How to upcycle a man's shirt into a shirt for a woman Umgestaltete Shirts, Sewing Men, Mens Shirt Refashion, Sewing Alterations, Shirt Refashion, Recycle Clothes, Refashion Clothes, Upcycle Clothes, Sewing Clothes

I made this cute shirt-for-that-meeting-with-HR-I-have-next-week… …from this big old man’s shirt… Here’s how I did it! First I removed the sleeves and unpicked the side seams, leaving the shoulder seams intact. Then I put it inside-out on the dressform and pinned like crazy. I had to add bust darts to the side and front and back darts too to make it fit the form. I also pinned the sides to make sure the darts were in the right position. I then sewed the darts in place and pressed them flat…

This past week was ridiculously hectic at work, and The Dude and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary this weekend. So you guys get a small-change-big-impact refashion today. This blouse came from the clothes swap I attended last month. It was baggy and unflattering. It wasn't labelled as a maternity shirt, but it certainly could have been. But cobalt blue AND polka dots? Lastly, cut off any excess material and serge the raw edges (or if you're like me and don't have a fancy serger, use a zig-zag stitch). You're…

Patterns by PatternCos on Instagram: "Let's continue explaining some pattern problems for people with large bust cup using the Geller blouse pattern as example 🤗 A very common thing in loose-fitting or semi-fitted blouses is that the pattern has omitted the bust darts. This is very good to simplify the tailoring and actually in small bust cups it doesn't really affect the fit of the garment but in larger sizes there can be a problem and it seems that the front of the garment is too short.

📌 How do we solve this?
By adding a small bust dart on the side.

🍀 Figuring out how high to place the darts is easy because you just need to measure from shoulder to bust line.
🍀 On a loose-fitting garment, if the darts start slightly past the armhole, that's enough.
