It's Topflight Stamps Tuesday! This week's focus is "Anything Goes". I'm continuing to experiment with Lindy's Gang's products and and wanted to use my new Take Flight A& Clear Stamp Set TE9 by Tracy Evans Boutique.

Here's my card!

Topflight Stamps Products Used:

Other Products Used:
140 lb. Mixed Media Cardstock by Strathmore
Black Textured Cardstock by Bazzill Basics
Black Pigma Pen by Sakura
Wood Cutting Board
Low-tack Tape
Paint Brushes
VersaMark Pad by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko
Clear Detail Embossing Powder by Stampendous

Stamping Platform

Instructions:
  1. Create a 3.5" x 5" card from black cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Cut a piece of Mixed Media cardstock in half, then in half again, which will leave you with four 4.5" x 6" panels.
  3. Place one of the panels onto the center of a wooden cutting board. Tape all four sides of the panel to the cutting board with low-tack tape. This will help keep the panel from curling and warping.
  4. Use a water-filled Fine Spray Mister to mist the panel until it's wet.
  5. Dip a dry paint brush into Clam Bake Beige Pigment Powder from the Nantucket Pearls Magical Pigment Powder Set and tap the paint brush to sprinkle the pigment powder onto the wet panel. The powder crystals will begin to bloom and spread.
  6. Dip another dry paint brush into the Seagrass Green Pigment Powder from the Nantucket Pearls Magical Pigment Powder Set and tap the paint brush to sprinkle the pigment powder onto the wet panel.
  7. Use another dry paint brush and repeat the process with Whale Watch Blue Pigment Powder from the Nantucket Pearls Magical Pigment Powder Set.
  8. Mist the panel with water and heat set.
  9. Take a look at the panel and repeat the above process until you're happy with the coverage and blending.
  10. Spray the panel with Cactus Gold Glitz Spray from the Glitz Spritz Sprays Set to add a touch of gold glitter. Thoroughly heat set the panel.
  11. Remove the tape and move the panel onto the base of a stamping platform. Secure it with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
  12. Position the focal stamp from the  Take Flight A& Clear Stamp Set TE9 facedown iin the center of the inked panel.
  13. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  14. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp.
  15. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression.
  16. Remove the panel from the stamping platform and heat set.
  17. My impression wasn't the best and I lost some detail likely because the surface was a bit uneven. I used a black pen to fix it as much as possible.
  18. Use a Sparkle Clear Overlay Brush Pen to add glitter to the wings then heat set the image panel.
  19. Place the image panel back onto the stamping platform and secure it with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
  20. Position the "Take Flight" Sentiment Stamp from the Take Flight A& Clear Stamp Set TE9 facedown on the top right of the image panel.
  21. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp and lift.
  22. Ink the stamp with VersaMark and stamp.
  23. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp.
  24. Remove the panel from the stamping platform, sprinkle clear detail embossing powder onto the wet ink, dump the excess back into its container, and heat set the embossing powder.
  25. Trim the image panel to 3.25" x 4.75" and heavily edge it with  Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink
  26. Adhere the image panel to the reserved 3.5" x 5" black card.

  8. Use a black fineliner to fix any missing linework, specifically between the wings and the fairy.

  16. Test the colors you've created. You can always dilute with additional water to lighten the color or add more pigment powder to deepen the color.
  17. Use a paint brush to paint clear water around the image panel.
  18. Use a separate paint brush for each color of the diluted pigment powders to apply them to the image panel until you're happy with the the result.*

  27. Outline the fairy and the wings with a gold glitter pen.

  33. Adhere the card to the reserved 5" x 7" black card.
  34. Choose sentiment die-cuts from the Motivation Station Ephemera Die-cut Set 55
  35. Use a black marker to cover their white edges.
  36. Adhere the sentiment die-cuts to finish the card.
Notes:
  • You can add glittery elements to your piece by applying some Stardust Clear Glittering Gel Ink Pen, then spreading the gel ink with a Copic marker or other alcohol ink markers. When you're done, clean the nib of the marker by swiping it across a piece of scrap cardstock until it's clean.
  • Painting water along the edge of a colored image, then applying diluted pigments is a bit loosey-goosey and unpredictable to me. I clearly need to loosen up.
