It was back to camp this week for Dalton. He enjoyed a reading and writing camp at the Y. When asked what his favorite part of camp was this week, he quickly responded with getting to read all the silly stories and making crafts to go along with them. I am very happy he enjoyed it, especially since most of his friends were doing football camp right next door.
While Dalton was at camp, Addie and I enjoyed a laid back week together. We caught one of the summer $1 movies on Tuesday. We decided to go see Yogi Bear since we were going camping at Jellystone over the weekend. We meet some friends for storytime at the library on Wednesday. We played at Y land or the splash pad almost every afternoon and then attended Crafternoon at the library after camp with all three of us one of the days. It was a laid back week, but we still had tons of fun.
On Friday afternoon, we loaded up the car and anxiously awaited Daddy’s return from work. Once he was home, we all piled in and headed down the road to Jellystone at Canyon Lake.
One the way there, Addie felt she needed to prepare for the weekend ahead by reading “Froggy goes camping”. Dalton, on the other hand, was preparing for an alien attack.
Once we got there, Blake and I went to work setting up camp…
…while the kids sat and watched and Addie had her first encounter with a bug.
Home Sweet Home for the next two days….
The kids and their sticks…
The customary picture with Yogi….
…and with Cowboy Yogi.
Once we were all settled in, we enjoyed a quiet evening by the pool while the kids played.
Back at camp that evening, we enjoyed roasting some hotdogs for a late night snack…
….followed by some yummy s’mores.
Saturday morning, we woke up early (before the sun was completely up) to make some breakfast.
I cooked….
Addie helped set the table……
The boys helped eat….
Blake followed breakfast by enjoying a nice cup of coffee….
….while the kids enjoyed some Saturday morning cartoons!?!
We enjoyed lots of activities around camp that day:
Swinging and sliding at the park…
Digging in the dirt with Daddy…
Watching Daddy dig in the dirt….
Meeting the “REAL” Yogi bear (or a man in a costume as Dalton kept pointing out)…
Hey Hey rides (photo taken by Dalton)….
Arts and Crafts time in Jellystone Hall….
Panning for gold at the Gem Mine…
Lunch back at camp….
Followed by nap time/reading time to beat the heat….
An afternoon scavenger hunt….
We didn’t win the scavenger hunt but it was still fun!
We followed up the scavenger hunt with a game of candy bar BINGO in the air-conditioned hall.
Still no winners here but who doesn’t love a few games of BINGO.
We had avoided most of the scorching afternoon sun, so it was time to return to the pool to cool off.
Finally, it was back to camp to roast more hotdogs and s’mores around the fire for dinner.
A few more cartoons that evening and then it was time to turn in from our fun-filled and busy day at camp.
Sunday morning we slept in (until about 7am), had a quick and easy breakfast and packed up to leave. The kids are already asking to go back!
