Whether you're seeking focused, personalized feedback or want to join in collaborative group discussions, the Lounge is your go-to place for meaningful conversations, professional growth, and idea sharing—all in a relaxed and supportive environment.

What are 1:1 Meetings? (RSVP required)

1:1 Meetings are 40-minute private sessions with a faculty member, either solo or with a colleague. They're perfect for focused discussions on marching band show music, drill, conducting, pedagogy, literature selection, or other topics you choose. These meetings require an RSVP. Come prepared for a productive, personalized session.

What are Small Group Conducting Sessions? (RSVP required)

Small Group Conducting sessions offer 80 minutes of hands-on feedback from Richard Floyd in a group of up to five attendees. Bring a score and baton—or don’t! RSVP is required, and spots are first-come, first-serve.

Question 5

What are Office Hours, and when do they occur?

Office Hours are 80-minute sessions where you can join small group discussions with faculty and fellow attendees—no RSVP required. Come and go as you like, stay for five minutes or the full session, and attend as many as you'd like throughout the week. Topics are flexible and based on who shows up and what’s on their minds, making each session unique and conversational. It’s a great way to explore new ideas, ask questions, and learn from others in a relaxed, collaborative setting. All Office Hours operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, so feel free to drop in anytime.

How does the RSVP process work?

RSVPs are required for all 1:1 Meetings and Small Group Conducting Sessions. Sign-ups for the entire week will open on Monday at 5:15pm and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each participant may reserve up to two (2) RSVP-required sessions per day. Sign-ups for each day will close at 10:00pm the night before. For example, RSVPs for Wednesday sessions will close at 10:00pm on Tuesday. To reserve a slot, you’ll need a free SignUpGenius account. Please note that when registering, both your name and the discussion topic you enter will be visible to others accessing the scheduling link.
