though, it mostly just comes down to having that special something, that je ne sais quoi. And let's face it, you've either got it or you don't. Below are five stars we think nailed...

Angelina Jolie is the second daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand; her older brother is James Haven. She is of Slovak and German decent, on her father’s side, and of French Canadian on her mother’s side. After their parents separation in 1976 Angelina and James were raised by their mother. Her professional career didn’t begin until 1993 in an independent low-budget film called Cyborg 2. During her first Hollywood film, Hackers, she met her first husband, Johnny Lee Miller. During the next four years, she continued to develop her career with small but significant roles. Her breakthrough came in 1997, when she portrayed Cornelia Wallace in the biographical film George Wallace. This performance won her a Golden Globe Award. Voight Knew He'd Have Two Kids With Bertrand
Movie star Jon Voight knew he would have two children with his late ex-wife Marcheline Bertrand as soon as he met the exotic beauty.
The Deliverance star was immediately smitten with the actress/producer after a pal introduced them and they arranged to meet at the Beverly Hills Hotel - and he had a flash of their life together, which would produce Angelina Jolie and James Haven.
He tells Men's Journal magazine, "We had raspberries and cream at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I was quite taken with her (Bertrand) and in the conversation I said, 'You know, I could have two children with you.' The words just came out of my mouth.
"But she didn't blink, and neither did I. Sure enough, I had two children with that gal."
Voight and Bertrand were married from 1971 to 1978.
Voight admits his divorce and "the ramifications it had on the family" remains his greatest regret.
Bertrand died after a battle with ovarian cancer last year.

Five days after Angelina Jolie gave birth to a son and daughter, her brother, James Haven, was spotted arriving at Nice's Hospital Lenval for a visit. Haven, wearing a ballcap tucked over his eyes and accompanied by two bodyguards, was seen being driven into the hospital's emergency area entrance at 10 a.m. Thursday in a Mercedes van with blacked out windows. The last time he was seen visiting the French hospital was July 5 when he brought his nephew Maddox Jolie-Pitt for a visit to his mother from the family's Chateau Miraval residence in Correns, France. Meanwhile, as Angelina continues recuperating,...

Don't expect to catch any glimpses of Angelina Jolie in her hospital room. The hospital in Nice, France, where Jolie, 33, is staying as she awaits the birth of her twins has coated the windows of her room with special insulating material that cameras cannot see through, the Associated Press reports. The news comes after several photographs – allegedly of Jolie and Brad Pitt – have surfaced. "It is impossible to see into Mr. Brad Pitt and Mrs. Angelina Jolie's room," a rep for the Fondation Lenval hospital said in a statement. "So any pictures released are either posed fakes set up by paparazzi,...

Haven Works On Father-son Relationship With Voight
Angelina Jolie's brother James Haven has followed in the Hollywood actress' footsteps and reconciled with their estranged father Jon Voight.
The siblings have shared a strained relationship with veteran actor Voight in recent years, but a heavily-pregnant Jolie recently revealed she was back in contact with her dad - six years after she severed ties when he told a TV interview she had "severe emotional problems".
And now Haven also appears to have rekindled his relationship with his dad, after the pair was spotted attending the Los Angeles Lakers basketball game together in L.A. on Tuesday night.
The basketball showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics at the Staples Center also attracted a host of other stars, including courtside regulars Dustin Hoffman and Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg, Sylvester Stallone, Spike Lee and Eddie Murphy.

Pitt Has Changed Jolie
Angelina Jolie's relationship with partner Brad Pitt has totally changed her life, according to her brother James Haven. Jolie is raising three adopted children Maddox, Zahara Marley, and Pax Thien, and biological daughter Shiloh Nouvel with the Ocean's Thirteen star - and Haven is convinced his sister has found a partner for life following failed marriages to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Haven, 33, says, "Brad has changed my sister a lot. They have an extraordinary bond, it's not on the usual level. He's great with her and I've never seen a brood like that who are all so supportive of one another. Brad is so strong for her. When she feels vulnerable, he has the most incredible strength. She says she couldn't have adopted more children after Maddox without him. I've never seen any sign of tension between them, and if it keeps going the way it's going, they'll be together for life."...

Shiloh Was Named After Jolie's Brother
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt named their baby daughter after the actress' brother James Haven - he has revealed. Haven claims he was originally given Shiloh - which means 'messiah' or 'peaceful one' - as a middle name by his and Jolie's parents Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, before they switched it at the last minute. The 33 year old actor tells Grazia magazine, "At the last second, my parents gave me Haven instead. So it was very cool when Brad and Angie came to me and said: 'We're thinking of names and our favorite is Shiloh. We know that was your original name, so would that be OK?'. I was almost in tears - I was so honored."...

Pitt-Jolie Photo Theft Mystery Revealed
The investigation into the theft of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's baby shower pictures has centered on Jolie's brother, who took a broken camera containing the snaps to a repair shop. Police swooped on two suspects on Tuesday - Bill Keyes and Adam Beckwith - who had downloaded pictures of the Hollywood couple's Namibia party held ahead of the birth of their daughter Shiloh Nouvel last month. However it has emerged that, rather than stealing the camera's memory card, Keyes and Beckwith were given it by Jolie's brother James Haven. Haven handed the faulty camera in for repairs in Los Angeles following his visit to the African party. Neither Keyes nor Beckwith have been arrested yet, according to Tmz.com, but police have seized the camera and Keyes' computer.

I Didn't Snog My Brother, Says Angelina Jolie
Sexpot actress Angelina Jolie has denied long-standing rumors that she kissed her brother inappropriately at the Oscar ceremony in 2000. The Tomb Raider star was so excited at winning the Best Supporting Actress award for Girl, Interrupted that she kissed brother James Haven on the lips. And Angelina puts her excitement down to her desire to emulate her dad, actor Jon Voight, who won the Best Actor statuette in 1979 for war drama Coming Home. The 28-year-old says, "I didn't snog my brother. I wanted an Oscar my whole life - my father had had one. Me and my brother had a very difficult upbringing. We both survived a lot together and it meant a lot that he supported me my whole life. And in that moment, you reach to kiss somebody, and you end up kissing their mouth. Who cares? It wasn't like we had our mouths open, it wasn't some romantic kiss."...
