Trading Infrastructure Side Projects

Built 10+ trading infrastructure tools outside my day job: real-time orderbook aggregators, futures arbitrage scanners, L3 order reconstruction systems. All open source. Go backends with WebSocket streaming, frontends in React or Dear ImGui (C++) compiled to web via Emscripten depending on performance requirements.

I lead the development of OpenBB's web products: openbb.co (marketing, Remix), docs.openbb.co (documentation, Docusaurus), my.openbb.co (hub platform, Remix), and most importantly OpenBB Workspace, our enterprise analytics platform. Workspace sits between a BI tool and a terminal - an interface layer for data visualization and AI-powered analysis with interactive dashboards. Stack: React, TailwindCSS, Zustand, Tanstack Query. Master's in Informatics Security

University of Coimbra

Received an FCT research scholarship to study web vs native application performance on mobile devices. The thesis showed that web apps could match native performance in most scenarios - which proved prescient, since most of my professional work since 2021 has been building high-performance web applications. Published research on cybersecurity topics, some of which is on my blog. Final grade: 19/20.

Freelance Fullstack Engineer

Built credentialing systems and mobile apps for Queima das Fitas (one of Portugal's largest festivals) handling thousands of attendees with QR code entry systems. Shipped ruc.pt, a nationwide radio website built with Next.js and WordPress/GraphQL, plus various web apps for international clients via Upwork. Stack: React Native, Next.js, Firebase, TailwindCSS.
