The altar of St.Olav in SanCarlo_alCorso in Rome; Olaf II Haraldsson (995 – 29 July 1030), later known as St. Olaf, was King of Norway and great-great-grandchild of Harald Fairhair. From the age of 12, he went on Viking expeditions, for a time he was a captain of mercenaries for Duke Richard of Normandy, and in 1013 or 1014 he was converted to the Faith of Christ and baptized in Rouen. He was canonised one year after his death in the Battle of Stiklestad on 29 July 1030.
