Beautiful Watercolors From 1940 Were Discovered To Be Of Shrunken Heads (8 Pics)

The world is so full of history and mystery, and sometimes the two intertwine in such a way as to be almost beyond belief.A series of watercolor paintings from the 1940s recently resurfaced in Brooklyn, New York, and they are thought to depict shrunken heads.What are shrunken heads? Well, they were made by certain tribes of Maori people in New Zealand, who would preserve the heads of their enemies.

I had so much fun working on this painting! It can be easy to always get stuck in the headspace of 'what do people want to see' instead of 'what do I want to do', so I decided to paint something for myself for a change. I felt a bit out of practice and made a few silly mistakes but it was so nice to paint with no pressure. It still needs to be varnished before I can frame it, but I think it will look cute in my kitchen. Acrylic Paint on Canvas - Ramen Bowl - Shoyu Ramen - Japanese Food - Handpainted

I had so much fun working on this painting! It can be easy to always get stuck in the headspace of 'what do people want to see' instead of 'what do I want to do', so I decided to paint something for myself for a change. It also required a lot of patience to paint each of the 61 figures but the result was nothing short of amazing. I can’t wait to make another painting this size. Perhaps even bigger!
