Director of Mediawatch-UK, formerly known as the National Viewers' and
Listeners' Association, a rôle which he took over from
Mary Whitehouse in 1994, after having joined in 1976. Their aim is to provide a watchdog and pressure group for decency in broadcasting. He retired in September 2009, when he was succeeded by
Vivienne Pattinson.
