Amazon MGM and Mattel's long-gestating live-action Masters of the Universe reboot has added another major cast member, with Alison Brie set to take on the role of the villainous Evil-Lyn.
THR reports that Brie will join the previously announced Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, and Riverdale alum Camila Mendes as his right-hand woman and (possible) love-interest, Teela.
As her name suggests, Evil-Lyn is a wicked and powerful sorceress who serves as Skeletor's second-in-command. Lyn was played by Meg Foster in the previous live-action movie, and was voiced by Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey in Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation animated series, which added some new dimensions to the character.

Glow star Alison Brie is set to suit up as Skeletor’s diabolical sidekick in the planned Masters Of The Universe adaptation, set for release in 2026.
It’s taken forever for the Masters Of The Universe live action film to come together, with planned takes being developed then abandoned over and over again. The project has been in development at Sony, Warner Bros and Netflix and has pulled more writers and filmmakers than we can list into what seemed like a black hole, with nobody managing to figure out how to make the project work.
Then Amazon got ahold of the rights and a Masters Of The Universe film finally seems to be on the verge of happening. Casting has already been revealed, with the announcement that Red, White & Royal Blue’s Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man. Upon sweeping the four main drama acting categories at the 2021 Emmy Awards, “The Crown” stars Olivia Colman, Josh O’Connor, Gillian Anderson, and Tobias Menzies all joined a special roster of lead or supporting TV academy honorees who were not part of their shows’ original casts. As members of the expansive Netflix series’ second of three distinct ensembles, this quartet and their co-stars were replaced ahead of season five by a new group of actors, some of whom could be added to said exclusive winners club later this year.
According to Gold Derby’s odds, the performer from the sixth and final season of “The Crown” with the best shot at Emmy glory is supporting female frontrunner Elizabeth Debicki. As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

Plot: The new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull!. The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with Motherboard’s might, attacks Eternia’s heart while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man!

Titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Netflix original was released in two five-episode drops, both of which I loved. A blend of modern animation techniques coupled with a throwback to the Filmation style of the 1980s cartoon, Revelation was blasted online by a vocal minority who disliked Smith’s decision to “kill off” Prince Adam in the first episode and make the series centered on Teela and many of the female characters. This article contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
Episode 3 of Masters of the Universe: Revolution features former Man-At-Arms Duncan (Liam Cunningham) and wizard Orko (Griffin Newman) achieving an important goal, enhancing He-Man’s Sword of Power. To do this, Duncan goes to the one person he believes can do it, a locksmith who is, “small in stature and tall on talent.”
That locksmith is a short creature named Gwildor (Ted Biaselli.)
For those not well-versed in their Masters of the Universe franchise lore, Gwildor doesn’t come from the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon. He actually debuted in the 1987 live-action movie, Masters of the Universe, played by Billy Barty. In that film he was also a locksmith whose main purpose in the plot was as the creator of the Cosmic Key, the object used to transport He-Man and company to Earth in that film.

Kevin Smith’s Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation was envisioned as a follow-up to the 1980s show He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and now Revelation is getting a follow-up of its own. Smith and Netflix are set to bring us the sequel series Masters of the Universe: Revolution sometime in 2024 – and while a specific release date hasn’t been revealed, promotion of the show has started with the unveiling of a clip that shows He-Man going to battle with the villainous Scare Glow! You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation viewers may remember that when Eternia was running low on magic, villain characters Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw, Whiplash, and Blast-Attak became part of a technology-focused Motherboard cult, where followers were turned into cyborgs. Picking up where Revelation left off, Revolution is an all-new story that focuses on the classic He-Man vs.

While the first Primetime Emmys battle involving two male drama series costars occurred in 1957, it took until 1980 for there to be such a showdown in the corresponding female category. In the time since on-screen mother and daughter Sada Thompson and Kristy McNichol (“Family”) faced off, 11 more pairs of dramatic lead actresses have been pitted against each other at the Emmys between one and six times each. Scroll through our chronological photo gallery to learn more about the 23 separate cases of dual Best Drama Actress nominations.
The largest portion of this category’s costar face-offs is credited to Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless of “Cagney & Lacey.” After Gless replaced Daly’s first season costar, Meg Foster, the pair never failed to jointly earn TV academy recognition, leading to a record four wins for Daly and two for Gless (1986-1987). Legendary director John Carpenter first worked with the great character actor Keith David on his 1982 film The Thing (watch or buy it Here), which has gone on to earn a reputation as being one of the best horror movies ever made. Six years later, they collaborated again on the cult classic sci-fi thriller They Live (watch it Here)… and then, apparently, they went thirty-five years without seeing each other in person. Recently, they finally crossed paths again – and David marked the occasion by sharing a picture of their reunion on social media. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
David didn’t provide any information on what brought them back together. Carpenter did recently reveal that he has directed a TV series called Suburban Screams, which filmed in Prague while he directed it from the comfort of his own home. It didn’t require much movement,...

While Kevin Smith’s Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation was envisioned as a follow-up to the 1980s show He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, it also included some nods to the 1987 live-action Masters of the Universe film, including the presence of flying discs, the characters of Pigboy and Blade, and even a line of dialogue that was lifted from the movie. So now that Smith and Netflix are moving forward with the sequel series Masters of the Universe: Revolution, it seems fitting that a cast member from the 1987 film has joined the voice cast. Coming Soon reports that Meg Foster, who played Evil-Lyn on screen in ’87, will be providing the voice of Motherboard, “who is described as “”an ancient sorceress of technology in the fight for the soul of Eternia.”

Love him or hate him, Rob Zombie has become one of the prominent and unique voices in the modern horror landscape. His style is immediately recognizable, his choices in aesthetics, casting, and music practically codified. I say this not to criticize Zombie; he’s one of my favorite current filmmakers, and I like or love nearly every single one of his movies.
With two of his films celebrating an anniversary this year – Lords of Salem turns 10, House of 1000 Corpses turns 20 – it seemed like the right time to revisit his filmmaking career so far.
Today we’re ranking Rob Zombie’s entire live action filmography to date…

I bet you thought when we started covering adaptations that we would be going to the Stephen King well more than a few times and believe me, we will. Today though, we are covering our second John Carpenter helmed adaptation after we discussed The Thing in the inaugural episode. While that one was pretty well known for being a more faithful adaptation of the book his hero Howard Hawks had adapted, not a lot of people may realize that They Live was sparked from a very short comic that adapted a very short story.

Specialty film rollouts continues to accelerate with Chinonye Chukwu’s Till, Park Chan-wook’s Decision To Leave and A24’s Stars At Noon joining releases from previous weeks to populate theaters as awards season gathers steam.
Till, from United Artists Releasing, world premiered at the ongoing New York Film Festival to stellar reviews. It opens on 16 screens in five markets – NY, LA, Chicago, Atlanta and Washington, D.C. The story of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old lynched in 1955 while visiting cousins in Mississippi, is an emotional one, and a tough one. But explicit violence is something Chukwu determinedly left out of the frame, focusing instead on Deadwyler’s Mamie Till-Mobley, Emmet’s mother, as she pursues justice for her son. Word of mouth, that this is first and foremost a poignant, powerful cinematic journey about one person changing history, will be key.

"The Devil himself never takes possession, he sends one of his agents." Screen Media Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled The Accursed, made by filmmaker Kevin Lewis (of Nicolas Cage's Willy's Wonderland most recently). Not to be confused with the other horror film also known as The Accursed released last year - this one is about a demon taking over an old woman in a cabin. Elly is asked by a family friend to look after an elderly woman who is living in a remote cabin for a few days. She agrees, but soon discovers there is a demon hiding in the woman just waiting to break free. Uh oh. The horror film stars Mena Suvari, Sarah Grey, Sarah Dumont, Meg Foster, and Alexis Knapp. This looks like it does get super horrifying at the end when the demon wants out and is tired of waiting.
