This is a breathtaking pair of Byzantine bracelets. These are museum reproductions of a pair found in Karavas, Cyprus now housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It is gold plated (24K most likely over pewter). The Second Cyprus Treasure: The originals were made in Constantinople (scholars think) and later buried in a niche near Lambousa sometime most likely before the Arab occupation of Cyprus in AD 654. The treasure was illegally excavated in 1902 and the collection broken up. The original horde had a belt, two bracelets, three necklaces, several pairs of earrings, and silver dishes.
