It originated in an old tobacco barn constructed in the late 1800s. It's over 100 years old based on the date of the barn, and the tree is likely another 100 years old as well. When the settlers first came to the New World they left the forests untouched for centuries with a canopy of colossal trees as far as the eye could see. Much of that old growth is gone, which is sad, not only because we don't have the opportunity to see what our ancestors saw, but also because trees begin to exhibit different characteristics the older they get, and it shows in the wood. We feel fortunate to hold a piece of history, one that was alive and steady when the future of our nation was so uncertain. North American Bull Elk Antler Ring Inlay The elk antler in this wedding band is sourced from natural sheds by North American Bull Elk. While we're fans of hunting, we like the thought of these rings being connected with a grand creature still roaming our beautiful country. Just like wood, each antler has unique characteristics that make every ring one of a kind. Some of our elk antler inlays will have a bit more color to them, while others are quite white. We try our best to find a good balance when crafting each ring by hand. Can you use antler I send in? Unfortunately this has proven to be difficult. We're pretty picky about the antler we use in our rings and each one goes through a process to make the ring as strong as possible. So, we are not able to use antlers from our customers.
