- For twelve-year-old Ranji from Mumbai, Bollywood is the greatest: The colorful films of the Indian film industry with their infectious songs and dance choreographies make him happy - like millions of other compatriots. He wants nothing more than to stand in front of the camera with his declared hero, the Indian superstar Amir Roshan. But his great longing moves into an unreachable distance when his parents reveal to the boy their dream of emigrating to distant Germany. Only the hope of attending a casting for Amir Roshan's new film keeps him going - even if it takes place in his old homeland, India. You have to fight for your dreams - they won't come true on their own. Neighboring girl Toni, who turns out to be an unexpected ally for Ranji, knows that too. With courage and combined forces, the two set out to make their dreams come true - and in doing so they also find the happiness of true friendship.
- Anabel (Lisa Martinek) apparently has everything a woman could want: a well-paid husband Dirk (Tim Bergmann), a nice apartment, good friends and an antique shop to keep her busy. The only thing missing is a child, but she can't have one because she accidentally finds out that her husband is sterile. She keeps her husband in the dark about her discovery of his shortcoming, who on the contrary assumes Anabel is incapable of conceiving. One day her pragmatic friend Lissi (Antje Schmidt) comes up with the idea that Anabel could get impregnated by another man and lie to her husband about the paternity of the child. After some initial hesitation Anabel decides to go through with Lissi's idea and thus enter Clemens (Fritz Karl), the new man in her life. A forbidden affair ensues and in the excitement of this whirlwind romance, Anabel no longer yearns for a child. She is on cloud nine and realises what she had been missing all along in her marriage with Dirk. But her double life is short-lived when she finds out that she is pregnant with her lover's child. She is thrilled about giving birth to the baby, but is caught in a dilemma between her lover and her husband; who should she chose to raise the child with? She doesn't want to hurt her husband Dirk by telling him the truth, while at the same time cannot let go of her lover Clemens, who has become an important part of her life.
- Bright, popular Leipzig schoolboy Sebastian Jäger (17) lives happily with his single mother Katharina, a former luxury hotel cleaner who has a shot at promotion to managing housekeeper. Sebastian's dream, playing football (soccer) in the German national league, seemed within reach until mean, outclassed school rival Mario Tönsen injured his foot, and mother lost control while driving him, causing a car crash that leaves Sebastian spine-injured, in a wheelchair for at least half a year. During his promising, courageous rehab, with mother asking boss Bülent Tokat to demote her back to cleaner so-long to concentrate on Sebastian's needs, she bumps into freelance architectural engineering inspector Janik Novotny, a passionate pilot and extreme sports daredevil, who becomes her lover and Sebastian's buddy, encouraging him to explore alternatives that scare her. Sebastian feels socially and romantically benched as 'the cripple', rendering him morose when a crucial diagnosis suggest he may never walk again, let alone play.

But Brazil is not for beginners: Funny circumstances drive him to teach music to the young inmates of a juvenile detention center. Bach's music and Brazilian instruments mix perfectly. One of the kids is Fernando, a lovable abandoned boy who lived on the streets. But Marten discovers that they have more in common than he thought.
- From Time Out Film Guide Beatt's first feature centres on a staggering performance from Swinton: part Diva, part Harpy, part woman struggling to cope and make sense of it all. She plays Queenie, married to a German and living in Germany; the marriage has reached one of its periodic crises, and Queenie's way out of the impasse is to throw a big all-night party. During it, she humiliates her husband by flirting with a handsome French stranger (Atkine). She succeeds in making a drama out of a crisis. Shot in steely monochrome, this is a small triumph for high-concept film-making. It's structured as a flow of vignettes, with an ever-changing cast of party guests in the background; dozens of people get their minute or two of prominence, but everything turns around the central triangle of wife, husband and potential lover. The only real weakness is the dialogue, far too much of which is quoted from literature and poetry. But the grasp of mood and rhythm is spot on. Author: TR, Time Out Film Guide
- Just before their wedding, Bavarian rural baker Lena Mayerhofer finds groom Hansi making love to a para-nymph.
