[en] Highlights: • Ash deposition on 3-D finned tube bundle mostly occurs on the fin surface. • Larger particles prefer to settle on the tube surface of top side and leeward side. • Smaller particles mainly deposit on the fin surface of windward side and leeward side. • Longer transverse tube pitch and shorter longitudinal tube pitch can restrict ash deposition. • Ash deposition remits firstly and then intensifies with the increase of fin height. -- Abstract: Ash deposition on the flue gas side of a heat recovery device can cause significant industrial problems. 3-D finned tube is a new type of heat exchanger element with potential anti-fouling property. However, the ash deposition characteristics of 3-D finned tube bundle are still unclear. In the current study, experiments were conducted to study the ash distribution characteristics of 3-D finned tube bundle with six-tube rows. The effects of the tube bundle structure, including the transverse tube pitch, longitudinal tube pitch and fin height, were investigated on the ash distribution around the tube along with the overall ash deposition weight. The results indicate that ash particles primarily distribute on the fin surface under different arrangements of the 3-D tube bundle. Larger particles prefer to settle on the tube surface of the top side and the leeward side, whereas smaller particles primarily settle on the fin surface of the windward side and the leeward side. The weight measurement results indicate that a longer transverse tube pitch and a shorter longitudinal tube pitch significantly restrict the ash deposition under current operating conditions. The ash deposition first decreases and then intensifies with an increase in fin height from 2 mm to 5 mm. The optimal fin height for anti-fouling is 3 mm.

AbstractAbstract
[en] A wire- cylinder reactor and wire- plate reactor were designed and constructed for generating the corona discharges to be applied to the dissociation of NOx and SOx in the flue gases of combustion engines and power plants. Experiments for the characterization of the corona discharges in air were carried out. To obtain the pulsed voltage shape, a rotary spark gap switch was formed with a DC motor. A discharge circuit was constructed with a resistor (50kΩ ), DC high voltage power supply, a rotary spark gap switch. Two electric probes and voltage probe were installed in order to measure the total current, displacement current, conduction current and applied voltage. The charges, power, and energy in the two reactors were calculated from the measured voltage and current. Also, to find the frequency dependence of the corona discharge, the high frequency (20kHz) and high voltage power supply was used in the wire- cylinder reactor. The each obtained and calculated value from the probes in both reactor cases (high frequency, low frequency ) were compared each other

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • The temperature regulation characteristics of double-reheat boilers remain elusive. • A cell model was established to simplify the calculation of double-reheat boilers. • The steam temperatures and their regulation characteristics were predicted. • The main steam temperature was most sensitive to flue gas recirculation. • This study provided further insights into the regulation characteristics. A cell model of double reheat boilers that simplifies thermodynamic calculation was developed to predict the steam temperature characteristics of a flexible 660 MW ultra-supercritical double reheat tower-type boiler. By virtue of the model, the characteristics of steam temperatures under different loads were obtained and the effects of swinging burners, regulating gas dampers, and gas recirculation on the steam temperatures were analyzed based on the 660 MW double reheat boiler. The results showed that the main and reheat steam temperatures had radiation and convective characteristics, respectively. The main steam temperature was found to be more sensitive to flue gas recirculation, whereas reheat steam temperatures were more sensitive to gas damper regulation. The average regulation ranges of secondary reheat steam temperatures were ±32.7 °C and ±8.1 °C for the maximum ranges of dampers and gas recirculation, respectively. This study provided further insights into the steam temperature regulation characteristics of double reheat boilers.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The chemical composition of residential wood combustion particulate emissions was determined for fireplaces and woodstoves. Burn rates, burn patterns, wood burning appliances, and cordwood types characteristic of Denver, Colorado; Bakersfield, California; and Mammoth Lakes, California, were used during sample collection. Samples were collected using a dilution/cooling system to ensure that condensible compounds were captured. Analyses for 44 chemical species were conducted. Source profiles for use in chemical mass balance (CMB) modeling were calculated from the analytical data. The principal chemical species comprising the profiles were organic compounds and elemental carbon. The minor chemical species were sulfur, chlorine, potassium, sodium, calcium, zinc, nitrate, and ammonium. Virtually all potassium was in a water-soluble form, and sulfur emissions between fireplaces and woodstoves were noted. Area-specific source profiles for fireplaces, woodstoves, and overall residential wood combustion are presented

[en] The advantage of electrochemical processes is that they are highly efficient, avoid or conserve chemicals and hence secondary waste and that the process engineering is simpler. Electrochemical processes are being tested in the following areas of power station operation: Decontamination of radioactive components, water treatment and flue gas scrubbing. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this article, a method is considered to increase the efficiency of boiler room operation with PTVM-180 boilers by the use of a flue gas flue in a condensing economizer. The efficiency evaluation of the utilization of the heat exchanger in accordance with the operating mode of the boiler house was evaluated, and the technical and economic parameters of the project were assessed, depending on the unplanned changes in such key factors as capital costs, operating time, operating mode.
