AbstractAbstract
[en] The purpose of this invention is to create a filter chamber filled from the end using inexpensive hand controls for lining up the filter units with a certain number of openings spaced laterally in the walls, and for withdrawing the units from the chamber. This technology could be applied to the filtering of radioactive gases

AbstractAbstract
[en] A p-divisible group, or more generally an F-crystal, is said to be Hodge–Newton reducible if its Newton polygon and Hodge polygon have a nontrivial contact point. Katz proved that Hodge–Newton reducible F-crystals admit a canonical filtration called the Hodge–Newton filtration. The notion of Hodge–Newton reducibility plays an important role in the deformation theory of p-divisible groups; the key property is that the Hodge–Newton filtration of a p-divisible group over a field of characteristic p can be uniquely lifted to a filtration of its deformation. We generalize Katz’s result to F-crystals that arise from an unramified local Shimura datum of Hodge type. As an application, we give a generalization of Serre–Tate deformation theory for local Shimura data of Hodge type.

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study has been carried out on the filtration of bacteria having different shapes and sizes using particle track microfilters. The filtration of spherical shaped bacteria (staphylococci), rod-like bacteria (colon bacilli) and mixed miscellaneous bacteria living in pool water in the countryside shows quantitatively that particle track microfilters are a reliable tool to remove various bacteria from liquid substances. The study convinces us that in future particle track microfilters will play an important role in medical sciences and daily life. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The notion of an E∞-algebra with a filtration is introduced. The connections are established between E∞-algebras with filtrations and the theory of D∞-differential E∞-algebras over fields. Based on the technique of D∞-differential E∞-algebras, the apparatus of spectral sequences is developed for E∞-algebras with filtrations, and applications of this apparatus to the multiplicative cohomology spectral sequences of fibrations are given. AbstractAbstract
[en] An analytical model for the filtration efficiency of face masks is developed. The model considers the effect of gap leakage due to the improper fitting of the face mask in the reduction of the effective filtration efficiency. The model is also extended to include the case with multiple face masks. The model results are verified using experimental data from literature. It is shown that the adverse effect of the gap leakage depends on the face mask filtration and leakage characteristics. It is also shown that wearing more than one face mask might not always be beneficial in some scenarios. Recommendations on the best practice in the case of wearing two face masks are given.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Filtration efficiency tests were conducted on a fiberglass mat filter with DOP areosol having a diameter from 0.1*mm to 0.45*mm in the face velocity range of 1cm/sec to 10cm/sec. Filteration of submicron particles by a fibrous filter is characterized by a face velocity. The size of DOP aerosol which has a minimum removal efficiency decreases with increasing the velocity. A numerical solution of the diffusion equation is obtained for a fiberglass mat filter by using 'Kuwabara's cell model' for the flow field and Von Mises Transformaion for the actural flow around a fiberglass. The present theoretical results agree quite well with the experimentals for the fiberglass mat. This result could be contributed to pridict the removal efficiency on the air fiter and to optimize the operating condition of an air purification system with a filter. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We prove that, given a symmetrically distinguished correspondence of a suitable complex abelian variety (which includes any abelian variety of dimension at most 5, powers of complex elliptic curves, etc.) that vanishes as a morphism on a certain quotient of its middle singular cohomology, then it vanishes as a morphism on the deepest part of a particular filtration on the Chow group of 0-cycles of the abelian variety. As a consequence, we prove that an automorphism of such an abelian variety that acts as the identity on a certain quotient of its middle singular cohomology acts as the identity on the deepest part of this filtration on the Chow group of 0-cycles of the abelian variety. As an application, we prove that for the generalized Kummer variety associated to a complex abelian surface and the automorphism induced from a symplectic automorphism of the complex abelian surface, the automorphism of the generalized Kummer variety acts as the identity on a certain subgroup of its Chow group of 0-cycles.
