The Vaniville Town children, sans X, are surprised to learn that Salamè has been holding onto a Mega Stone all this time. While Xerosic insists that no records exist of a Charizard undergoing Mega Evolution, Blue - finally waking up himself - proposes that he and his Charizard are living proof of that phenomena, revealing his own Key Stone and Mega Stone. The group notices that the two Mega Stones are of different colors, prompting Xerosic to gloat that at least one of them must not be Charizard's corresponding Mega Stone, and sends out four Crobat to attack. Blue orders Y to lead the others towards Pokémon Village while he and X hold Xerosic off; using an Awakening on Croaky, Y orders a Smokescreen to mask their escape. Under the cover of the smokescreen, Salamé finally evolves into Charizard, much to Xerosic's dismay. Just then, he receives a call from Aliana, who declares that she and the other Team Flare Scientists will intercept Y's group. The four scientists swoop down on Y's group and separate them.
As Salamé struggles to fend off Xerosic's Malamar, Blue points out to X that his Pokémon is waiting for him to use Mega Evolution. The remark strengthens X's resolve, and the two Mega Evolution wielders Mega Evolve their Charizard into Mega Charizard X and Y. Barely dodging an attack from Aliana, Y yells out for her friends, with Shauna facing Celosia and Tierno fighting off Mable, resolving to fight for themselves. Trevor is cornered by Bryony, who remarks that she won't let him, his friends or Zygarde interfere with Team Flare, causing Trevor to realize that Team Flare means to activate the ultimate weapon again. With his Flabébé covering for him, Trevor attempts to escape from Bryony's Bisharp.
With Xerosic's team no match for two Mega Evolved Charizard, X and Blue mount their Pokémon and fly towards Pokémon Village, only to realize that Y's group has been split apart. Salamé manages to rescue Trevor as Blue's Charizard blasts Bisharp away, but as Trevor warns X of Team Flare's new plan, Blue's Charizard is hit by a blast that resembles the attack from the ultimate weapon, and is soon attacked by Yveltal. Y manages to send out Xerxer to intercept, giving the group a breather to exchange information. Y recalls the Pokémon who Shauna and Tierno saw drained of their life force, prompting X to conclude that Team Flare attacked the Pokémon Village to gather more sources of life force to power the ultimate weapon again.
On Route 10, Team Flare Grunts secure the captured Pokémon to the ancient Absorbers. Shauna's Furfrou is among them, and it recognizes Whitley's Delphox as the Fennekin that got separated from X's group, calling out to Delphox but is ignored. In the Team Flare Secret HQ, Essentia curls up on the ground, clutching her head as she suffers a migraine.
