If you’re a grade 11 or 12 student in North America, you’re in!
Just choose your canvas (Literature, Mixed Media, or Fine Art) and submit your work from February 1st to June 1st.
Landyachtz has always promoted the societal and individual benefits riding a skateboard brings to communities. Now, we’re turning the spotlight to students and inviting them to illustrate their perspectives on these benefits.
Whether it’s the freedom of having easy and efficient transportation, the health benefits of being active, or just a rad story from your life that skateboarding was a part of, we want to hear from you!

Literature
ESSAY – POETRY – SHORT STORY

1000 WORDS ESSAY:
Write an essay telling us What’s good with skateboarding through personal experiences, community stories or observations. Be creative, and clearly explain your points.
SHORT STORY:
Write a story where skateboarding plays a prominent role.
POETRY:
Write a series of poems, featuring skateboarding and it’s positive impact.
MIXED MEDIA
VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHY ESSAY

VIDEO:
Shoot and edit a video that captures your story of what’s good with Skateboarding. We’re looking for quality filming and editing along with creative editing and storytelling. Upload to youtube and submit the link.
PHOTOGRAPHY ESSAY:
Tell a story through a series of 10 – 20 photos you’ve shot, include a two-sentence caption for every photo. (Submit a PDF)
FINE ART
SCULPTURE, PAINTING OR DRAWING

FINE ART OPTIONS:
Creativity and unique perspectives that tell stories and provoke thought through sculpture, painting or drawing.
Submit photos of your work along with a paragraph that explains your work.

This is your chance to express your passion for skateboarding, no matter your skill level.
Whether you’re a wordsmith, a visual storyteller, a photo enthusiast, or simply love dabbling in fine art – it’s all good!
WINNER SELECTION
The Landyachtz team will review all submissions, and the category winners will be chosen in June and winners will be announced on or before June 30.
Upon providing verifiable proof of post-secondary enrollment, the deserving scholarship recipients will be awarded. We accept proof of enrollment from any post-secondary education institution, including universities, colleges, trade schools, etc.
HOW THE WINNERS GET THEIR PRIZE MONEY?
Payments will be by cheque to the winners as a gift (subject to taxes) and submissions may be used by Landyachtz with credit given to the submitter.
WHY DID LANDYATCHZ CREATE A SCHOLARSHIP?
- We want people thinking and talking about the benefits of skateboarding.
- The value of education cannot be overstated. Landyachtz invests in the environment through our One-Board-One-Tree program, invests(changed the tense to match previous) in people empowering themselves and in society’s(possessive not plural) potential is (the) logical next step for us.
- Skateboarding has always been embraced by artists and thinkers. We want to see the unique perspective of today’s youth toward our passion for living a non-traditional life style.

- We believe that your recreation should fit into and improve your life. Skateboarding improves lives through mental and physical exercise. Happier, healthier people improve communities.
- This is just scratching the surface, we want to see and hear stories that illustrate and highlight the specifics behind our beliefs.
