I would have no hesitation in creating a redirect of [[J. S. M. Ward]] to [[John Sebastian Marlow Ward]]. I would do that simply on the basis that an academic book indexed Ward by initials.

Typos a little harder to justify. If this is an actual alternate spelling, the redirect would be automatic
i would never suggest that every permutation of an articles name should be a redirect, but i wouldn't consider writing one now that everybody has TW. I just wouldn't be bothered with arguing over a PROD on a redirect.
The resource implications of redirects are apparently small. Using many bytes to justify deleting a couple of dozen seems to make little sense.

IMHO until we have a good search system that can handle misspelt search times correctly, we should continue to make typo redirects.
Note of course that we have 'see also' links for lost typists on disambiguation pages, and sometimes {{distinguish}} links at the top of articles, such as [[Psyllium]].

Wow, I just checked out RFD and you're totally right. There are people arguing to delete Svensk -> Swedish, and yet arguing to keep Assburger -> Asperger's Syndrome!

Both articles were crappy articles at AfD with the article titles as above. Most RfD that I have seen have been redirmisnomers. This can be handled in mis for deletion, though.

But the real problem with keeping RfD is that there is no way of calling attention to the discussions on the few occasions when a issue does arise. This leaves such decisions in the hands of the junkies, for who else would visit regularly?

I'm not clear whether you are suggesting to merge RfD into MfD? I don't think that's a bad idea. I've sometimes thought a single non-article xD page would be the best way) (I wasn't around when the separate ones were split off, but you were. Hw do you think its been working?)

Yeah, merging them makes the most sense to me. I've never looked much at the xfDs since they were split off, to be honest, so I can't compare them much. I did close RfDs for a while, though, and it was as bad then as it is now.

Some redirects should be deleted - such as offensive or ridiculous ones. But they don't need to be discussed first.
