This is the Humboldt’s squirrel monkey! Endemic to Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. There are three subspecies within this range. Small monkeys, they generally live in groups of 20-50 individuals for safety in numbers. Widespread in their range and adaptable to habitat changes, yet impacted by the pressures of deforestation. One subspecies is Vulnerable due to habitat loss and forest fragmentation. They are generally listed as Least Concern.
