It was a busy, busy weekend. First, due to the weather, Cullen and Quinn were here for 3 days instead of their usual 2 - that always makes it exciting. Max brought them up Thursday night after he got off of work so I wouldn't have to try to drive to Liberty in the sleet and snow Friday. A member of my quilting group was talking about making this quilt, The Winter Quilt by Jan Patek. It's in this issue of the Simply Vintage magazine that Quiltmania publishes. It's also in this book from Jan that I have. It might just become one of my next long term needle turn applique projects. Seems appropriate to post a pic from my window of what Winter looks like here. All this snow came down within hours this morning as the temperature dropped from 45 degrees to 15 degrees.

It's almost over - another year, that is. Time flies so quickly these days. And it doesn't slow down much even if I'm sitting at the computer reading blogs instead of posting :) And the end of another year also means the end of another Mystery Quilt. This one - the Miami Valley Album Quilt is is in France right now and the patterns will be in my book published by Quiltmania next spring. I didn't have time before it left but when it gets home I'll embroider names on the blocks - that will be…

So maybe I shouldn't have tapped Sandy Gervais as Moda's "oldest" designer, because that means I have to refer to Jan Patek as the second "oldest." What I really mean, of course, is that they are the longest-designing-designers on Moda's roster. As we celebrate Moda's 40 years in business, we thought it would be fun to acknowledge Sandy's and Jan's designing longevity and hear a bit about what it was like to be a Moda designer in the early days. So I hope they both forgive the "old" moniker!
