Help Remove Spongy Moth Egg Sacs
Help Remove Spongy Moth Egg Sacs
Spongy moths are an invasive species that wreak havoc on our tree canopy each year. By removing their egg sacs before they get the chance to hatch you are participating in vital stewardship work. Each egg sac contains approximately 300 eggs, which means 300 potential caterpillars per sac. Each spongy moth caterpillar will eat an average of 1 square meter of foliage in its short lifetime, meaning that for every egg sac you remove you are saving approximately 300 square meters of leaf area in Hamilton's urban canopy. Please fill in all information you are able to and we will add the results of your removal to our project total. Don't forget to follow us on social media to get updates about how much of our tree canopy has been saved to date!
